Please read about SAFETY before you attempt to use the AUT-8000
SILVER STEP-UP TRANSFORMER - we care about our customers and the
equipment, and we want you to enjoy this product for a long time!

INTRODUCING THE AUT-8000 SILVER STEP-UP TRANSFORMER
The AUT-8000 Silver is Allnic Audio’s Step-up Transformer. Like all Allnic Audio
products, it uses Permalloy (iron and nickel alloy) for its transformer (step-up)
cores. Allnic is grateful to Mr. G.W. Elmen of Western Electric for inventing
Permalloy for transformer core use, and in so doing, providing an enormous service
to recorded music listeners everywhere.
The AUT-8000 Silver Step-up Transformer has the following features:
• Silver wire windings on the AUT-8000 Silver’s permalloy transformers and silver
connection wire throughout. Silver has the lowest electrical resistance of any
metal. It is 6% lower than that of copper. All electrical energy loss in a
transformer is a result of both coil loss and core loss. The AUT-8000 Silver’s
permalloy transformer cores wound with silver coils significantly reduce such
loss. This results in significant, clearly audible, enhanced information transfer
from the AUT-8000 Silver’s step-up MC transformers.
• Use of a five-sectioned sandwich winding method for the transformers reduces
leakage, inductance and capacitance. This significantly improves high frequency
response.
• Dual unbalanced (RCA) moving coil phono inputs. Two pairs of RCA inputs allow
the use of two tonearms with easy switching between them.
• Four step impedance selector. A single selector controls both channels
simultaneously, and provides resistances of 10K, 20K, 30K, and 47 K. This range
will accommodate almost any MC cartridge.
• Easy, push-button muting.
• The AUT-8000 Silver is relatively small and may be installed near the turntable,
allowing the use of interconnection cables that are as short as possible.
• The AUT-8000 Silver has been designed and manufactured to work most
synergistically with other Allnic Audio products, for example the Allnic phono-
stages and preamplifiers.
• As are all Allnic Audio products, the AUT-8000 SILVER is fully RoHS (EU Reduction
of Hazardous Substances regulation) compliant in construction and materials.

WHAT’S IN THE BOX?
Please check that the shipping box contains the following:
• One (1) Allnic AUT-8000 Silver Step-up Transformer – in natural aluminum or
black finish in accordance with your order
• One (1) Owner’s Manual
We advise that you keep the box and other packing materials that your AUT-8000
Silver came in. It will be useful if you sell your AUT-8000 Silver or in the unlikely event
you need to ship it for service.
SAFETY
• Pull cables by pulling the plug, not the cable.
• Do not attempt any repairs. Do not remove the units’ chassis covers without
specific authorization from Allnic Audio or its authorized representative.
• Keep the cables away from heat sources and liquids.
• Keep the unit away from liquids – do not allow any liquid to enter the interior of
the unit.
• When the unit is moved from a cold to a warm environment, allow sufficient time
for any condensation to evaporate.
• Do not remove the unit’s chassis cover without specific authorization from Allnic
Audio or its authorized representative.
• See the notes on “Location, Location, Location”.
CLEANING
A. Chassis
Use only a soft, lint-free cloth dampened slightly with water only (NO cleaning fluids!) to
clean the faceplate and chassis of the AUT-8000 Silver.
B. Connectors
You may use any good quality contact cleaner recommended for such applications to
clean the contacts from time to time, as you deem appropriate.

INITIAL SET-UP
A. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
• DO NOT cover the top of the AUT-8000 Silver.
• DO NOT subject the AUT-8000 Silver to knocks and shocks as you move it around.
This advice is meant particularly for those who may want to place the AUT-8000
Silver on after-market isolation feet or similar devices. Dropping one side of the
AUT-8000 Silver, or the whole unit, is not a good thing to do and damage incurred
by doing so will not be covered by warranty.
• DO NOT place the AUT-8000 Silver near any strong heat source.
• DO NOT place anything heavy on the AUT-8000 Silver.
• DO NOT allow rubber or vinyl materials to rest on the AUT-8000 Silver’s chassis for
long periods of time. This could discolour the metal.
• DO place the AUT-8000 Silver on a solid shelf or stand that is stable and not subject
to vibration or sudden shock.
• DO consider using high-quality inter-connects for both inputs and outputs. The
AUT-8000 Silver is a highly sensitive piece of electronic designed for neutrality and
will output what you put into it.
• DO try to place the AUT-8000 Silver away from major sources of RFI and EMI;
though well shielded, the AUT-8000 Silver will function best away from large power
transformers and other sources of such interference.
B. INPUTS
There are two (2) pairs of single-ended (RCA) inputs located in the centre of the chassis
rear plate. They are labelled MC 1 and MC 2 and are arranged in pairs horizontally, one
above the other. The left channel input connections are on the right when you are
facing the AUT-8000 Silver’s rear panel (on the left when you are facing the front of the
unit). The right channel input connections are on the left when you are facing the AUT-
8000 Silver’s rear panel (on the right if you are facing the front of the unit). Please see
Figure 1.
In the centre of the square cornered by the four RCA input connections on the rear of
the AUT-8000 Silver’s chassis is a screw type connector. This connector is the ground
connection for ground wires from cartridges and/or turntable. Please see Figure 1.
C. OUTPUTS
The AUT-8000 Silver is equipped with one pair of single-ended (RCA) outputs. The right
and left channel output connections are the left-hand (when facing the rear – see Figure
1) horizontally aligned pair of RCA connections and are labelled for the right and left

7
channels, with the right channel connector closest to the left edge of the panel (again,
when facing the rear panel and the opposite when facing the front panel).
OPERATION
Be sure you have turned the volume down or otherwise muted your preamplifier before
connecting the AUT-8000 Silver. Also, make sure all your connections are snug.
At this point, if you have not already done it, turn the impedance selector located in the
centre of the front panel to the resistance that, based on your cartridge’s specifications,
is most likely to work best with it. The impedance selector controls both channels and
the resistance scale is 10K ohms, 20K ohms, 30K ohms, and 47K ohms. See Figure 2.
Next, turn the two front panel gain selection switches to the gain that you think will
work for your moving coil cartridge. See Figure 2.
Each position on the +#dB gain scale on each channel’s front panel rotating selector
indicates an increase in gain and corresponds to a factor that relates to cartridge
millivolt output. The settings description below provides each +#dB setting and its
corresponding output factor increase. You should use identical gain settings for both
transformers to avoid channel imbalance.
The possible settings are:
• +22dB (13 X) Gain
• +26dB (20 X) Gain
• +28dB (26 X) Gain
• +32dB (40 X) Gain

1. Turn Ratio of MC Step-up Transformer and dB Gain

8
You may easily experiment with different combinations of impedance and gain settings
to find the one best suited for your cartridge.
From this point on, operation is straight-forward. Of course, always be sure you have
muted the AUT-8000 Silver and/or turned the volume down or otherwise muted your
preamplifier before changing gain or impedance on the AUT-8000 Silver’s front panel
selectors.
Also, always BE CAREFUL about differences in gain between your sources. Generally,
streamers, disc and tape players and tuners will have greater gain than phono stages,
with or without step-up transformers. That means the volume setting for listening to
your turntable might be too high for listening to radio, tapes, CDs or streaming.
In case of any failure, please contact your Allnic Audio representative.
