Zitzi Starfish is a height-adjustable toilet and shower chair with wheels, intended
to enable personal hygiene for people with diculty using a standard toilet or
shower. The chair has several setting possibilities and can be equipped with various
accessories to achieve a specific sitting position.
Zitzi Starfish Pro is a reusable product.
Introduction
Inteded purpose
General
In order for you to make full use of the aid in a safe way, it is important that you
read this user manual properly. This concerns the caregivers and family who are
nursing the user. The user is the person sitting in the device and the caregiver is the
person operating the device.
Save the user guide/manual for future reference. New editions are available for
download from our website www.anatomicsitt.com. Information about the latest
revision can be found on the front page along with the date.
Correspondence - marking
The product label and its packaging contains the reference number (REF) and serial
number (SN - for main products) or batch number (LOT - for accessories). These
numbers shall be provided in correspondence with Anatomic Sitt. You find the serial
number on the front of the frame.
CE-marking - classification
he device with its accessories is a CE-marked medical device, Class I according to
the classification rules of Annex VIII (EU) 2017/745.

Education and qualifications
• Mounting, service and reconditioning must always be done by qualified
personnel, (technicians at an aidcenter or equivalent).
• Decisions on adaptation/special adaptation must be made by qualified medical
personnel and performed by qualified professional personnel (technicians at an
aidcenter or equivalent).
• Settings, adjustments and testing of the aid must always be carried out by
qualified medical personnel (specialist personnel at an aidcenter or equivalent).
• The aids prescriber or person with equivalent competence and knowledge of
the user and the aid must always do a risk assessment before use.

Warnings and precautions
Settings may only be done by qualified professionals. It is only permitted to
make settings in the manner described in this user manual.
Check the function of the product before handing it over to the user.
Adjustments may only be made in the way described in this instructions for use.
After all mounting and adjustment or service work is done, check and tighten
all fastening screws and nuts.
Prescriber or person with equivalent competence and knowledge of the user
to balance in the selected seat to ensure that any tipping risk is excluded.
The person who are prescribing the aid is responsible for instructing the user
and/or other persons in its immediate environment how to use the product
safely. Always check the function of the product before use.

Never use the footplate when getting in and out of the aid.
The brakes must always be locked when getting in and out.
Consider the risk of pinching when lowering/raising the seat or changing the
tilt. Have no hands under the seat during adjustments.
Be careful and be aware of the increased risk of tipping when using the chas-
sison sloping surfaces. The chassis should only be parked on horizontal and
level surfaces.
Always lift in the chassis - never in the seat.
Never do service while using the product.
Note that if the user grabs objects outside the aid or leans too far out of the
aid, a center of gravity shift can occur, which can lead to an increased risk of
tipping.
Never overload the device, see section Restrictions for the current maximum
load.
The castors can collide with the footplate in some cases. Note that the steering
ability therefor can be aected and settings may need to be changed.
Never leave the user unattended when using the aid.
Always check after use to detect redness or pressure marks on the patient.
Never lift the seating system with the user in the seat.

Control before use
Inspection and control must be performed before each use according to below:
• Check the product and its accessories for loose parts, wear and injuries. In
particular, check screws and nuts as well as knobs.
• Check that the seat is securely attached to the chassis.
• Check the stability of the product.
• Check the function of any anti-tip devices.
• Check the function of the brakes.
• Check the condition of the wheels and that they are fastened.
• Check the product’s moving functions, such as back angle, tilt, height adjustment,
etc. regarding mobility and locking.
• Check the condition and adjustment of wires for tilt and back angle.
• Check belts and harnesses for wear, function and attachment.
If defects are noticed, do not use the product. Contact your distributor of the aid
for action.

Restrictions
Max load
Max load weight is: 150 kg.
Life time
The expected life of the product is 5 years in normal use in accordance with the
intended purpose of the product, provided that the instructions in these operating
instructions are followed. The actual service life can, however, vary depending on
how frequently and intensively the product is used, but is a maximum of 10 years.
Gas piston
Gas piston should be used regularly to maintain its function. If the product
is not used, the gas piston should be activated at least once every 6 months.
Further, they should be stored so that the piston rod is placed facing downwards.
Otherwise, the gas spring seal might break and the gas piston fail.

