PLACEMENT
The Remote Volume Control should be located in a central area where its front
panel can receive IR signals from the hand held remote.
CONNECTIONS
Important: Ensure the rear panel power cord is disconnected whenever
changing connections.
1) Connect one end of the supplied 9 pin control cable to the REMOTE
connector on the rear panel of the Callisto.
2) Connect the other end of the 9 pin control cable to the CONTROL connector
on the rear panel of the Remote Volume Control unit.
3) Manually turn both volume controls on the Callisto, to 0 (all the way counter-
clockwise).
4) Connect the AC power cable to the rear panel AC input on the Remote
Volume Control.
Note: If the control cable becomes disconnected while the Remote Volume
Control’s AC power is on, the synchronization between the two units may
be lost. If this happens, repeat steps 3 and 4 above.

OPERATION
DISPLAY
The numerical value on the left of the display indicates the left channel volume
and the value on the right indicates the right channel volume. If the two volumes
are the same, the display will indicate only one value in the center, which
represents both channels.
MUTE
Press the Mute button to activate the Mute feature. The LED above the Mute
button will illuminate. This will send a volume level of 0 to both the left and right
channels of the Callisto. The display will remain at the level values that were
present prior to the Mute being activated. This shows the user the volume level
that the Callisto will go to when Mute is deactivated. Press the Mute button once
more (Mute LED goes out) to deactivate the Mute feature and return the Callisto
to the volume level it was prior to activation.
PHASE
This is an optional feature. Press the button to activate/deactivate. When the
blue LED is off, the phase is normal. When the blue LED is on, the phase is
inverted. The button and LED function as described regardless of whether the
option is installed or not.
DOWN
Volume to both Left and Right channels is decremented by pressing the Down
button.
UP
Volume to both Left and Right channels is incremented by pressing the Up
button.

REMOTE CONTROL
When using the hand held remote control, first press the Calypso button. This
should only have to be done the first time after the batteries have been inserted
of if the Janus or Rhea button has been depressed.
Press the up button on the hand held remote to increment the volume of both
channels by one step. The volume will increment repeatedly if the button is held.
Press the down arrow on the hand held remote to decrement the volume of both
channels by one step. The volume will decrement repeatedly if the button is held.
The left/right balance can be controlled using the hand held remote only. To
adjust the balance, press either the left or right BAL button.
Example of Balance button behavior:
If the left BAL button is pressed once, the left volume on the Callisto is
incremented by one step and the right remains as it was. If the left BAL is
pressed again, the left volume on the Callisto remains the same while the right
volume decrements by one step. If the left BAL is pressed again, the left volume
on the Callisto is incremented by one step and the right remains as it was.
The volume range is 0 to 45. If the balance is NOT centered, the display will
show two separate values, indicated by 2 digits each. When the volume is raised
so that the loudest channel reaches its maximum (indicated by a value of 45 on
side of the display), the lower volume channel will increase if the volume is
raised. If the user desires to maintain the off center balance values when raising
the volume, do not increment the volume once the display shows 45 for one of
the channels. Alternately do not decrement the volume when one of the
channels reaches 0.

Maintenance
If the Callisto’s volume controls are adjusted manually, the Remove Volume
Control will sense and track the changes. From time to time it is possible that the
display will be inaccurate relative to the position of the volume control. If this
happens, manually turn both of the volume controls of the Callisto to 0, unplug
the AC power to the Remote Volume Control – wait 10 seconds and then
reconnect the AC power. The display on the Remote Volume Control should
read 0 for both channels (one 0 in the center). Using the hand held remote
control, bring up the volume.
The Remote Volume Control does not require any internal field maintenance. Do
not, under any condition, remove the top cover. Refer all service to Aesthetix
authorized service personnel.
