Product Overview
Research shows that the cumulative impact of sitting all day is associated with a range of health problems,
from obesity to diabetes to cancer. The average office worker spends 5 hours 41 minutes sitting each day
at a desk.
The Stiga desk contributes to increased focus, alertness & activity levels. When standing you are able to
release restless energy & combined with improved blood circulation, stable blood sugar levels & an active
metabolism, focus is improved to complete the task ahead.
But don’t take our word for it, we are happy to forward the article published in the British Medical Journal
along with other research reports. There is also a handy guide on ‘How to Use Your Sit Stand Desk’
published by the Smart Work & Life organisation.
Alchemy’s Stiga desk, offers easy to use electric powered height adjustable workstations. The products
incorporate collision detection technology as standard. The solution is based on an integrated giro within
the control box. The giro reacts to any obstruction when raising or lowering the work surface & halts, then
reverses at the point of collision. The desk adjusts from 650mm to 1300mm high.

Specification
Stiga SitStand desk is designed and manufactured for use within the most demanding of environments
(including the education sector).
Stiga offers easy to use electric powered height adjustable workstations that can be mixed with fixed
height options –2 solutions with a common aesthetic.
Frame –constructed from medium to heavy gauge steel tube with cross bars of varying lengths,
powder coat finish –black, white, grey. There is an option for a chrome wrap to the foot.
Tops - Square edge table tops are fabricated from 25mm thick MFC (melamine faced chipboard) with
2mm ABS edging with 2mm radiused edges & corners. All tops are pre drilled & are inserted with M6
inserts.
Tops are machined with apertures if power, data & charging modules are required & machined for M6
inserts to take cable tray brackets. Maximum single piece top size is 2400mm x 1400mm. Single piece
tops have the grain running the length, multiple piece tops have the grain running the width. There are
a wide range of table top finish options.
Cable Management –steel flip down cable tray suspended from the upper frame.
Screens –a wide range of screen options are available. Please see the screens product manual for
options, specification & finishes.
Height Actuators & Control Gear –the Stiga desk incorporates collision detection technology as

Cable Management

Horizontal cable management is achieved by specifying the optional drop down cable tray, which can
be hinged down from either sides of the desk for access to cables & power/data provision.
Cable trays can be specified full length or short. The short cable tray leaves space to the left or right
for a under desk mounted CPU cradle or personal storage drawer.
Cable trays can be mounted centrally or towards the rear of the desk if more knee space is required.
Cables are transmitted from floor to cable tray via an expanding vertical cable spiral with weighted
base.

Qualifications:
Metalwork
Steel inherently is a 100% recyclable material. It can be recycled at any point during its existence and can be
re-used again and again without weakening the material.
However, both of the largest UK steel manufacturers only guarantee up to a maximum content of 55%
recycled steel as part of any new batch produced. Our steel is sourced from either of these two companies.
MFC
We use 18 & 25mm Melamine Faced Chipboard, with the industry standard 2mm pvc edge detail. This board
is sourced from responsible UK suppliers, who use the leading European board manufacturers; Kronospan
and Egger. 30% of the woodchips used in the creation of the board is from recycled material, with a further
35% from sawmill waste such as sawdust, shavings & bark. Wood that is not suitable for MFC is transformed
into environmentally-friendly electricity and heat in biomass power plants, eliminating 1,487,001 tonnes of
CO₂from the environment, as compared to energy generation using natural gas. Our UK suppliers as
standard, supply 70% of all boards from FSC compliant source and are fully FSC and PEFC chain of custody
certified. However, we can on request, offer 100% FSC compliancy on the boards supplied.

Relocation
All furniture should be picked up & NOT dragged. Linked items should be separated
before relocating.
All fixings are reusable.

Maintenance

Alchemy underframes are considered to be maintenance free, however the following should
be observed during the products lifetime:-
Frames - Where cleaning of the frame is required a mild detergent solution should be used.
The use of harsh abrasives, acids, alkalis or bleaching products is not recommended.
Tops –Dust regularly. Clean hard surfaces with a damp cloth & then polish with a soft dry
cloth, microfibre cloths are ideal for both purposes. On wood grain effect MFC wipe & polish
in the direction of the grain. DO NOT use spray polishes/cleaners or waxes which may
damage the finish & result in an undesirable sheen & a sticky build-up which can be difficult to
remove.
For heavier general soiling & marks on hard surfaces soak a cloth in a mild solution of soapy
water, wring until damp, not dripping wet, & wipe the surface concerned. Then wipe with a
clean, not soapy, damp cloth & finish by drying with a soft cloth.
To remove tape/sticker residue, grease, chewing gum, make-up & adhesives, try ‘De-solv-it
Sticky Stuff Remover’, available on line & in some hardware stores. Other stubborn marks
can sometimes be removed with Isopropyl Alcohol, available from Chemist. Use both these
sparingly & with care.
Remember to clean the underside of computer mice & keyboards. A build up of grease & grit
under these & similar components can cause abrasion & scratching of the surface, We
recommend the use of mouse mats to prevent scratching & premature wear to work surfaces.
General - Following these simple maintenance procedures will enable trouble free use.
Should any components appear to be loose the cause should be investigated without delay &
the appropriate fixing tightened where possible. If this does not provide a solution please
contact Alchemy Furniture.
