4. If one of the following situations occurs, have the equipment checked by service
personnel:
The power cord or plug is damaged.
Liquid has penetrated into the equipment.
The equipment has been exposed to moisture.
The equipment is malfunctioning, or does not operate according to the user
manual.
The equipment has been dropped and damaged.
The equipment has obvious signs of breakage.
5. Disconnect the equipment from all power outlets before cleaning. Use only a
damp cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid or spray detergents. Protect the
equipment from humidity.
6. Place the equipment on a reliable surface during installation. Dropping or letting
the equipment fall may cause damage. For pluggable equipment, the power out-
let socket must be located near the equipment and easily accessible.
7. Ensure the power source voltage is correct before connecting the equipment to
a power outlet. Position the power cord away from high-traffic areas. Do not
place anything over the power cord. If unused for a long time, disconnect the
equipment from all power sources to avoid damage from transient over voltage.
8. If the computer’s internal clock is consistently inaccurate or the BIOS configura-
tion settings have been reset to their default, the battery is lacking power.
Caution! To avoid short-circuiting and damaging the device, do not allow fluids to
contact the device. If fluids are accidentally spilled on the equipment,
remove the affected unit from service as soon as possible and contact
service personnel to verify that user safety is not compromised.
Caution! To prevent overheating, do not cover the openings nor store the device
in direct sunlight or near radiant heaters.
Caution! Do not store the equipment in an uncontrolled environment where the
temperature fluctuates below -20 °C (-4 °F) or above 60 °C (140 °F).
This may damage the equipment.
Caution! Do not attempt to replace the battery yourself. Contact a qualified tech-
nician for assistance.
The computer is provided with a battery-powered real-time clock circuit.
Batteries are at risk of exploding if incorrectly replaced. Replace only
with the same or equivalent type as recommended by the manufacturer.
Discard used batteries according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Caution! A battery charging indicator is not included with this device. Instead, it
should be added to the device during assembly to complete the entire
system.

9. Improper installation of VESA mount brackets can result in serious personal
injury. Installation of VESA mounts should be conducted by a professional tech-
nician. Contact your service technician or local sales support if you require this
service. The operating procedure is specified in Appendix A.

16. Grounding reliability can only be achieved when the equipment is connected to
an equivalent receptacle marked “Hospital Only” or “Hospital Grade”.
17. Use a power cord that matches the voltage of the power outlet, has been
approved, and complies with the safety standards for your particular country.

1.1 Introduction
POC-WP242 is a point-of-care (POC) terminal equipped with an Intel® Core™ i7/i5
processor and designed for data collection, information access, and general purpose
mobile computing in hospital environments. The PC-based system features a 23.8''
widescreen TFT LCD, dual on-board 10/100/1000 PCIe Ethernet controllers, and sin-
gle VGA port. In addition to HDMI Out, LAN, COM, USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. POC-
WP242 supports Intel® AMT 8.0 and a 24-bit stereo audio controller. The additional
inclusion of a 2.5" SATA interface ensures user friendly operation. Furthermore,
equipped with LCD protection and sealed I/O ports, POC-WP242 is specially
designed to resist damage from liquid and the accumulation of dust, thereby offering
a reliable solution for diverse application requirements.
For system integrators, this high-performance multimedia system can be easily inte-
grated with existing applications to provide an ideal and safe POC solution for
patients and medical professionals.
The POC-WP242 is intended to serve as a POC solution that can be integrated with
existing hospital systems. However, POC-WP242 should not be used as a life-sup-
port system.

1.4 POC Terminal Cleaning and Disinfecting
During normal use, the POC terminal may become dirty. Thus, the device should be
cleaned regularly.
Steps for Cleaning
1. Prepare cleaning agent as per the manufacturer’s instructions or the hospital’s
protocol.
2. Moisten a cloth with a suitable appropriate cleaning solution.
3. Use the moistened cloth to wipe the POC terminal thoroughly.
Below is a list of chemical disinfectants that have been tested and approved for use
on the POC terminal.

Caution!  Do not immerse or rinse the POC terminal or peripherals in liquid. If
liquid is accidentally spilled on the device, disconnect the unit from
the power source. Contact your Biomed Department regarding the
continued safety of the unit before returning it to operation.
 Do not spray cleaning agents on the chassis.
 Do not use disinfectants that contain phenol. Do not autoclave or
clean the POC terminal or peripherals with strong aromatic, chlori-
nated, ketone, ether, or esther solvents, nor sharp tools or abra-
sives. Never immerse electrical connectors in water or other liquid.

2.1 Quick Tour of POC-WP242
Before setting up POC-WP242, familiarize yourself with the locations and purposes
of the controls, drives, connections, and ports, as illustrated in the figures below.
When placed upright on a desktop, the POC-WP242 front panel appears as shown in
Figure 2.1.

Note! The equipotential terminal pin must be connected to the hospital’s
grounding/earthing system before bootup to protect both the operator
and the terminal.

2.2 Installation Procedures
2.2.1 Connecting a Power Cord
The POC-WP242 can only be powered by AC power. When manually handling power
cords, hold only the plug end.
Follow the steps below to connect a power cord.
1. Connect the female end of the power cord to the system (see Figure 2.2).
2. Connect the 3-pin male plug of the power cord to an electrical outlet.

POC-WP242 uses an IEC 60320 C5 coupler power cord. Users are reminded to pur-
chase the correct power cord for your power outlet.
Switching on the System Power
Press the power button on the POC-WP242 front panel. (The LED indicator should
emit a green light when the system is powered on.)
