1.1GENERAL:
ThischapterdescribesfivedifferentDCpermanentmagnetmotorsforADIbioreactors.
Adirectcurrenttachogenerator,present
in
themotor,
is
used
for
feedback
to
themotor
controller;thisfeedbacksignal(speed)
is
alsopresentasananalogoutput(0
-
10V)onthe
controller.
Thestirrermotorcomeswithfourmotorstuds
tofitin
thestirrerassemblyand
a
covered
(flexible)couplingforktoavoidnoiseandvibrationsduringoperation.
Notoolsarerequiredtomountthestirrermotorontopofthestirrerassembly.
Warning:
-Thestirrermotoris
a
machinewithpotentialhazard(moving
parts).
Inordertoavoiddangeroussituations,makesurethatthe
stirrermotor
is
onlyoperatedwhen
itis
properlyseated
in
thestirrerassemblyoftheADIautoclavablebioreactor.

Thestirrermotormust
be
installed
onthe
reactor
by
inserting
the
fourpinsinto
the
coupling
ring
of
thestirrerassemblywhilelining
upthe
spring
pinonthe
stirrershaftwith
the
flexible
fork
onthe
motorshaft.
Warning:
Neverinstall
or
remove
a
runningmotor.
Arunningmotor
(ora
motorthat
has
beenrunning)
may
behot.
Turn
the
speedcontrolknob
onthe
frontpanelfullycounterclockwise(stirrerspeed
= 0 rpm)
andconnect
the
cablebetween
the
controller
andthe
stirrer(maleaudioconnector
tothe
controller,femaleconnector
to
stirrermotor).
Set
the
local/remoteswitch
atthe
frontpanel
of
thecontroller
to
"local"
(up)and
switch
onthe
power.
Adjust
the
stirrerspeedmanually
by
turning
the
speedcontrolknobclockwiseuntil
the
desired
stirringspeed
is
reached
or
connect
the
stirrerspeedcontroller(module)
toa set
point
