Introduction
Andel Filtersepta 2 performs to the requirements of a Class 1 full retention oil/water
separator and relevant sections of EN858-1:2002 –less than 5ppm hydrocarbons in water
discharged, under test conditions. The Filtersepta 2 is designed to work in conjunction with
a BundGuard unit to remove any small traces of oil, which may be present in the discharge
from the BundGuard (“Yes to water! – No to oil!” pumping system, less than 5ppm under
test conditions).
The system is fitted with 2 sensors one for excess oil detection and one for high level
detection, in the event of either sensor been active the BundGuard unit will stop pumping
automatically, the system will also stop if the lid to the unit is opened.
If the attached BundGuard unit stops pumping for a period, due to activation on the
FilterSepta sensors the level in the pump’s sump will build up and a high-level alarm will be
generated by the BundGuard control panel.

Installation
The Filtersepta should be installed within the bunded area were ever possible and
positioned so that the outlet is above the bund wall height, for connection to the discharge.
If this is not practical, then the Filtersepta can be positioned outside the bund.
The FilterSepta is fitted with Lifting handles on the sides of the unit for locating the
FilterSepta and a suitable length of appropriate material can be threaded through the
centre of these to make lifting and manoeuvring easier.
Important Safety Notes
The unit should not be move withfull liquid.
If the Filtersepta must be mountedof the ground to allowthe discharge to clear the Bund
wall then it must be support over the entire length and width of the base, the unit is
suppliedon a plastic pallet for this very purpose.
If positioned outside the bund the overflow outlet must be cap off to prevent unwanted
discharge.
The integrated high level and oil level sensors must also be connectedto the BundGuard
unit to prevent pumping, should the unit become blocked or fail to cope with the inlet
flow. This is particularly important when the system is mounted outside the bund.
The connection to the Filtersepta oil level and high-level sensors is via an IP66 Junction box
located externally at the rear of the unit and screw terminals are provided for the
connections. A 2 core 0.75mm CSA cable should be used for these connections. The unit
can be connected to any of the BundGuard systems and connection details for both current
versions available is detailed in the following sections.
To remove junction box lid, quarter turn the screws, that are position at each corner of the
junction box, the arrow on these should be turned from the “1”to the “0”position and
return to the “1”position when refitting the lid. M20x1.5mm gland entry holes are
provided in the sides of the junction box, fitting and tightening the gland removes the
plastic lugs within the gland opening, therefore no drilling of the junction box is required.

Maintenance
Warning the BundGuard system feeding the FilterSepta, automatically starts
power to the unit should be isolated before opening the lid of the FilterSepta.
Wear protective clothingwhen carrying out the procedure belowappropriate to the type
of oil/oils present.
Solvents and degreasers should not be used when carrying out maintenance as this will
affect the separation performance.
FilterSepta 2 units should be visually checked regularly to ensure there is no significant build-up of
contaminants and actioned appropriately. The FilterSepta 2 units should be cleared of contaminants on
regular intervals. This involves removal of any silt and oil build up as well as washing down of the
coalescing filter together with cleaning of the sensor probes. We recommend that they should be
maintained every 6 or 12 months –depending on the specific site.
