professional radio ”ALAN HP 68 L”.
Our principal goals when developing the ALAN HP 68 L has
been; simple and logical handling, high quality and robust
design. ALAN HP68 L complies with the European R&TTE Direc-
tive 1999/5/EC and has a protection rate according to IP54 and
MIL-STD 810 C, D, E.
The transceiver is delivered programmed with channels for hunt-
ing and radio location. The transceiver also has 38 standard
CTCSS tones which you easily can select per channel.
Introduction
Read the instruction in this handbook carefully before using the
radio.
Important information
• Never carry the transceiver by the antenna. This may damage
the antenna or the antenna terminal.
• Never service the radio by yourself. It may cause damage to

Rubber gasket to the accessory connector
Are you going to use an external speaker mike, earpiece or other
accessories we recommend that you replace the cover cap on
the accessory connector with the supplied rubber gasket. Unscrew
the lid and remove the screw. Insert the gasket in the accessory
connector and attach it with the screw from the lid.
I The supplied grommet should be tted nearest the screw top.
Don’t tighten the screw too hard it might deform the gasket.
I To protect the radio against moisture ensure that the gasket
always is tted when no accessories are used.
Using the radio (Basic operations)
On/Off
Turn the volume knob clockwise until you hear a click. The radio
performs a short auto-test thereafter the most recently selected
functions are shown on the display. Adjust the volume to a suitable
level, normally half volume.

Charging the battery
You charge the battery with the supplied desktop charger which is
connected to 230 Volt main current via the AC adapter. Connect the
cable of the AC adapter on the back of the desktop charger. The
battery is then inserted in the back of the charger. The charger can
be used to charge a radio with battery or just a battery.
The radio should be turned off during charging. Allow, if possible,
the battery to fully discharge before recharging it. The battery will
be fully charged after approx. 12 hours. You should then remove the
battery from the charger.
To ensure that the battery works well it’s important that you correctly
charge and discharge it.
The red light diode of the charger should glow when charging.
2 Check that the connectors on the back of the battery are touch-
ing the connectors of the charger.
2 A new battery doesn’t reach its maximum capacity until it has
been charged/discharged 3–4 times.
I The battery charger is for indoor use only.
I If the battery isn’t charged for some time it looses capacity
through self-discharge, up to 25% in one week. Therefore always
charge the battery at least once a month.
I Don’t overcharge the battery. Interrupt the charging after 12
hours.

CTCSS tones to choose among. When selecting the CTCSS tone
the frequency in Hertz is indicated in the display.
2 Certain radio makes displays the CTCSS tone with numbers
instead of the frequencies, see converting table for CTCSS tone.
