Quick Start Guide
Attention: Use only the included cables with yourAegis Max. You might
damage the drive if you use a cable not included with theAegis Max.
In the rare case that theAegis Max
does not power up on a single
USB connection, the included USB
Y-cable may be required (pictured
right). Simply plug the two Y-cable
USB connectors (black and grey
connectors) into the two USB ports
on your notebook, connect the
Aegis Max, and the drive will power.

SyncToy is an easy to use, highly customizable program
that helps simplify the task of the copying, moving, and
synchronization of different directories. Most common operations can be
performed with just a few clicks of the mouse, and additional customization
is available without additional complexity. SyncToy can manage multiple
setsoffoldersatthesametime;itcancombinelesfromtwofoldersin
one case, and mimic renames and deletes in another case. Unlike other
applications,SyncToyactuallykeepstrackofrenamestolesandwill
make sure those changes get carried over to the synchronized folder.

Disconnecting the Aegis Max
Windows®7, XP and Vista
Locate the system tray on your Windows Desktop (system tray is the1. part of the task bar that displays the date and time).
Click on the “Safely Remove Hardware” icon in the system tray. A2. dialog box will appear.
Click on “Safely Remove Hard Disk - Drive (:D)” in the dialog box (your3. drive letter may differ).
Wait for a few seconds until the system prompts “The hard disk storage4. device can now be safely removed from the system.”
Click OK and then unplug the Aegis Max.5.

The drive will need to be dismounted. This can be done by dragging1. the drive to the Trash Can.
Wait for a few seconds. Once the Aegis Max icon has disappeared, you2. can safely remove the drive.
NOTE:Toprotectagainstunexpecteddataloss,Windowschecksthatalllesonthe
disk are closed before allowing the USB device to be removed. If you receive an error
message that says “The device cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again
later.”CloseallWindowsandProgramsthatareusinglesfromthedrive,thenrepeatthe
procedure above.
