MTC 10
multi tube condenser
MTC 10
multi tube condenser
Congratulations with the MTC 10 dual capsule tube condenser microphone! It will
perform great whenever you need a microphone for quality recordings. It can be
used for critical vocal recordings and the attachable pop-lter and a 100 Hz 6 db
/ octave High Pass Filter are useful tools for the job. You can also use it for any
other acoustic or electric instruments, as an overhead michrophone for drums and for
recording choirs.
For high pressure sound levels there is a – 10 db pad switch and don’t forget that it
has three different pattern, making it even more versatile. You can adjust the bass
response by changing the distance from the microphone to the sound source or using
the HP Filter.
Using the MTC 10
Attach the pop-lter and the shockmounth to the microphone and put it on a solid
stand. Connect the supplied 7 pin XLR cable between the MTC 10 and the PSU 10
power supply and a 3 pin XLR cable between the PSU 10 and the preamp/mixer.
The power supply needs 115 or 230V AC power and there is a fuse situated at the
AC input of the unit. Pull the holder out of its hole and change the fuse if needed.
Connect the supplied AC power cord between the PSU 10 and a grounded outlet.
Turn on the power of the mixer/preamp and do NOT use 48V phantom power, as the
mic has its own power supply. Then turn on the power of the PSU 10. Let the tube
warm up for about 15 minutes before use. This will give you an optimum preform-
ance and a long and healthy life of the tube. When you shut down the power of your
equipment, always start with the PSU 10 and wait for one minute before you turn
off the power of the mixer/preamp.
Precautions
The MTC 10 is a sensitive piece of equipment and should be handled carefully.
Always use the pop-lter when used on vocals or kickdrum and keep it in the case
for transport and storage. Be sure that the tea bag with the Silica Gel is kept together
with the microphone, to suck any possible moisture out of the electronics. Do not
put it inside or close to the front of a kickdrum. Avoid exposing it for direct sunlight
or extreme humidity for longer periods.
Warranty
Aktiv Audio warrants the product to be free in normal use of any defects in work-
manship and materials for two years from the date of purchase. The tube however
has a limited warranty of 6 months. This warranty does not cover abuse or misuse
of the product, use contrary to the instruction, accident, ordinary wear and tear or
unauthorized repair.
Should it ever need service, please contact your dealer.
