OWNER’S MANUAL
Thank you for purchasing an Ameri-Shred Shredder. This model is made of the nest materials available and is
manufactured in the Unites States by skilled crasmen. The shredder has been designed with the operator in
mind for both ease of operaon and maintenance. Ameri-Shred requests that each operator read and familiarize
themselves with this manual before operang the machine.
The AMS-50, AMS-75, AMS-100 and AMS-150 Heavy Duty Oce Paper Shredders are designed by Ameri-Shred
Engineers to shred paper and paper products into strips or parcles to ensure that the informaon they contain is
rendered useless. Ameri-Shred believes in using the highest quality components in each of our industrial
shredders.
Included in this manual are safety ps, operang instrucons, preventave maintenance and lubricaon
schedules, and trouble shoong informaon. For informaon or quesons that may not be found in this manual
please contact our service department at 888-270-6879.

Your new Ameri-Shred shredder has been secured to a pallet for shipping. Please inspect equipment immediately
for shipping damage.
Using a pallet jack or fork truck with a minimum
capacity of 500 pounds, remove the machine
from the carrier and transport to operaon
site. Remove pallet and discard responsibly.
Remove top cover and remove bolts marked
“A” (shown in Figure 1) to remove pallet.
WARNING Top Cover must be reinstalled before
running.
Remove shredder stand from pallet.
Open plasc bag and place through the bag
holder allowing 4 to 5 inches to drape over rim.
Remove shredder from pallet.
Posion your shredder on the stand. Place
shredder feet into holes (4) in the shredder
table so that the shreds will drop freely into the plasc bag. See Figure 2 for reference.
Remember to always pull the shredder stand, rather than push, when moving your paper shredder.

All electrical installaon and service must be accomplished by a qualied electrician. Follow all naonal and local
electrical codes and ordinances.
“WARNING”
LOCK POWER IN OFF POSITION
All internal wiring has been factory installed and tested prior to shipping. Electrical installaon consists of
providing adequate machine power only.
Check building service to ensure correct voltage is available and those current requirements can be met
(according to nameplate (serial number), see below).
Install receptacle (provided) to properly protect building circuit. Select appropriate wire size and current
protecon to accommodate current requirements as shown on nameplate. Plug in power cable.
Clear all personnel from machine area. Ensure machine is clean and no tools, rags, or debris have been le
on conveyor belt or near cuers or drive mechanism.
Turn building service drop power on. Check voltage at installed receptacle.
Ensure area is clear. Push switch to FORWARD posion. Jog reverse. Check for proper motor rotaon. If
rotaon is wrong, unplug power cable. Check that power is o with voltage meter at panel. Remove any
two power wires from the motor starter, reverse and reconnect.
Clear area, turn on power and recheck rotaon.
Electrical installaon is complete.
Replace all guards.

Read and understand instrucon manual and be aware of all warning sckers.
Make sure that ALL access panels are in place at all mes, EXCEPT when the power is locked o for
maintenance work or cleaning.
ALWAYS know, or have quick access to, emergency phone numbers.
ALWAYS “lock out” power at the disconnect when shredder is not in use, when servicing shredder, or when
performing roune shredder maintenance including cleaning.
NEVER operate this or any other machine while under the inuence of drugs, alcohol, or medicaons.
NEVER wear loose ng clothing, es, or jewelry while in the vicinity of this shredder.
NEVER allow long hair to be worn in the vicinity of the machine without use of a protecve hair net.
NEVER place any part of your body in or on any part of this machine while in operaon.
NEVER allow tools, rags, lunch pails, or debris to be placed on the input conveyor or on top of the machine.
NEVER change machine direcon without rst allowing machine to come to a complete stop.
NEVER remove guards, perform maintenance, or clear jam-up debris without rst locking out power
disconnect.
NEVER allow horseplay around machine.
NEVER remove paper from cuer heads while power is on.
NEVER aempt to remove paper from input chute aer paper has begun to move toward cuer head.
NEVER hold forward buon in the depressed posion.
NEVER hold the forward buon in the depressed posion, as damage to the machine and the electrical
system could occur.

PRESTART UP PROCEDURE
Familiarize yourself with all controls and buon locaons.
Ensure the area is clean.
Check input area for debris, discarded tools, etc.
START UP PROCEDURE
START UP
Plug power cable into installed receptacle. Push switch on.
To start shredding, push switch to FORWARD posion.
To stop shredder, push switch to STOP/REVERSE posion.
To reverse shredder, push switch to STOP/REVERSE posion.
This shredder is equipped with posive overload protecon. If you exceed the shred capacity of this machine
it will stop and then go into auto reverse then shut o.
Push switch to FORWARD posion to begin shredding. Start by shredding several sheets of paper to get the feel
of the machine. Aer familiarizing yourself with the shredder, you will be able to judge the amount of material to
feed into the machine for ecient shredding.
This machine has been engineered to allow paper to be fed with paper clips, staples, fasteners, credit cards,
aluminum oset plates and similar materials without doing harm to the machine.

Aer every 5 to 6 bags of shredded material unplug the shredder - pull any excess material from the cung
head and spray the cuers with LPS 1.
Once a month unplug the shredder. The cung head should be cleaned of all material. Aerwards, the enre
cung head should be sprayed with LPS 1.
Once every size months
Unplug the shredder
Remove the cover screws (4)
Remove the cover
Clean all material form the machine and the cung head
Spray the enre cung head with LPS 1.
Lubricate the chain and spur gears with gear lube
MAINTENANCE
“WARNING”
LOCK OUT POWER before performing any cleaning, oiling, maintenance, or trouble shoong.
TROUBLE SHOOTING
Machine will not run in forward or
reverse.
1. Check that machine is properly plugged in
receptacle.
2. Check for power at wall receptacle.
3. If no power, check your main panel board for
tripped circuit breaker or blown fuses.
Shredding capacity is low. Cuer head needs to be cleaned and lubricated
with LPS 1.
