The Airocide® Technology
Congratulations on your purchase of the NASA developed Airocide®
Photocatalytic Air Purification System; developed to oxidize all air-
borne organic matter, even those too small to be filtered. Airocide’s
unique technology employs a reaction chamber packed with tiny sili-
cone tubes encrusted with a highly reactive titanium dioxide catalyst.
When energized by the system’s 253.7 nanometer UVG lamps, water
molecules are split and surface-bound hydroxyl radicals are formed.
Any organic matter, no matter how small, that contacts these HO- radi-
cals is instantly destroyed. Airocide is listed by the FDA as a Class II
medical device and has been shown by independent Air Quality Labs
to be free of any ozone emission. The process results in only trace
amounts of pure water vapor and CO2 . Airocide oxidizes mold spores,
mycotoxins, bacteria, viruses and VOCs (gasses) on contact. Proven on
the International Space Station and Space Shuttle flights, Airocide is
simply the one that NASA developed. Airocide works.

instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be
supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
Your Airocide® Air Purification System utilizes patented NASA developed technology. The heart of
this system is the reaction chamber. Never attempt to operate your Airocide® system without the
outer cover in place. Do not attempt to operate the Airocide® System with the reaction chamber cover
removed.
Optical Radiation Exposure
Skin or eye damage may result from directly viewing the light produced by the lamp in this apparatus.
Always disconnect power before relamping or servicing. Replace Lamp Only With Proprietary
Airocide Lamp Model No. TUV 8W T5, Manufactured Exclusively for Airocide. This light source is
safely contained within the reaction chamber. During normal use, it is not possible to become exposed
to the light source.

Airocide® Air Purification Systems are designed for continual operation, 24
hours a day, 7 days a week. For maximum effectiveness, once you start your
system, do not turn it off.
Ambient Environmental Temperature
Airocide® Systems are engineered to function within an ambient air
temperature range of 34°F to 95°F (1°C - 35°C). For environments in which
the average ambient temperature is outside this range, consult your
authorized Airocide® dealer prior to installation.
Minimal Maintenance
Airocide® Air Purification Systems are virtually maintenance free. Once per
year, the lamps and large particulate collector require replacement. Refer to
the Maintenance and Care section for details.
Energy Efficient Operation
Your system is designed with power efficiency in mind. The largest
Airocide® System utilizes less power than four 100-watt light bulbs.

10
User Interface Panel
The User Interface Panel is located on the left side of your Airocide®
System. This panel controls the operation of your unit and provides
information related to the operating status. The controls and indicators are
as follows:
On/Off – This switch is the primary power switch to turn the unit on and off.
Indicator Lights – These LED lights will provide information as to the
operating status of your unit as follows:
Power (Green) – This LED indicates the power status to the unit with
the following conditions:
•Solid – The unit is receiving current within the normal operating range.
• Off – If the green light is off and the power cord is plugged in and
the unit is turned on, then refer to the Trouble Diagnosis section for
details.
Overheat (Red) – This LED indicates an overheating issue with the unit.
• Off – When this LED is off, the Airocide® System is operating within
the normal temperature range.
• Flashing – If the Airocide® System has exceeded the normal operating
temperature range for an extended period of time, this LED will flash
and the unit will shut down. Refer to the Trouble Diagnosis section for
details.

11
Lamp Change (Yellow) – This LED indicates when a lamp change is nearing.
• Off – If this LED is off the unit is operating normally and a lamp change
is not required.
• Flashing – When this LED flashes, it is necessary to change the
Airocide® System’s reaction chamber lamp set. Refer to the
Maintenance and Care section for details.
Unit Status (Blue) – This LED indicates the operating status of the unit
with the following conditions:
•Solid – The Airocide® System is operating normally.
• Off – If the Power light is green and the System Status light is off,
Check to make certain the outer cover is properly secured. The unit
status light (Blue) will also go out if the overheat light (Red) is flashing.
For additional information on the operational status of the indicator lights, refer to the
Operating Parameters for System Status Indicator Lights on page 11 of this manual.

12
Air Outlet Port
Air that has been processed by the Airocide® System will exit the unit
through the air outlet port, located on the left side of the unit, adjacent to
the User Interface Panel. When choosing where to place your unit, make
certain that there is at least 3 feet (1 meter) of unobstructed space around
the Air Outlet Port. The outlet air will be warm.
Power Supply
The Airocide® System is designed to operate within a range of 100-240 VAC
in a single phase electrical environment.

13
Air Inlet System
The Airocide® System processes contaminated air by drawing it into the air
inlet system, consisting of the Air Inlet Port and Large Particulate Collection
Screen.

14
Air Inlet Port
The Air Inlet Port for the Airocide® System contains a large particulate
collector to prevent large inorganic particulate from entering the fan and
the reaction chamber. To open the air inlet door, turn the two access knobs
and fold the door down.
Large Particulate Collection Screen
Inside the air inlet port door housing, you will see the Large Particulate
Collector. Refer to the Maintenance and Care section for details on
cleaning or replacing the screen.

15
Outer Cover
Airocide® Systems are protected by a primary outer cover. This cover
should only be removed when it is necessary to change the Airocide®
System’s lamps. Refer to the Maintenance and Care section for details on
changing the lamps.

16
Reaction Chamber Access Door
When the outer cover is removed, the Reaction Chamber Access Door
may be opened. This access panel allows for quick and easy replacement
of the Airocide® System’s lamps. For safety purposes, there are screws that
secure the chamber panel. These must be removed in order to open the
reaction chamber access door. Refer to the Maintenance and Care section
for details on lamp replacement.
