1 INTRODUCTION
The PASS2M (Personal Active Secured Sensor, 2nd Generation) is
part of Alanco Technologies’ TSI PrismTM System which is the
premier safety technology for corrections environments, providing
real time, continuous monitoring of inmates, officers, staff.
The PASS2M is worn on the wrist and is used for location and
identification of the individual wearing the unit.
2 OPERATION
2.1 PASS2 INSTALLATION
The PASS2M is attached to the wearer with a strap. The PASS2M is
shipped in OFF Mode to prevent transmissions during transport and
does not begin to transmit until the strap is attached.
The PASS2M waits a programmable amount of time after the final
strap connection before fully powering up. If the strap should pop
loose during this installation wait time, the wait time will start over
again when the strap is again connected. During the wait time, the
PASS2M will transmit only when both ends of the strap are attached
to the PASS2M. If the strap pops off, transmissions will stop. During
the wait time, dummy statuses are sent (battery is good, strap is
connected and body is detected).

After the installation wait time is over, the PASS2M calibrates the
Body Sense circuitry.
Warning!! It is vitally important that the installer finish PASS2M
installation and NOT be touching the PASS2M prior to the end of the
wait time to avoid affecting the Body Sense circuit calibration.
Warning! To avoid confusing the PASS2M into thinking it is attached
to a wearer, the PASS2M strap must not be attached to both case
connections prior to being attached to a wearer.
2.2 PASS2M REMOVAL
The PASS2M begins to shut-down when the strap is removed. There
are two parts to this shut-down process.
First, within a programmable amount of time after the strap is opened,
the PASSM can be reinstalled on a wearer without having the
PASS2M recalibrate the Body Sense circuitry.
If the PASS2M is removed for longer than the time set by Command
C2, the PASS2M will recalibrate the Body Sense Circuitry after the
waiting time after the strap is reattached. This can be used to remove
the PASSM from one wearer and install it on another.
To prevent transmissions during transport, the PASS2M turns OFF
after the wrist strap has been disconnected or cut for a programmable
amount of time. During that time period, the PASS2 transmits a Strap
Cut Status.
The PASS2M can also be turned ON via the serial port with the O
Command and OFF with the ZCommand.
