1.1 About the manual
T ese guides offer important warnings about safety and your responsibility as t e vessel’s
owner. All t e information provided in t is publication is based on t e latest information
available at t e time of printing. Due to our policy of continuous product improvement, we
reserve t e rig t to apply c anges at any time and wit out prior notice in t e specification
of t e models as well as in case of cancellation of any models. Furt ermore, we reserve
t e rig t to c ange t e specifications, t e components or additional equipment w enever
and wit out any obligations to models produced prior t e date of suc c anges. Alfastreet
Marine recommends a periodical visit of our website www.alfastreet-marine.si, w ere you
can find additional and new information as well as t e FAQ section.
1.1.1 Warning signs and symbols
T e manual also provides warning signs. T ese ave different meanings and levels of
importance, it is t erefore necessary to carefully read t e content of t e t ree warning
signs below.
1.2 Other manufacturer's user guides
T e vessel Energy-18 features equipment and various components from different
manufacturers. T e equipment and t e components are only mentioned in t is manual as
all t e manuals, user guides, warranty statements and detailed information on t e
equipment and t e components are collected in a special folder (Additional equipment). If

v1.0 www.alfastreet-marine.si 7

Energy 18 – User Guide
1.3.1 Navigation ability
Reading, understanding and using t is user guide is just as important as learning to
adequately control t e vessel. T is publication IS NOT a course on safe navigation and is
also NOT a manual on ow to operate, ow to anc or and ow to tie t e vessel. A safe
control of t e vessel requires more skills, knowledge and awareness t an is required for
driving a car or lorry.
As t e driver, owner and user of t e vessel you are responsible for it, t erefore it is
necessary to inform yourself on safety and complete a course on safe navigation.
Furt ermore, inform yourself on t e correct andling of t e vessel in case of emergency.
As t e vessel traffic in closed seas is denser, you s ould also learn t e rules of operating,
avoiding and manoeuvring t e vessel.
1.3.2 Registration of the vessel
Every vessel needs to be included in t e register before its first departure. T is is carried
out in t e office aut orised for t e registration of vessels. In Slovenia, t is can be done at
t e Maritime Directorate of t e Republic of Slovenia. For furt er information about t e
registration you can contact t e Directorate or visit t eir website
ttp://www.up.gov.si/si/storitve/vpis_colnov/ . It is imperative t at t e registration is done
before t e first departure.
Apart from t e registration in t e country in w ic t e vessel is most commonly used, it is
also necessary, in t e event of navigating into t e seas of anot er country, to inform
yourself on a possible additional registration of t e vessel, as it is required by some
countries. T e easiest option to do t is is at t e office w ic issues t e navigation permit.
1.3.3 Vessel categories
T e vessels are divided into four categories, according to t eir navigation capacity in
various weat er conditions:
A. Ocean navigation area
Hig est wind speed: over 40 knots (over 20.6 m/s)
Wave eig t: over 4m
T e vessel can navigate in t e ocean.
B. Offs ore navigation area
Hig est wind speed: up to 40 knots (up to 20.6 m/s)
Wave eig t: up to 4m
T e vessel can navigate in t e ig seas.
C. Ins ore navigation area
Hig est wind speed: up to 27 knots (up to 13.9 m/s)
Wave eig t: up to 2m
T e vessel can navigate in t e coastal area, larger gulfs, lakes and rivers.
D. S eltered coastal area
Hig est wind speed: up to 15 knots (up to 7.7 m/s)
Wave eig t: up to 0.5m
T e vessel can navigate in smaller lakes, rivers and canals.
v1.0 www.alfastreet-marine.si 8

Energy 18 – User Guide
Your vessel Energy 18 satisfies t e requirements of t e category C and D.
T e information on t e ig est wind speed and wave eig t included in t e above text do
not mean t at t e vessel would sink above t e mentioned wind and wave limits. T e
information means t at you would be able to safely navigate wit your vessel in suc
weat er conditions. Nevert eless, it is necessary to inform yourself on t e conditions at
sea before t e departure, in order to avoid storms or ot er inconveniences at sea. It is
also necessary to be aware of any c ange of weat er during t e navigation, as bad
weat er, ig waves etc. can catc you very quickly, w ic can seriously t reaten your
safety as well as t e safety of your passengers.
1.3.4 Weather conditions:
Before and during t e navigation you s ould pay special attention to t e following:
•inform yourself on t e weat er forecast and weat er conditions at sea before your
departure from t e marina,
•a sudden c ange in t e wind speed or direction as well as in t e wave eig t can
signal a fast deterioration of t e weat er,
•if you notice a storm approac ing, navigate immediately to t e nearest marina or
quay,
•if you are surprised by a storm during t e navigation, make sure all passengers are
seated and direct t e prow towards t e wind maintaining enoug speed to slowly
move forward,
•c eck if all passengers on board ave an adequate life jacket,
•if you navigate into a dense fog, determine your position, lower your speed and
warn ot er vessels of your presence,
•w en a t understorm is approac ing, it is very important to tie t e vessel along t e
coast as quickly as possible and disembark. Do not stay in t e water during t e
lig tning, as t at would increase your possibility of being struck.
Safety in water traffic
T e water surface does not feature any road lanes, indicators or similar elp found in road
traffic. T erefore t e vessel’s conductor must be even more aware of all sides of t e vessel
and not just t e direction of navigation.
Failure to consider safety rules and negligence can quickly lead to serious injuries of t e
people on board or even deat , as t e consequence of accidents.
v1.0 www.alfastreet-marine.si 9

