AMX NXT-BP User manual

Quick Start Guide
NXT-BP and NXT-CHG Modero Power Pack and Power Station
For more detailed installation and operating instructions, refer to the touch
panel’s instruction manual, available on-line at www.amx.com.
Overview of the NXT-BP and NXT-CHG
The NXT-BP is a rechargeable Lithium-Ion "smart" battery used with the
Modero NXA-BASE/B Battery Base. This battery provides the user with an
on-board battery life indicator (FIG. 3).
The NXT-CHG Modero Power Station is a two bay, stand-alone battery
charger that is compliant with the Smart Battery System. This tabletop unit
can be used to recharge up to two NXT-BP batteries. The batteries are
charged in the order they are inserted into the NXT-CHG.
The NXT-CHG Slot 1 has the feature of being able to completely discharge
and recharge (Recalibrate) a battery. Refer to FIG. 2 for more information.
Specifications
Powering the NXT-CHG
The NXT-CHG uses an included power supply to provide power for charging
the batteries.
1. Connect the terminal end of the included power supply to the rear of
the NXT-CHG Charger.
2. Provide power to the unit by connecting the other end (plug) into a
power socket that meets the requirements outlined in the
Specifications section for the NXT-CHG.
Reading NXT-CHG LED Indicator
FIG. 2 shows the front connectors on the NXT-CHG Modero Power Station.
There is one LED indicator in front of each bay (FIG. 2) that conveys the
status of that bay as follows:
• Off: No battery detected
• Green Flashing: Fast charging
• Green Solid: Fully charged
• Yellow Flashing: Recalibration in process
• Yellow/Green: Recalibration complete
• Yellow Solid: Standby (waiting for other battery to charge)
• Red Flash: Error (problem with either the battery connection to the
internal slot or the battery itself)
Checking the NXT-BP Charge
1. Press the Battery Life Indicator button (FIG. 3) once to illuminate the
Battery Life LEDs and display the percent charge remaining on the
battery.
2. Repeat these steps for the remaining NXT-BP battery.
3. Charge the batteries by inserting them within the battery charger.
Refer to the following section for more detailed information on this
process.
AT T E N T I O N !
If the 25% LED indicator is blinking, this indicates there is less than 5% of a
charge remaining on the battery.

Charging an NXT-BP using the NXT-CHG
1. Provide power to the charger.
2. Align the Battery connector with the corresponding charge slot within
each of the two NXT-CHG slots (FIG. 4).

information.
Using the NXT-CHG Recalibration Pushbutton
The recalibration process increases the accuracy of the battery charge
level.
A microprocessor controls all functions of the charger so that sequencing
and adjustment of charge parameters occur automatically without user
intervention.
1. Place the battery (selected for recalibration) securely into Slot 1
(left slot) until there is activity from the corresponding LED.
2. Push the button located between the two bays to initiate recalibration
in the left bay only.
