Solution/Action:
To solve the problem the Key/Display Board has to be modified. Follow the instr ctions
shown below.
The modification req ires the instr ments’ cover to be
removed. REMOVE THE POWER CORD BEFORE
STARTING REPAIR! Energy available at some points can,
if contacted, res lt in serio s personal inj ry.
CAUTION
Beca se the instr ment’s covers are removed and boards are
taken o t of the frame, the parts are to be installed at a stat-
ic-free workstation.
To get access to the keyboard:
Follow the instr ctions ‘Installation of Keyboard Assembly’ shown in the Service
Man al, page 2-13.
Remove the 8 screws fastening the keyboard to the front plate and caref lly remove the
board. Remove the ribbon cable from A1J1.

Do the following modification: (refer to page 6.3-29, Service Man al)
A1 Component Side, left pper corner
C t the +5 V line at the shown points (X)
Solder the WIRE and/or L1 to the shown points ()
Following shows the change to the schematics in the service man al.
Reassemble instr ments components and covers by reversing the above proced re!
