Leveling Refrigerator
Someinstallation may requiredoorreversal toachievefull
doorswing. If soproceed to DoorReversal section before
levelingyourrefrigerator.
Ifyour refrigerator requiresicemaker watersupply
connection, proceed to ConnectIce Maker Water Supply
sectionbeforelevelingrefrigerator.
1. Plugin powercord.
2. Moverefrigeratorintofinal location.
3. Levelrefrigeratorusing a levelplaced on topofthe
refrigerator.
• Removetoegrille.Removebottomhinge cover.
• Turn3/8"roller adjustmentscrew toraise orlower
rearofrefrigerator.

• Turn stabilizing legs clockwise to raise or
counterclockwisetolower front ofrefrigerator.
Stabilizing legs must be firmly against floor. Front of
refrigeratormust be1/4"(6 mm)higher thanthe
backofyour refrigerator.
Caution
To avoid personalinjury or propertydamage caused by
refrigeratortipping, stabilizinglegs mustbe firmly
againstfloor.

Performsteps 2–5 of DoorReversal sectionto remove
doors.Perform steps 2–5in reverse orderto replace
doors.
Door Reversal
Someinstallations may requiredoorreversal toachieve
fulldoorswing. Toreverse door swingdirectionperform
thefollowing steps.

1. Removeandreverserefrigeratorandfreezerhandles.
IMPORTANT: Topreventscratchingofrefrigerator
surfaces,blade of screwdriverand puttyknife called forin
steps below must be covered with masking tape.

• Pry up end caps using a putty knife with the blade
coveredin maskingtape. Removeend capsfrom
refrigeratordoor. Removehandlefromdoorby removing
2 mounting screws at each end of handle.
• Nameplatelogo willautomatically reverse.

• Pry up back edge of handle cap using a putty knife
withthe bladecovered in masking tape. Remove handle
capfromhandle. Remove handlefrom door byremoving
mounting screw at each side of handle.
• Pry 2 button plugs from hinge side of door using a
putty knife with the blade covered in masking tape.
Save button plugs as they will be reused later.

2. Removetophingecover.Tophingecoversnapsoff.
Removetop hingeand hinge shim using hex nut
driver.
3. Removerefrigeratordoor by lifting offofcenter hinge
pin.

An internal support rod may slide out of hinge socket.
Replaceinternal support rodin hinge holeof hinge
sideoffreezer door.
6. Removecenter hinge bracketand hinge shimusing
Phillipsscrewdriver.
7. Removetoegrilleby pulling forward.Removebottom
hingedoor closure and pin byremoving screwwith a
Phillipsscrewdriver.

10. Removefreezer door internalsupportrodlocated
underneathfreezerhandle. Reinstall internal support
rodin hingehole onopposite sideof door.

11. Rehangfreezer door bysettingleft freezer doorhinge
hole on bottom left hinge pin. Install center hinge pin
anddoor closure.
12. Install center hinge pin in center hinge bracket. Place
centerhinge doorclosure on center hinge pin. Install
tophinge bracketon top left side of refrigerator
cabinet by installing rear screws loosely with a 5/16"
hexnutdriver.Set refrigerator dooroncenter hinge
doorclosure. Place tophinge pinin refrigerator door
hingehole. Installremaining screw and tighten all
screws.
• Use a penny to space door 3/4" (18 mm) from
cabinet. Use plastic shims behind center hinge to
providemorespaceifrequired.
• Handleside ofdoor should be approximately 1/8"(3
mm)higher than hingeside ofdoor.

13. Replacefreezerdoorhandle.
• Mounthandle toopposite side of door using original
freezerhandlescrews.

• Anglefrontedgeof handle capdownwardtoward
back lip of freezer handle. Verify bottom tab on
freezercap slides underrear lip offreezer handle.
Snap rear edge of handle cap in place. Place 2
button plugs in empty mounting holes on opposite
sideoffreezer door.
14. Replacerefrigeratordoorhandle.
• Pry 4 button plugs from hinge side of door with
puttyknife, bladecovered with masking tape.
Mounthandle onopposite side of door using
mountingscrewsremoved in previousstep.
• Snap end caps into place. Replace 4 button plugs
in empty mounting holes.

Important
Permanent, double–sided tape is used to attach trim
pieces.Before removing paperbacking, check placement
of trim pieces on door. Back edge of trim should always fit
tightagainst back ofrefrigerator orfreezer door.Trim
piecesmay bedamaged if adjustment or removal is
attemptedafter installation.

Connect ice maker water supply line
WARNING
To avoid electrical shockwhich cancause severe
personalinjury ordeath, disconnect power to
refrigeratorbeforeconnecting water supply. After
connectingwater supply, connect power.
CAUTION
Observethefollowingtoavoid property damage:
• Makesure waterpressure towater valveis between
20and 100 pounds per square inch.
• Tightenadapter fitting and nuts with pliers and
wrenches.Do not overtighten.
• Check for water leaks and correct if necessary before
returningrefrigerator to normal location. After24
hours check again for leaks.
Important
• Before connecting water supply, contact a plumber to
connectcopper tubing to household plumbing in
compliance with local codes and ordinances.
• Amanadoes not recommend using a self-piercing, or
3/16"saddle valves! Both reduce waterflow,become
plugged with sediment over time and may cause leaks
ifrepair isattempted. The correct type of shut-off valve
requires a 1/4" hole to be drilled in the water supply pipe
priorto valve attachment. Amana is not responsible for
propertydamage causedby improperwater
connection.
Materials Required
1/4"O.D. (6 mm) flexible copper tubing isrequired. Length
ofcopper tubingmust reach from water supply connection
towater valve inletport on backof refrigerator, plus
additional 8 ft. (2 m) of tubing for a service loop. A service
loopwill allow refrigerator to bepulled awayfrom the wall
withoutdisconnecting tubing.
Procedure
1. Removeplasticcap from watervalve inlet port.