Energy 18 – User Guide
1.3.5 General navigation safety rules
Always be aware of your surrounding during t e navigation and follow t ese rules:
•Always conduct t e vessel wit an adequate speed, w ic ensures a safe navigation
for all passengers on board,
•Always pay attention to t e traffic in t e direction of navigation ad well as around
t e vessel, especially before you c ange t e direction of navigation.
•Reduce t e speed of t e vessel, pay attention to its surrounding, not only t e
direction of navigation, and turn on t e vessel’s navigation lig ts w en:
•t e visibility is reduced,
•in turbulent water,
•in dense traffic.
•Always departure after getting enoug sleep or after enoug rest. In case you fall
asleep w en controlling t e vessel, you can cause it to sink or cras into anot er
vessel or participant in t e traffic on water. You are also fully responsible for t e
damage caused by falling asleep during t e navigation.
T e conductor of t e vessel must always pay attention to t e vessels approac ing from all
sides. He must also pay attention to t e bat ers, partly sunk wrecks and ot er objects in
water w ic are dangerous to t e navigation (trunks, reefs, s allows, strong currents,
etc).
T e passengers on your vessel rely on you to take care of t eir safety and t e safety of
t e navigation by maintaining an adequate speed and by respecting t e navigation safety
rules. You s ould also make sure t at you do not expose your passengers to danger wit
quick manoeuvres, suc as turning, sudden increasing or reducing of t e speed. During
weat er c anges or reducing daylig t t at result in low visibility, you must adjust t e
speed of t e vessel to t e momentary navigational conditions. By doing so, you gain
enoug time and space to avoid danger.
1.3.6 Planning the navigational route
In order to avoid navigating in dangerous waters wit potentially dangerous reefs, sunken
objects, s allows, dangerous currents and similar perils, it is necessary to prepare, prior to
your departure, a detailed navigational route w ic you plan to follow.
During t e planning of t e route you s ould use adequate navigational tools w ic you
know ow to use and understand t eir importance. You s ould also take into account t e
guidelines of experienced guides and sailors and consider t e most appropriate time of
navigation for your navigational route area (tide). In case of navigating in unknown
waters, wit out knowing t e possible dangers, navigate wit low speed and carefully
observe t e surrounding area as well as t e direction of navigation, in order to avoid any
potentially dangerous situations.
Make sure t at ot ers know w ere you are.
T erefore, before departure inform your family members and friends about t e following:
•t e planned direction of your navigation,
•t e envisaged date and time of return,
•t e description of t e vessel,
v1.0 www.alfastreet-marine.si 10

Energy 18 – User Guide
•t e number of passengers on t e vessel.
In case of emergency t ese information can be transferred to t e coastal station or t e
rescue boat crew w ic will be sent to elp you, t us, considerably increasing t e
possibilities of your rescue and limiting t e possibilities of serious injuries of t e
passengers. It is also important to inform t em about your arrival to t e destination, as
failure to do so could result in a false alarm!
1.4 Supplier's responsibilities
T e supplier guarantees t e vessel wit t e determined equipment, service and
examination of t e boat before t e supply and at any time after t e supply as well as t e
possibility of complaint in case of proven defects on t e vessel. Furt ermore, e offers an

You must keep a complete first aid kit on board. During t e navigation you will be situated
a long distance from an ambulance station, t erefore t ere s ould be at least two trained
rescue workers on board, w o ave completed t e first aid course.
B. Water rescue:
If a person falls into t e water wit below 20oC, t ere is a great c ance t at t e person
will drown due to ypot ermia. T erefore it is very important to pull t e person onto t e
vessel as soon as possible.
T is can be done in t e following ways:
•by returning to t e person in t e water,
•by calling t e person in t e water,
•by pulling t e person out of t e water and on board t e vessel.
Returning to the person in the water
•inform everyone on board about t e accident,
•carefully observe t e person in t e water,
•carefully navigate towards t e person in t e water,
•if t e rescue takes place at nig t, make sure to direct as muc lig t as possible
towards t e person in t e water to maximise t e person’s visibility,
•t row a rescue ring to t e person in t e water, even if t is person is already
wearing a life jacket.
Calling the person in the water
•reduce t e speed and navigate around t e person in t e water,
•approac t e person in t e water so t at t e person is on t e windward side of t e
vessel,
•w en you are close to t e person in t e water, switc off t e motor to avoid any
injuries of t e person wit t e propeller.
Pulling the person in the water on board
•try to pull t e person in t e water towards t e vessel wit a paddle or rope,
•do not swim towards t e person in t e water, unless necessary,

