FUNCTION CHECK CARUM BREASTPUMP
The Carum breastpump is maintenance-free. Ardo medical AG recommends that operational and vacuum functions
be checked by trained personnel at least every two years.
Vacuum Control
1 Required Test Equipment
Ardo Manometer (Art. No. 63.00.113)
Ardo Pumpset breast shell size
26 mm (e.g. Clinic Pumpset Art. No.
63.00.42).
2 Procedure
Connect the Pumpset to the Carum
unit and insert the plug of the mano-
meter firmly and securely into the
breast shell.
Switch on the unit by pressing the
On/Off key.
The unit will be in stimulation mode
(orange background).

Press the "Mode" key to switch from
stimulation mode to express mode
(green background) .

In express mode, increase the vacuum
to maximum. Read the vacuum level
value on the manometer.

Possible sources of error:
• The plug is not correctly seated in the funnel of the breast shell.
• The breast shell size does not match the plug i.e. the breast shell is larger than 26 mm.
• The vacuum may be affected by the altitude. The greater the altitude above sea level, the lower the vacuum
builds.
• The manometer is defective or is showing incorrect values.
If these possible errors can be excluded, and the Carum unit is not functioning as specified, please contact Ardo
medical or your supplier.
The maximum vacuum level must
reach 330 mbar (+ /–5 %). The
tolerance limits are displayed on the
manometer.