2. Place brass nut and brass sleeve on copper tubing.
(Brassnut and sleeveare foundin your literature
packet.)Insert copper tubinginto water valveinlet
port. Connect brass nut on copper tubing to water
valveinlet port. Make sure copper tubing is secure by
pullingon copper tubing.

3. Turnon water supplyto refrigerator andcheck for
leaks. Correct any leaks at connection. Be careful not
toovertightenconnection.
4. Createa service loopusing extremecare to avoid
kinks.Secure copper tubingto refrigeratorcabinet
with a "P" clamp.

Handles are solidly attached to doors.
Handle side of dooris 1/8" (3 mm) higher than hinge side of door. (Door lowers
whenloadedwithfood.)

Controls
Thisrefrigerator operates mostefficientlyin normal
householdtemperatures of 55°to110°F(13°C to43°C).
Fresh Food and Deepfreeze®Controls
FreshFood control is located on upper rear wall of Fresh
Foodsection.
Deepfreeze®controlis locatedon rightfront ceiling of
Deepfreeze®section.
When Deepfreeze®control is set to OFF , neither Fresh
Food nor Deepfreeze®sections will cool. Initially, set both
controls to 4 . Wait 24 hours for Fresh Food and
Deepfreeze®sectionsto reachdesiredtemperatures.
After 24 hours, adjust controls, one number at a time, as
desired. 1 is warmest setting and 7 is coldest.
Setting Controls
Setcontrols preciselyusing ahousehold thermometer
thatincludes temperatures between -5° to50°F
(-21°to10°C).
Putthermometer snugly betweenfrozen packagesin
Deepfreeze®section.Wait 5-8 hours.If Deepfreeze®
temperature is not 0° to 2°F (-17° to -16°C), adjust
control, one number at a time. Check again after 5–8
hours.
Put thermometer in a glass of water in middle of Fresh
Foodsection. Wait5–8 hours.If FreshFood temperature
is not 38° to 40°F (3° to 4°C), adjust control, one number
at a time. Check again after 5–8 hours.
Fresh Food Features
Caution
To avoid propertydamage, confirmshelf is secure
beforeplacing items on shelf.
Spillsaver™Shelves
Spillsaver™shelvesadjustto meet individualstorage
needs and hold simple spills for easier cleaning.
Caution
To avoidpersonalinjury or propertydamage,handle
temperedglass shelves carefully. Shelves maybreak
suddenly if nicked, scratched, or exposed to sudden
temperaturechange.
• Remove shelvesbylifting front,releasing hooks from
metal track then pulling out.
• Replace shelves by inserting hooks into metal track and
loweringfront.
EasyGlide™shelves pull forward for easy access of items
in back.
Deli Port™
DeliPort™provides spacesavingstorage underneath
Spillsaver™ shelf and pulls forwardfor easyaccess.
• Remove shelf by pulling forward until shelf stops. Push
tabs on sides of shelf in and pull shelf forward.
• Replace shelf by inserting shelf into track and sliding
back.

Drawers
Humidity Controlled Crisper Drawer
Theright drawer ishumidity controlled.This drawer keeps
producefresh longer.Wrapproduce tightly. Do notwash
producebefore placing indrawer.Excess moisture could
causeproduce tospoil prematurely. Do not line drawer
with paper towels. Paper towels will retain moisture.
Humidity control is located below front shelf trim. Control
adjusts humidity in drawer. Slide control to right for
produce with leaves such as lettuce, spinach or cabbage.
Slide control to left for produce with skins such as
cauliflower,corn or tomatoes.
Temperature Controlled Drawer
Theleftdrawer is temperaturecontrolled.This drawer
keepsfood fresh longer and upto 5°F(3°C) colder than
FreshFood temperature. Use this drawerfor delistorage
oradditionalproduce storage.
Temperature control is locatedbelow frontshelf trim.
Controladjusts amount ofair circulating arounddrawer.
Slidecontrol left fornormal Fresh Foodtemperature and
right for colder temperature. Ice crystals may form on
draweror foodon coldestsetting. Coldair candecrease
FreshFood temperature.Fresh Food control may need to
beadjusted.
Removeshelfand drawers bycompletingthe following
steps.
1. Openleft* drawer.*For doors hingedon left, open
rightdrawer.
Caution
To avoidpersonalinjury or propertydamage,handle
temperedglass shelvescarefully. Shelvesmay break
suddenly if nicked, scratched, or exposed to sudden
temperaturechange.
2. Removeshelfby gently pushingupfrom underneath.
Tilt one end up then pull out.
3. Removeleft*drawer by lifting frontwhilesupporting
underneaththen pulling out.*For doorshinged on left,
removerightdrawer.
4. Remove support post at recess in bottom center of
Fresh Food section by lifting.
5. Removeother crisper by sliding to opposite wall. Lift
frontwhile supporting underneaththenpull out.
6. Replacedrawers and shelfbyreversing steps1–5.
Crisper Tote™
CrisperTote™provides easyaccess and protection for
small produce such as cherry tomatoes, lemons,
mushrooms, etc. in the humidity controlled crisper drawer.
Covered Storage Bucket
Storage bucket has a lid and removable egg tray. When
tray is removed, bucket will accept items such as a
standard egg carton, ice, etc.
Dairy Centers
Dairycenters provide convenientstoragefor itemssuch
as butter, cheese, etc.
• Removedairy centers by lifting door, pushing tabs
towardcenter and pulling out.
• Replace dairy centers by sliding in until tabs lock into
placeandlowering door.
