Not only are these pens easily lost, but in 2000 the
Secret Service estimated the Counterfeit Security
Pen to have an 83% FAILURE rate. They have proven
to be extremely UNRELIABLE. Many chemicals affect
this pen including: Soap, bleach, battery acid, wax,
grease or even hairspray. It is impossible for this pen
to verify the hardest to counterfeit security features
in currency, such as the fluorescent security threads
and watermarks. The MoneyChecker from Angstrom
Technologies verifes these security features.
The Universal Model 6700 Advantage
Both MoneyChecker models verify security features
in US currency, but the additional UV lamp in the
hood of the 6700 Universal model also verifes
security features in many other items, such as:
•CREDIT CARDS: Hidden ultraviolet security
features only visible under the UV lamp.
•CHECKS: Made of Secure paper; will absorb the
UV light and will not glow, but may have security
markings that can only be seen under UV light.
•TRAVELER’S CHECKS: May appear dull if
genuine, fluorescent signature lines, watermarks.
•INTERNATIONAL CURRENCY: Security
threads, holograms, and watermarks.
•STATE ISSUED DRIVER’S LICENSES:
UV properties built in will vary from state to state.
•RESIDENT ALIEN/GREEN CARDS:
“USA” or an image of the US Flag will fluoresce
throughout the card when placed under the UV light
•PASSPORTS: Various unseen multi-colored UV
fluorescent emblems and images, will vary by
country
•EVENT TICKETS: Various ultraviolet and UV
security features
•OTHER ITEMS: US Govt. checks, Cashier’s
Checks, and many more

Operation Instructions
1. Universal Model 6700 only: Plug the power cord from
the hood into the jack located on the rear of the unit.
2. Plug the power supply adapter into the input jack on
the right side of the unit.
3. Activate the unit by passing an item (currency or other
suitable target) over the sensor located near the front
right corner of the template.
4. Power saving feature: the unit will turn off after
3 to 4 minutes when not in use. It will remain off
until another target is passed over the sensor.
5. Make sure no debris collects in the sensor slot, this
can disable the unit. Debris can be removed with a dry
toothbrush, compressed air, etc. Do not insert sharp or
metallic objects into the sensor.
6. There is no on/off switch, unplug the unit when not in
use for long periods of time.
Verifying Security Features in US Currency:
1. The UV and LED lights are designed to illuminate
the security thread and watermark embedded in US
currency after 1996. Older bills may not contain these
features.
2. Place the bill over the template, portrait side up.
3. The security thread will glow a specifc color depending
upon the denomination of the currency. The template
shows the location and color of the security thread for
each denomination.
4. Note: In 2004, the $50 thread was moved to the left
approx. ½ inch. In 2008, the $5 thread was moved from
the left to the right side of Lincoln’s portrait. See the
“Security Thread Features” section.
5. The LED light on the right side of the unit is used to
verify the presence of the watermark. In most cases,
the watermark should match the portrait on the bill.
Note: the watermark in the $5 bill released in 2008 is
the numeral “5”.
