Product Warranty (1 year)
Advantech warrants to you, the original purchaser, that each of its prod-
ucts will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for one year
from the date of purchase.
This warranty does not apply to any products which have been repaired or
altered by persons other than repair personnel authorized by Advantech,
or which have been subject to misuse, abuse, accident or improper instal-
lation. Advantech assumes no liability under the terms of this warranty as
a consequence of such events.
All defective products under normal / standard operation will be serviced
by Advantech’s global RMA system. If an Advantech product is defec-
tive, it will be repaired or replaced at no charge during the warranty
period. For out-of-warranty repairs, you will be billed according to the
cost of replacement materials, service time and freight. Please consult
your dealer for more details.
If you think you have a defective product, follow these steps:
1. Collect all the information about the problem encountered. (For
example, CPU speed, Advantech products used, other hardware
and software used, etc.) Note anything abnormal and list any
onscreen messages you get when the problem occurs.
2. Call your dealer and describe the problem. Please have your man-
ual, product, and any helpful information readily available.
3. If your product is diagnosed as defective, obtain an RMA (return
merchandize authorization) number from your dealer. This allows
us to process your return more quickly.
4. Carefully pack the defective product, a fully-completed Repair and
Replacement Order Card and a photocopy proof of purchase date
(such as your sales receipt) in a shippable container. A product
returned without proof of the purchase date is not eligible for war-
ranty service.
5. Write the RMA number visibly on the outside of the package and
ship it prepaid to your dealer.

Safety Instructions
1. Read these safety instructions carefully.

3. Disconnect this equipment from any AC outlet before cleaning. Use a
damp cloth. Do not use liquid or spray detergents for cleaning.
4. For plug-in equipment, the power outlet socket must be located near
the equipment and must be easily accessible.
5. Keep this equipment away from humidity.
6. Put this equipment on a reliable surface during installation. Dropping
it or letting it fall may cause damage.
7. The openings on the enclosure are for air convection. Protect the
equipment from overheating. DO NOT COVER THE OPENINGS.
8. Make sure the voltage of the power source is correct before connect-
ing the equipment to the power outlet.
9. Position the power cord so that people cannot step on it. Do not place
anything over the power cord.
10. All cautions and warnings on the equipment should be noted.
11. If the equipment is not used for a long time, disconnect it from the
power source to avoid damage by transient overvoltage.
12. Never pour any liquid into an opening. This may cause fire or electri-
cal shock.
13. Never open the equipment. For safety reasons, the equipment should
be opened only by qualified service personnel.
14. If one of the following situations arises, get the equipment checked
by service personnel:
a. The power cord or plug is damaged.
b. Liquid has penetrated into the equipment.
c. The equipment has been exposed to moisture.
d. The equipment does not work well, or you cannot get it to work
according to the user's manual.
e. The equipment has been dropped and damaged.
f. The equipment has obvious signs of breakage.
15. DO NOT LEAVE THIS EQUIPMENT IN AN UNCONTROLLED
ENVIRONMENT WHERE THE STORAGE TEMPERATURE IS
BELOW -20° C (-4° F) OR ABOVE 60° C (140° F). THIS MAY

Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1 Introduction
Advantech's FPM-3120G series consists of 12.1" color TFT LCD flat
panel monitors built specifically for industrial applications. With the
optional touchscreen, the FPM-3120G-RA series offers user-friendly sys-
tem control interfaces.
In addition to its usual application as an LCD panel monitor, the FPM-
3120G-XA Series comes standard with Direct VGA control signal input,
making it compatible with industrial PCs and workstations.
The OSD (On Screen Display) function allows you to adjust the display
and turn the backlight on and off, a function that is highly appreciated
among experienced users of industrial flat panel monitors.
The whole chassis is made of durable stainless steel, and the front panel is
of aluminum with NEMA4/IP65 compliance.
For different applications, we provide the two models with different reso-
lution. The FPM-3120G-XA series has original SVGA(800*600) resolu-
tion on 12.1" pane, while FPM-3121G-XA has XGA (1024*768)
resolution. This suits for applications that need more details.
For applications in harsh environments, FPM-3120G-XA can work at -10
~ 60° C (14 ~ 140 °F ), while FPM-3121G-XA can work at 0~50 °C
(32~122°F)
Products in the FPM-3120G-XA Series can also be provided in touch
screen versions (FPM-3120G-RA/3121G-RA and FPM-3120G-UA/
3121G-UA). With an 8-wire resistive type touchscreen, this monitor can
be immediately transformed into a remote control system. The Advantech
FPM-3120G-XA series is the ultimate HMI solution for your industrial
applications.

1.5 Connectors
The following connectors are on the bottom of the FPM-3120G-XA Series:
VGA Port (DB15)
This DB-15 connector can be connected to the system via the external 15-pin
DB-15 connector locatd on the left side of the system unit.
RS-232 Touchscreen Connector (DB9) (with FPM-3120G-RA &
FPM-3121-G-RA)
This connector will only be present if a touchscreen is installed. It must be
connected to the RS-232 port of the PC. The touchscreen cable is included
with all orders that include the touchscreen option.
USB Touchscreen Connector (USB type B) (with FPM-3120G-UA &
FPM-3121-G-UA)
This connector will only be present if a touchscreen is installed. It must be
connected to the USB port of the PC. The touchscreen cable is included with
all orders that include the touchscreen option.
DC 12V Power In
This connector connects to the DC 12V Switching Power Supply.

Warning:
Before you connect a VGA cable between the monitor and a PC, please
note the following issues.
1. If you have installed a operating system in the PC, make sure the ver-
tical frequency is within the acceptable range. (Refer to Appendix B)
2. If you have not installed a operating system, you have to adjust the
vertical frequency to fall within the range.

Chapter 2 System Setup
2.1 Mounting FPM-3120G-UA Series
Monitors in the FPM-3120G series can be flexibly mounted. The versatil-
ity of the FPM-3120G series mounts enable them to be mounted on your
desk or almost anywhere else.
2.1.1 Wall Mounting
Please refer to figure 2.1 and follow the steps below to install FPM-
3120G series on a wall. The wall mounting kit is optional. (P/N: FPM-
2150DESK-MT)
1. Screw the hook and wall-mounted brackets on the wall.
2. Place the FPM-3120G series in the bracket.

2.1.2 Panel Mounting
Refer to figure 2.2 and follow the instructions below to install in a panel.
1. Insert the FPM-3120G series’ into the cutout hole of the panel.
(The dimensions of the cutout is 292 x 234 mm (11.5 " x 9.22 "))
2. Place eight panel-mounting brackets on FPM-3120G series’ (2 on
the top, 2 on the bottom, 2 on the left, and 2 on the right).
3. Fasten the eight panel-mounting brackets with screws.
4. Mount the FPM-3120G series’ monitor on the panel by the screws
on the ten panel-mounted brackets.

2.2 Desktop, Swing-ARM for FPM-3120G Series
The FPM-3120G series’ monitors can also be mounted in other ways.
You can use the desktop stand for desktop use or attach it on a swing-arm
bracket.
2.2.1 Desktop Stand
Refer to figure 2.4. The desktop stand bracket is attached to the rear of
FPM-3120G series’. Simply attach the small bracket at the rear side of the
monitor by screwing the two screws. The bracket now becomes the desk-
top stand bracket.
The desktop stand kit is optional. (P/N: FPM-2150DESK-MT)

2.2.2 VESA ARM Mounting
