standard 3.5mm stereo patch cord between your device’s headphone jack and the AUX port. Make sure the Bluetooth
switch on the Ammo Can X is OFF, and let her rip! Whichever connection method you choose, your music is going to come
in loud and clear.
Battery & Recharging
The SLA battery in the Ammo Can X is a beast and can last for 24+ hours on a single charge. Voltage is displayed through
the silver momentary push button to display its voltage. Voltage ranges are etched into the control panel in the “SLA BATT
OPS LIMITS” box. In general, the battery voltage will drop by 0.1 every 1 - 2 hours, depending on the volume level of the
speaker and whether or not the USB charger is being used.
To keep the battery healthy, your Ammo Can X has a low voltage disconnect (LVD) circuit
that uses a microcontroller to monitor the battery level and warn you when the battery
voltage is approaching its lower limit (11.5V). Below 11.5v, the LVD cuts power to the
system to protect the SLA battery. When this happens, turn the Master switch OFF and
recharge the speaker. Once the lower limit has been reached, the system must be
recharged to above 12v to reset the LVD circuitry. The box will not charge unless the Master
switch if OFF. Hence the “Master Switch – OFF/Charge Battery” instruction on the control
panel.
The included charger is “smart” and will automatically stop charging when the battery is fully topped off. When this
happens, the LED on the charger will change from red to green. Recharging takes about 2 –3 hours. SLA batteries love to
exist in a fully charged state, so we recommend keeping the charger connected when not in use, both to extend its life
and to keep the Ammo Can X ready for action!
USB Charging Ports
The Ammo Can X has 2 USB ports that can be used to charge any device that can be charged using 5v USB power, including
the device you may be streaming music from. Small devices like smartphones or MP3 players can be charged using either
port, but we recommend using the 2.1A port if you are connecting a larger device such as an iPad or tablet. To supply
power to the USB ports, simply turn red Master switch ON. Please note that charging a device via the USB ports will draw
current from the battery and play time will decrease proportionately. (Unfortunately this is a law of physics –as much as
we’d like it to be so, the AmmoCan X is not a perpetual motion machine.)
Fuse
The Ammo Can X uses a 5 amp, 5x20mm fuse to protect the device from short circuits or over current. In case of a power
surge or a short, the fuse will melt and break the electrical connection to protect the internal components of the device.
While it is unlikely to happen once it’s been tested in the Lab, shorts are always a possibility and if your speaker suddenly
refuses to turn on, a blown fuse is likely the culprit. To change the fuse, unscrew the cap on the fuse holder by turning it
counterclockwise, lift it up and remove the fuse. Gently pull the old fuse out of the cap and replace it with the new one,
then screw the cap back in until it is finger tight. If the new fuse blows as soon as you turn the speaker back on, a problem
exists and you should contact us. Note that there is no polarity to a fuse - it can be inserted in either direction.
Easy Transport & Portability
The AmmoCan X can be played with the lid both open and closed. The
antenna folds parallel to the panel, and we recommend it always be
attached when Bluetooth is in use. It extends the range to up to 150’ with
the lid open, and up to 50’ with the lid closed – an awesome range for a
Bluetooth device of this size. We’ve found that bass response is best
with the lid closed, which also makes it easier to transport when you’re
questions or concerns. We will try our best to respond within 24 hours.
