You can use your Chromebook
laptop-style (pictured), or flip the
screen back to use it as a tablet -
your choice!
For the initial set up we
recommend keeping the keyboard
open for easier typing
To navigate you have 3 options:
●Touchpad (see diagram)
●Touchscreen (using your
finger or the stylus provided)
●A mouse (not provided)

We will only use the power button (left 1) and the power port (left 3 or right 3) to
set up your Chromebook. You may find some of the others useful in future:

Plug the Chromebook in before turning
on for the first time
Plug the power adapter provided into
one of the the USB-C ports found on
both the left (3on the diagram, left) or
right side of the Chromebook, and then
into the wall socket
The battery light (2) should turn on
when charging
Look for this symbol to find the charging
ports (or see page 5)

First Time Setup

1. Press and hold the power button on
the left side of the Chromebook (1
on the diagram, left)
1. If the device does not switch on:
a. Please ensure you have
charged the device for at least
half an hour and the light (2) is
on
b. If it is still not working, contact
the Digital Bridge team:

1. Select your language on the bottom
left of the screen -the default
should be English (United
Kingdom)
1. Tap Let’s Go to proceed
Note: While you can choose another
language if preferred, we recommend
using English (UK) if you wish to use this
guide for reference
If you require accessibility options such
as a screen reader or visibility
enhancements, tap Accessibility on this
screen before proceeding

To connect to Wi-Fi:
1. Locate the name and password for
the network (this is usually found
on the router)
1. Tap on the network name and
enter the password
1. Tap Connect then Next

To start using the device, you will need
to accept the Chrome OS terms
Read through and when you are ready,
tap Accept and continue
The Chromebook may now check for
updates, which won’t take long

Google Account Setup

You will now have three options to
continue:
●Sign in to an existing Google
account
●Create a new Google account
●Continue as a guest

If you have an existing Google account:
●Find the email address and
password
●Another device e.g. your phone
may be needed to pass any security
checks
●Use the ‘forgot email’ or ‘forgot
password’ options if needed
Tap or click on the blank box to type
your email address and tap Next to
continue

If you do not have an account, or cannot
access your existing one:
1. Tap More options
2. Tap Create account
Click Next to continue

BASIC DETAILS
1. Enter your first name and last name
2. Tap next to continue
3. Enter your birthday and gender
4. Tap next to continue
Remember to use your real information,
as this will be important if you need to
reset the password at a later date

GMAIL ADDRESS
Set up a gmail.com email address to use
with the account:
●6-30 characters long
●Use letters, numbers and full stops
only
●Many email addresses are already
taken -if you receive an error
message, adjust or change and try
again
Note this new email address
somewhere safe for future reference

CREATE A STRONG PASSWORD
Enter a password and type it again in
the second box to confirm
Remember: You will need this password
to access your Chromebook, email and
other Google tools in future
●Use a mixture of letters, numbers
and symbols
●Don’t use any elements of your or
your family’s names, address or
dates of birth
●Do not share with others

CREATING AN ACCOUNT
You will be prompted to add a phone
number. Tap Yes, I’m in and follow the
instructions given
This will allow you to access your
account in future if you forget your
password. If you would prefer to skip
this, select Skip at the bottom of the
page