Energy 18 – User Guide
•elp t e person in t e water to get on board (t e easiest way is across t e stern),
•if t e person in t e water is injured or cannot reac t e deck by imself, someone
on board must put on a life jacket w ic is attac ed to t e vessel wit a safety rope
and t e said person picks up t e injured person in t e water,
•w ile t e pulling t e person on board, be extremely careful as t e said person
mig t ave suffered injuries to t e spine or ot er parts of t e body.
C. Fire
Fire is a very serious accident w ic can occur on board, as t e vessel can burn down
quickly. If you do not manage to put out t e fire in a few minutes, focus on your rescuing
instead of on extinguis ing t e fire. Abandon t e vessel. Keep t e portable fire
extinguis ers at and as t e starting small fires can be put out quickly and easily. It is also
important t at t e portable fire extinguis ers on board are of a suitable type.
•Extinguis all smoking objects,
•switc off t e motor, t e fans, t e ovens,
•if possible, t row t e burning objects out of t e vessel,
•if possible, direct t e squirt of t e extinguis ing agent into t e source of t e fire
and not t e top of t e flame,
•if t e vessel features an automatic fire extinguis ing system for its motor, wait for
15 minutes after t e system’s activation before you lift t e cover of t e motor. Keep
t e portable fire extinguis er at and.
•Call for elp,
•activate t e digital call for elp (GMDSS), if you ave t e necessary equipment on
board,
•put on a lifebuoy and prepare to abandon t e vessel.
D. Sinking, capsizing of the vessel
In case of sinking or capsizing of t e vessel:
•try to switc off t e motor and t e electrical equipment before leaving t e vessel,
•c eck if everyone on board is wearing properly fastened life jackets,
•c eck if all passengers managed to save t emselves from t e sinking vessel,
•if t e vessel is sinking, stay near t e vessel, try to board it and activate t e elp
signal (signal rockets),
•in extreme cases, try to swim towards t e s ore. Do not forget t at t e s ore is
furt er t an it seems and t ere is t e possibility of drowning due to ex austion
during swimming.
E. Collision and flooding
In t e event of collision wit anot er vessel or object in t e water or in t e event of
flooding:
•lower t e speed of navigation to reduce t e amount of water breaking into t e
vessel,
•switc on t e water pump,
v1.0 www.alfastreet-marine.si 18

Energy 18 – User Guide
•use also t e manual water pump,
•c eck if all passengers are on board and if anyone is injured,
•all passengers must put on t e life jackets,
•activate t e call for elp,
•in t e event of flooding, put a large clot , clot ing or similar into t e ole from
w ic t e water is breaking into t e vessel in order to stop t e flooding. T e best
option is to put t e clot into t e ole from t e exterior side of t e vessel.
•In t e event of collision, it is necessary to file a report on t e accident and notify
t e nearest coastal station.
F. Running aground
In t e event of t e s ip running aground:
•c eck if t e water is breaking into t e vessel. In t is event, put a clot or piece of
clot ing into t e ole before you try to pus t e vessel back into t e water.
•C eck for any visible damages to t e body, t e propulsion system or t e system for
turning t e vessel.
•Determine if t e water current and t e wind will pus t e vessel furt er into land or
if t ey will elp to return t e vessel into t e water.
•Verify t e dept of t e water around t e vessel and t e type of floor (sand, stone).
Move t e vessel away from t e spot of collision or running aground towards deep
water, but only if t is can be anyw ere done safely wit out exposure to danger.
•Your vessel s ould be pulled only by a crew experienced in towing or by a vessel of
adequate organizations and institutions (t e arbor office, coastal station, marine
police, military etc.). Recreational and sports vessels are not intended for towing
ot er vessels.
G. Breakdown of the motor or the manoeuvring system
In t e event of a breakdown of t e motor or of t e system for manoeuvring t e vessel:
•switc off t e vessel’s motor immediately,
•anc or t e vessel in order to prevent an uncontrolled navigation (wit t e current),
•c eck if you can fix t e error by yourself. Consult t e adequate manuals for
descriptions on ow to repair t e breakdown.
•If you are not sure on ow to repair t e error on your own, activate t e call for
elp.
3.7 Phone numbers for emergency calls
In t e event of accidents, an emergency call can be made t roug t e radio station, if you
ave it on board, or by p one on t e following p one numbers:
•080 10 88 … contact centre for emergencies at sea
•112 ….......... contact centre for calls in distress 112
•113 ….......... police

3.8 Problems with manoeuvring the vessel
T e use of illegal drugs and/or alco ol ampers t e safe conduction of t e vessel and is
also t e most common cause of accidents wit severe and tragic injuries. T e influence of
t ese substances increases in t e strong sun, wind and waves, as well as ot er weat er
features and leads to irrational and too slow reactions to t e dangers on water, resulting
in an inevitable accident.
T erefore, it is very important t at t e person conducting t e vessel is fully focused,
sober, as ad enoug rest and is entirely concentrated on t e navigation.
