ADS 1000 update letter # 07-2410 {Sept. 33 2007}
Dear A.D.S. 1000 user,
It is vitally important that the “Gas Sampling System”
(elbow/feedback tube which connects to the breathing circuit),
always be in place during every surgical procedure. Failure to use
the Gas Sampling System or any attempt to bypass the Gas
Sampling System, may lead to serious injury or death to the
patient.
Accidental disconnection of the Gas Sampling System from the
breathing circuit may result in expansion of the patient’s lungs,
which may cause severe harm or death.
Please verify connections shown below, before and during each
procedure, especially if alarm sounds.
If it becomes necessary to interrupt a procedure for any reason, it is
recommended the A.D.S. 1000 be put into “SET “ mode. When
resuming the procedure, ensure that the Gas Sampling System is
properly in place before putting the A.D.S. back into “RUN”
mode.
NOTE: The audible alarm is in place to warn of potential
problems as they occur. When the cuff or a hose connection
becomes loose or disconnected, the inspiratory time will exceeds 3
seconds and the alarm will sound.
DO NOT IGNORE THE ALARM!
To avoid potential hazards, always use genuine Engler hoses and
fittings.
