OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE USE:
Flush the new STRAW water filter: Use clean tap water – if available – to flush the
new filter! Sip through the straw filter as one normally does until the water comes
out of the mouthpiece. Do not swallow the first filtered water but flush it! You can
also use a garden hose (32 mm) with city water pressure or via a pump (max. 1 bar).
Other method: Flush the nano filter module in the direction of the arrows for 2
minutes with a garden hose.
HOW TO USE:
Remove mouthpiece cover and submerge the inflow opening of the straw in water
to a dept lower than the high-water mark. Once submerged, simply sip through
a standard straw. Suck the excess water from the straw after removal from water.
Place the mouthpiece cover back on the Straw when the system is dry. Replace the
mouthpiece cover once the straw is used by more than one person.
AFTER EACH USE:
Make sure that you clean the filter after every use! Take the straw filter with the
arrows pointing at your direction (normal filter / sip direction) and hold the filter
strongly into your hand; now, flush the remaining water with debris and residues
by ‘throw movements’(Back-Flush) by velocity and the filter module will be cleaned
by reversing the flow! Keep shaking the water out so the straw filter is completely
drained and flushed (5 – 10 times)!
BEFORE STORING AWAY FOR THE NEXT USE:
The straw must be drained/cleaned AFTER EVERY USE and the unit must be
completely dried. Store it in a cool and dry place!
Do not strenuously shake or tap the straw filter unit on a solid object to evacuate
water residue!

SPECIAL MAINTENANCE & DISINFECTION:
Every 6 months or whenever the straw filter is clogged!!!
Prepare a 0,5% sterilizing solution with Hydrogen Peroxide (HP ~ H2O2). Submerge the
filter unit into the water and sip on the filter until the sterilizing solution reaches your
mouth. Spit this first filtered water out and place the filter horizontally for at least one
hour. Than take the straw out of the receptacle and shake out the remaining fluid.
Discard the sterilizing solution from the receptacle and fill it with 500 ml of clean water.
Place the straw in the receptacle so that it is fully submerged for 5 minutes. After 5
minutes take the straw out the receptacle and gently shake water residue off. Now,
the filter is disinfected and ready for re-use.
Do not use
sea or salty water to filter water! Try not to ‘test’ this filter using soft drinks,
coffee, or other liquids besides soft water to filter; this may cause irreversible damage
to this water filter!
It is recommended to replace the filter every 5 years!
