frequency
adjustment
allow
you
to
precisely
tailor
the
response

your
audio
system
to
compensate
for
the
acoustic
environment
of
your
car
and,
more
importantly,
customize

sound

your
indi-
vidual
taste.
To
realize
the
exceptional
performance
capabilities
of
this
product,
it
is
necessary
that
all
signal
sources,
amplifiers,
speakers,
and
interconnection
devices
are
of
the
highest
sonic
quality.

recommend
using

Head
Units,

Should
you
have
any

1.
Improper
wiring
connections
could
cause
damage
to
your
vehicle's
electrical
system
and/or
the
3342
equalizer.
Carefully
follow
the
wiring
instructions
in
this
manual.
2.
Attaching
the
battery
lead
to
the
positive
(+)
terminal
of
the
battery
should
be
the
last
connection
after
all
other
connections
are
made.
3.
Be
sure
that
the
3342
is
mounted
in
a
way
that
will
allow
for
free
air
circulation
and
heat
dissipation.
4.
When
changing
fuses,
be
sure
to
replace
the
old
fuse
with
one
of
the
same
amperage
(3A).
Use
of
improper
fuses
can
lead
to
serious
damage
to
compo-
nents.

Processing
makes
it
possible
to
create
8
different
listening
environ-
ments
in
your
car.
BBE™*
The
BBE™
processor,
incorporated
into
the
3342,
compensates
for
the
inherent
loss
of
the
natural
balance
of
harmonic
time
alignment
found
in
most
speaker
systems.
SUBWOOFER
OUTPUT
The
3342's
subwoofer
output
is
activated
when
the
internal
dividing
network
is
turned
on.
The
subwoofer's
output
is
low-pass,
and
crossed
over
at
80Hz.
The
lowpass
outputs
have
a
slope
of
18
dB
per
octave.
SUBWOOFER
LEVEL
CONTROL
Use
this
control
to
conveniently
adjust
the
subwoofer
output
to
compensate
for
the
varied
sub-bass
content
of
different
tyoes
of
source
material.
Different
ambient
conditions
(e.g.
driving
versus
parked)
can
also
be
compensated.
SUBWOOFER
PHASE
SWITCH
Reverses
the
phase
of
the
subwoofer
output
signal.
This
feature,
when
offered
with
an
18
dB
per
octave
crossover,
can
prevent
suck-out
at
the
crossover
point,
caused
by
the
phase
changes
inherent
in
a
dividing
network.
Bottom
line
is
better
bass
in
certain
applications.

EQUALIZER/DSP
SURROUND
PRESETS
There
are
8
factory
programmed
EQ
and
DSP
settings.
USER
PROGRAMMABLE
PRESETS
The
3342
has
8
preset
memory
locations
to
store
equalizer
settings
for
future
use.
The
user
presets
can
be
used
in
combination
with
the
Factory
Presets
for
quicker
programming.
MEMORY
SCAN
Cycles
through
the
preset
equalization
curves
and
DSP
surround
modes
until
it
is
manually
stopped.
DC-DC

POWER
SUPPLY
The
3342
incorporates
a
bipolar
power
supply
to
reproduce
the
wide
dynamic
range
necessary
for
outstanding
transient
response.

Adjusting
the
Input
Level
Before
using
the
3342,
adjust
the
input
level
on
the
head
unit
to
optimum
level.
NOTE:
If
the
following
steps
are
not
performed,
reaching
maximum
performance
and
signal-to-noise
ratio
is
limited.
1.
To
display
the
Input
Level
on
the
head
unit,
press
the
DISP
button

eight
times,
and
select
the
"DISP
8".

first
operate
the
head
unit
with
a
music
source,
and
adjust
the
volume
control

"OVER"
range
Indicator
The
"OVER"
(overrange)
indicator
with
flash
in
the
display
whenever
the
input
level
is
excessive.
To
minimize
distortion
and
for
the
best
possible
sound,
the
input
level
should
be
adjusted
so
that
the
"OVER"
indicator
no
longer
flashes.
This
is
done
by
reducing
the
volume
level
of
the
head
unit.
NOTE:
lf
the
display
"OVER"
should
come
on
when
using
a
different
source,
repeat
the
above
procedure
for
the
new
source.
In
case
that
the
level
may
not
become
proper
for
some
sources,
adjust
the
volume
on
the
head
unit
for
maximum.

Manufacturer's

Presets
Using
DSP,
various
listening
environments
can
be
duplicated
mathematically.
Places
such
as
a
stadium
or
large
concert
hall
are
programmed
to
change
your
car's
acoustics
to
that
of
each
listening
environment.
For
your
convenience,
we
have
provided

surround

which
can
be
used
for
a
variety

The
BBE
Processor
built
into
this
unit
is
designed
to
return
the
natural
balance
of
harmonic
time
alignment,
which
disappears
when
the
sound
becomes
amplified
and
reproduced
by
loudspeakers.
The
result
of
this
processing
is
crisp,
clean
sound
with
tighter
transients
and
sharper
imaging.

BBE

to
activate
the
processor.

BBE
indicator

either

2
or
3
depending
upon
its
last
setting.
Each
time
the
button
is
pressed,
the
next
BBE
setting
will
illuminate
(see

effect

proportionately
reduced
for "2"
