Introduction
Ultrasonic Application
When using mounting tape to mount wafers, there is no indication on the tape
length at the machine. In order to measure the length of the tape, we use a
Ultrasonic sensor with resolution of less then to provide high accuracy of
measurement.
The user only need to submit initial length of tape, tape thickness and to set an
empty roll with only push of a button.
The Ultrasonic sensor is built with sender and receiver. It is counting pulses from the
moment that the ultrasonic wave was sent until the moment when the reflected
ultrasonic wave is back from an object to the sensor. With an easy calibration
process (factory setting by ADT) we can convert the pulses to current tape left
length, by a formula that developed by ADT.

The sensor’s measuring unit is pulse, in order to convert the pulse to mm, we using a calibration formula.
We take 2 reference points with known distance from the sensor. We measure the 2 points pulses values
from the sensor. And we create a calibration formula by using the line equation.

After the calibration process, still we need to convert ‘distance between sensor and current tape roll’
into ‘current tape left at the machine’. In order to do so, we at ADT developed a formula that convert
those 2 parameters.

Note: For full setup and activations please see the full 967 manual section 7.
Please do the followings before each new tape type installation.
1. To enter to the Tape Status Screen, at the main screen press
2. At the password screen, press ‘Enter’
3. Insert the password (256629) and press ‘Enter’ to confirm

I. Show how much tape left in meters
II. Set threshold in meters for showing ‘Warning Screen’
III. Set initial tape length in meters
IV. Set tape thickness in millimeters (including UV tape protective foil –if there is one)

Note: To toggle between II-IV clauses, use the ‘Left’ and ‘Right’ buttons.
To insert numeric values press ‘Enter’ and use the numeric keypad, to confirm press ‘Enter’.

6. At ‘Alarm Min (m)’ , set the threshold value. Under this value the ‘Warning Alert Screen’ will show before
each mounting. In order to disable the warning screen, insert ‘0’.
7. At ‘Init Length (m)’ , set the initial length of the tape.
8. At ‘Thickness (mm)’ , set the tape thickness. If UV tape then include the protective film.
9. Install an empty roll tape at the machine, and then press (‘Tape Left (m)’ will show 0).
10. Remove the empty roll tape, and install a new tape. (see ‘Tape loading’ section at the 967 full manual)
