Please open the package carefully and check for damaged or missing parts.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Never connect the AFM Marine FR-2.0s Reactor (product) to the power outlet
whilst your hands are wet.
Do not allow the pump to run dry. Keep the pump submerged during
operation. Failure to do so could damage the pump and or cause failure.
Ensure that there is a drip-loop in the pump cord to prevent water running
down the cord and reaching the plug/power outlet.
Always unplug the product from the power outlet prior to product
maintenance.
RECOMMENDATIONS
While we take great care to keep any contaminates away from our products
during manufacture please take a moment to clean the reactor and plumbing
before use. (only clean your reactor with warm water; never clean with any
soap or chemicals and use caution when handling as acrylic scratches easily)
For best performance, please clean the reactor body chamber during routine
media swaps, and clear the top and bottom perforated media plate of debris
and growth with a soft brush.
Some media (such as phosphate control products) are not designed to be
aggressively uidised in a reactor - please read the instructions on your media
carefully.
Regular maintenance of the pump will ensure a long life and maximum
performance.
PTFE Tape is supplied to ensure that there is a water tight seal between the
screws and the lid which hold the upper uidising plate in place along with the
rubber gaskets. Please apply PTFE tape to the screws if required.
ASSEMBLING THE REACTOR
Remove any protective paper backing from the reactor and any transportation
tape from the reactor body.
To remove the lid loosen the four thumb screws and turn the lid counter
clockwise to release.
To remove the reactor base loosen the two thumb screws and turn counter
clockwise to release.
Install the required uidising plate, standard or bio pellets; one lter sponge
disc should be installed at this point if using the standard uidising plate with
sponge retainer (note not required if media used is Bio Pellets).
Reconnect the reactor body to the reactor base, turn clockwise to lock into
place and re-tighten the two thumb screws (Do Not Overtighten).
Insert the lower lter sponge disc if required and not already done so at point ‘c’.
Pour your chosen media into the body of the reactor. Note for media designed
to be fully uidised, the reactor should be led no more than two-thirds full, for
ne media you may need to add less.
Install the upper lter sponge disc if required, with or without the sponge
retainer.
Replace the lid and twist clockwise to lock into place and re-tighten the four
thumb screws (Do Not Overtighten).
Connect the water outlet of the pump to the main reactor body.
Ensure that the reactor can sit at on the sump oor and is not touching the
sides of the sump, baes or any plumbing.
The pump must be completely submerged underwater at all times during
operation.
Plug the pump into the power outlet and switch on.
Adjust the ow through the reactor to the desired level using the input control
dial.
