1.PlugtheCBantennacableintothe„ANT“socketofSWR‐20/SWR‐30.
2.Connectashortcoaxialcable(e.g.60cmorless)totheantennaplugoftheCBradioandtheXMTRsocketofSWR‐20/SWR‐30.
SWR‐MeasurementprocedureSWR‐20/SWR‐30(lowerswitchmustbeinSWRposition):
1.StartwithFWD/REF‐SwitchinFWD‐position.
2.TransmitasignalwiththeCBradio:PressPTTbutton.TheSWRMetermustshowadeflection.
3.TurnthepotentiometertoadjusttheSWRMeterreadingonthescaleexactlytotheSET‐position.
4.NowswitchtheFWD/REF‐selectortoREF‐position.DieneedleoftheSWR‐meterwillnowshowtheSWRvalue.
5.Tunetheantennatobestvalue(=lowestSWRreading)onyourmostimportantCBworkingchannel.ThesmallertheSWRreading,the
betteristheSWRresult(besttheoreticallyobtainablevalueisVSWR1:1whichcorrespondstoSWR=1).
GoodantennasshowSWR=1.0to1.8,valuesofSWR=3andhigherareasymptomforbadalignmentand/ordefectivecable,shortcircuitor
interruptioninoneoftheplugs‐

3.Transmitwithyourradio,thereadingshowsthetransmitpower(max.accuracyabout10%)
Thetestresultdependsonthematchingoftheantenna.WerecommendtoperformPowerMeasurementsonlywithDummyLoads.Thepower
valuesofSWR30arevalidonlyfortheCBand10mfrequencyranges.
PleaseobservetheEuropeanregulations.Accessoryitemswithactiveelementsinside(likeSWRmeters)areonlyallowedtobeusedfortestingof
equipmentandmustberemovedfromtransmissionlineduringnormaloperation,becausesuchdevicescanincreasetheharmonicsradiationofyour
radiostationabovetheallowedlevels.IfYoutransmitpermanentlywithinsertedSWRMeter,Youmaycauseinterferencesinotherreceiving
systems,likeradio+TVintheneighborhoodofyourstation.