Remaining risks
Be aware that the product and its accessories are set correctly so that the user
does not suer any discomfort or injury during use.
If this is the case, adjustments must be made or suitable accessories fitted.
Approved combinations
In order for the product to retain its CE marking, the aid may only be provided with
accessories and spare parts supplied by Anatomic Sitt AB. See the product’s order
form for possible accessories and exploded view of spare parts.
Divergency/Incidents
If the product is unusable product, contact your aids center or dealer/manufacturer.
If a serious incident occurs, it should be reported to Anatomic Sitt AB and to the
country’s competent authority.

Recommendations
Every time the product is changed in some way, an assessment has to be made to
determine if it is an adaptation or a customization.
An adaptation is any change made in comprehension of the CE mark. All other
changes are customizations. Adaptations must only be made by a person deemed
to be qualified for the task and should always be made in a professional manner.
Allowed adaptations within the framework of CE marking
The footrest profile may be shortened to fit the user better.
The length of the armrest profile may be shortened to better fit the user.
The length of the backrest profile may be shortened. The profile must never be
shorter than all brackets for the back plate can be mounted on.
The urine protection can be cut to the desired length.
Risk analysis
Note that a risk assessment always should be done for an adaptation as well as for
a customization of a medical aid. The product must never become dangerous to
use after adaptation.
Marking
The product should be notified that it is adapted to a specific user so that it can not
be mistaken for a standard product.

Mounting and adjustment instructions
Mounting must always be done by qualified personnel, (technicians at an aidcenter
or equivalent). Instruct the user and/or other people close to the user about the
product’s functions so that the aid can be used safely.

Manual chassis
The seat unit can be adjusted to the desired height before the patient is in the seat.
Release the lever (A) on both sides (position (B) is not fully tightened, but helps
to control the cradle in the tracks). Lift the seat out of the tracks and slide the seat
to the desired height. Be sure to push down the seat firmly in the slots. Finish by
tightening the lever (A) firmly.

Height adjustable chassis - gas piston
The seatpart is height adjustable to reach any desired height. You adjust the height
by stepping on the pump handle. Make shore that you step on the pump handle
with smooth movements so that the adjustment is comfortable for the user. To
lower the chassi place the foot underneath the pump handle and push it up.

Height adjustable chassis - electric
The seat height can be adjusted with an electric hand control (D):
• Up arrow raises the seat plate
• Down arrow lowers the seat plate

Charging the battery
Attache the charging cable (K) between the connection cable (J2) and a wall
socket (220V). The first time you charge the battery do it about 24 hours. To avoid
battery failure, don’t let the battery run out of power completely.
Connections
Connect hand control (D1) to control box (G). Connect
battery cable (H1) to control box and the battery (H2).
Actuator cable (L1-L2) is used between the control box
and the actuator (F).
The connection cable (J1) is plugged in the control box.
Use cable ties to attache the cable to the chassis frame
in a way that the contact (J2) is faced down to avoid
water problem.

The battery for Starfish Pro - electric is always delivered fully charged.
Recommendations
• Do not fully discharge the battery
• Do not exceed the storage temperature as it will shorten the battery life and
performance.
• Do not exceed the duty cycle (see product label) as it will shorten the battery life,
reduce performance and eventually activate excess temperature protection.
• If the battery is completely discharged, then recharge the battery before storage.

Buzzer functionality
The buzzer will make a warning when a button on the hand control is pressed and
the battery capacity is low.
The buzzer can also be activated by the control box to signal other conditions. This
must be specified in the control box software.
Deep discharge protection
• The battery BA21 has a protection against deep discharge to protect the battery
life. The protection is activated when the battery is discharged.
• Charge the battery to exit the deep discharge mode. Ensure that the battery is
suciently charged before use.
If the battery is completely discharged, the charging will be started at a very small
rate to protect the battery. In this case the yellow LED will be flashing. If the battery
does not stop flashing and start charging normally within 12 hours (LED – solid
yellow), the battery is defect and must be replaced.
Follow the disposal instructions.
Safety feature
The battery contains several mechanisms to protect itself from being damaged due
to excessive use.
In case of overheating, the device will activate a thermal protection. No power
output will be available until the temperature has returned to normal operating
range. Overheating can occur through extensive use, at high temperatures or
through overheating.
Duty cycle guideline: approx. 5% (1 minute continuous use followed by 19 minutes
not in use).

Adjustment of the seatpart
Seat depth, leg length dierent and abduction/adduction of the legs is easy to
adjust. Take away the cover to access the screws.
Adjustment of the seat depth/ abduction
Release the screws (A) then the seat parts can be adjusted by hand.
Adjust the seat part. Lock the screws firmly when you are done with the
adjustment.
