1 Preamble
This operating manual for the automatic antiflood protection system device was issued
with high diligence and contains information which guarantees safe and long-lasting
operation.
If, however, some mistakes have slipped in or if some information is missing, please
advise us accordingly.

2 For your safety
Please read the safety notes in this chapter prior to using the automatic antiflood
protection system. Severe damages may occur in the case of misuse.
If owner or user of plant changes, documents have to be handed on.
2.1 Proper use
2.1.1 Field of application
The automatic antiflood protection system safeguards drain points below the backflow
level against backflow from the sewers.
The following criteria are prerequisites for the installation:
QIntended only for safeguard of drainage objects below the backflow level
QDrainage object has an incline to sewers
QThe use of the drain point must be dispensed with in case of backflow
QThe rooms to be safeguarded must be intended for inferior use only
QIn case of a flood, there is no health hazard for the residents
QImportant material assets are not at risk in the case of flood
QThere must only be a small number of users for whom a WC must be available above
the backflow level
Different use and application options as well as alterations are prohibited.
The owner is responsible for planning, installation and operation of the automatic
antiflood protection system, ACO K9/chapter 5/principles.
2.1.2 Improper use
Improper use is e. g.:

2.2 Required qualification
All works at automatic antiflood protection system must be carried out by specialists, if
not expressly mentioned that different persons (owner, user) are allowed to do so.
Besides a perennial work experience, specialists must have proof of the following

2.3 Personal protective equipment
For different works at the automatic antiflood protection system, personal protective
equipment is required.
The specialist company must put a sufficient number of protective equipment at the
disposal of their employees. Supervisors must make sure that the equipment is worn.

2.4 Depiction of warning notices

2.5 Non-approved parts
Prior to its market introduction, the automatic antiflood protection system had to pass
all product tests and all components were checked under high load.
Copies of high-quality spare parts are increasingly available. Installing non-approved
parts affects safety and rules out warranty by ACO.
In the case of an exchange, exclusively use original ACO parts or "spare parts released"
by ACO.
2.6 Material/substance hazards
Coming into contact with water containing faeces, e. g. during removal of blockages,
may lead to infections.
2.7 Responsibility of owner
It is in the owner's responsibility that the following points are observed:
QThe automatic antiflood protection system must be operated in accordance with its
intended use and in proper condition, chapter 2.1.
QFunction of protective equipment must not be affected.
QService intervals must be kept and faults must be remedied promptly. Remedy faults
oneself only if relevant measures are described in this operating manual. For all
other measures, the ACO Service is in charge.
QSufficient number of required "personal protective equipment" (PPE) must be
available and must be worn, chapter 2.3.
QThis operating manual must be available at place of installation legibly and
completely and staff members must have been trained with this manual.
QOnly qualified and authorised staff members may be used, chapter 2.2.

Transport and storage
3 Transport and storage
This chapter holds information on correct transport and accurate storage of backflow
stop.
Supply unit
The backflow stop mounted at our works and the loose
components are delivered packed in a carton. At the carton's
side surfaces is a transport/storage notice. At the top face,
there is a notice how to open the carton.
Translation: Nicht werfen = Do not throw!
Elektrogeräte = Electric appliances!
Scope of supply/chapter 4.1.
3.1 Safety during transport and storage
During transport and storage, the following risks may occur:
BEWARE
Read the following safety notes thoroughly prior to transport or storage. In the case of
misuse, light or medium injuries may occur.
Make sure that transport and storage personnel have required qualification,
chapter 2.2.

3.2 Storage
CAUTION An improper storage or missing conservation may lead to damage of
automatic antiflood protection system.
QStore automatic antiflood protection system in a closed, dry, dustproof and
frostfree room.

This chapter holds informaton on design and operating mode of the automatic antiflood
protection system.
4.1 Scope of supply
Check intactness and completeness of supply with the help of following table.
CAUTION Never install and operate damaged automatic antiflood protection systems.
Inform supplier of possible damages at the automatic antiflood protection system to
make sure complaint can be processed without delay.

4.2 Product features
This sub-chapter describes important features of the automatic antiflood protection
system Quatrix-K.
Short description of the automatic antiflood protection system Quatrix-K
The automatic antiflood protection system corresponds to type 3F as per DIN EN
13564 and is intended for use with wastewater with and without faeces. It is designed
for installation in frostproof rooms below the backflow level. Besides the design for
above-ground pipes, a plant for installation in the base plate is available. The backflow
stop is equipped with an automatic operating seal and a manually operable emergency
seal. The control opens the operating seal automatically in the case of backflow which
is detected by a pneumatic measuring system.
The housing of the backflow stop consists of high-qality polypropelene (PP). 6 stainless
steel thread bolts are mounted at top face of housing for cover fixation.
The housing cover is made from impact-proof Polyamide (PA), the inserted cover seal of
high-quality thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). The cover is screwed to the base plate with
6 discs and 6 cap nuts from brass.
The flow direction is embossed at top face of housing cover. With the housings, it is
embossed at both side surfaces and with the housing with shaft system, it is additio-
nally applied to the top face.
The driveshaft of the operating seal is made from stainless steel, grade 1.4301.
The operating seal as well as the emergency seal itself are 2-component parts, the hard
component being from ABS and the extruded sealings from TPE.
From ABS are also the housing of the electric motor, the control housing as well as the
mechanical parts for closing the emergency seal, the actuator of the operating seal as
well as the components for connection of the pressure hose for the pneumatic backflow
detection.
The pressure hose is from PA. Like the connecting cable of the electric motor, it has a
standard length of 5 m.
All additional shaft system components (intermediate section, top section, covering
turnover board) are made from ABS. The sealing between base plate, intermediate
section, top section and turnover board is guaranteed by inserted sealings of ethyl-
propelene-Dien-rubber (EPDM).

4.4 Control
This sub-chapter holds detailed information on the control and its operating mode.
4.4.1 Short description of control
The control of the automatic antiflood protection system Quatrix-K is a separate
component and is connected to the backflow stop with a connection cable. It is used for
automatic backflow detection. Exceeding/undercut of admissable pipeline filling level
is determined with the help of the back pressure of the backflowing wastewater. The
control device automatically closes/opens the operating seal via the electric motor.
The operating conditions can be assigned by means of four LEDs and the buzzer and
can be changed by means of two buttons.
