Dear customer
We hope that you will be satisfied with your new powerful LED floodlight ASTERION for many
years. The firm Art Lighting Production, s.r.o. puts the customer service on first place. Therefore we
have also intensively focused ourselves on quality and the customer service in recent years. The better
and higher quality products we sell the fewer problems we will have with the service and vice versa.
Therefore, we can also afford to offer 36 months warranty service and loan of alternate lighting unit
free of charge in case of warranty and post-warranty servicing.
The ASTERION luminaire is different from other manufacturers’ LED luminaires especially with its
light output and its different concept of the optical system. In addition, a significant role plays here the
selection of quality materials and components.
Unlike the competitors products our ASTERION luminaire works from very beginning with only
diffused light, which allows to work with great homogenity of light over large areas already from a
small distance. With its light homogeneity, divergence and performance it is the first full replacement
of the floodlight in the world.
We wish you a lot of pleasant experiences with the ASTERION product!

I. Setting the DMX Address
Set the required DMX address with Up and Down Buttons. The new set address does not need
confirmation. With the display flash the device indicates the automatic storing of the new DMX
address.
LINK
Holding the up or down button will accelerate the scrolling through the DMX addresses.
On the right side next to the display the LED with the identification LINK is located. The lighting LED
indicates that the DMX signal is okay. If this LED is not lighting then the DMX signal is missing or is
wrong.
ATTENTION: The exceptions are the border DMX addresses 1and 506. When the 001 is set then
holding the down button is used for entering the color storing menu. The display shows C.01
When the 506 is set then holding the up button is used for entering the expanded opening and
closing menu of the channel No. 6 and 7 (see the Chapter V. and VI.)

II. STROBO –DMX channel No. 6
A. Enabling and disabling the DMX channel No. 6.
-Set the DMX address 506.
-Wait until the address 506 is confirmed by display flash and hold the up button for approx. 3
seconds.
-Display shows 7.c.1 or 7.c.0 (channel status 7)
-By additional pressing of the up button there will appear 6.c.1 or 6.c.0 (0 on the end means
that the channel 6 is disabled, 1 on the end means that the channel is enabled)
-By pressing and holding both buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds the digit 6 will start to
flash.
-By additional pressing of the up button the DMX channel 6 will be enabled (6.c.1) or disabled
(6.c.0)
ATTENTION: The enabling and disabling function of the channel 6 and 7 is
functional only in the presence of the DMX protocol!
B. Function of the DMX channel No. 6.
DMX 6 value
0
The function of the halogen performance of the luminaire is active.
1 - 254
The function of the halogen performance is switched off and the strobo is
active with an adjustable speed in the range of DMX value of 1 - 254
255
The function of the halogen performance is switched off and the dimming
responds erratically to an immediate change of the intensities. The strobo can
be programmed on the control console.
By the luminaires with conventional or halogen bulbs the switching off or switching on is delayed.
This effect is caused by the filament of the bulbs, which need some time to warm up and to cool
down again.
The LEDs do not have this characteristic. They respond immediately to the current value, which is
sent to them. Even if these steps are synchronized in 16 bit DMX the dimming will never be
continuous. Therefore the dimming process is controlled by software. Between the individual steps
the time slips are programmed, which are smoothing the step course of the LED dimming.
However, if you do not want to use the Asterion as the ordinary luminaire but as stroboscopic effect
then it is necessary to switch off this function. The whole process of the switched on smoothened
dimming (halogen performance), stroboscopic effect and switched off smoothened dimming is
controlled just by the DMX channel 6.
If the DMX channel 6 is disabled, then the luminaire behaves as a halogen lamp, i.e. smoothing is
switched on!

III. DMX channel No. 7 - MEMORY
A. Enabling and disabling of the DMX channel No. 7.
-Set the DMX address 506.
-Wait until the address 506 is confirmed by display flash and hold the up button for approx. 3
seconds.
-On the display will appear 7.c.1 or 7.c.0 (status of the channel 7) (0 on the end means that
the channel 7 is disabled, 1 on the end means that the channel is enabled)
-By pressing and holding both buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds the digit 7 will start to
flash.
-By additional pressing of the up button the DMX channel 7 will be enabled (7.c.1) or disabled
(7.c.0)
B. Function of the DMX channel No. 7.
The DMX channel 7 is functioning as so called virtual colour changer.
DMX 7 value
0
The function of the channel 7 is switched off.
1 - 255
In the range of these DMX values 30 fixed memories are available, in which
you can store any colour or any colour shade.
This has been added for reasons, when the user wants to have the exact shade of color placed
directly in the luminaire and does not want to be dependent on the type and capabilities of the
lighting control console.
The use of this function is practical especially when setting the colour temperature by taking photos
or motion-picture operations or when the control is made with a small control console, which does
not have controls for colour mixing.
The term "virtual color changer" perhaps best describes the function of the DMX channel No. 7. In
case of classical color changer we would scroll a mechanical band of 30 gel strings. In our case we will
change over between 30 memories. The advantages again a classic scroller are clear. The user may
anytime change any of the colors or change over the color sequence. Also there is no time delay by
the scrolling of the gel strings!
ATTENTION! When the DMX channel No. 7 is active and its value is higher than 0 then the RGBW
color mixing is disabled. The color in the memory has the priority over the RGBW color mixing! If
you will not use the channel 7 then it is more practical to disable this channel.

C. Storing of the selected colors
-When the DMX address 1 is set then press and hold the down button for approx. 2 seconds
until the display shows the item C.01 . Then you can normally scroll through the items (by
holding or by individual pressing of the buttons).
-The previous article describes how to display the required item. Now we will demonstrate
the practical procedure on how to change the colors (how to enter other values into the
memory). To be able to do this it is necessary to connect the DMX signal to the equipment,
otherwise you can not proceed. The connected DMX signal is indicated by the green LED
indicator.
-Scroll on the display the number of the color (memory number) that we want to modify –
display C.01-C.30
-By pressing and holding both up and down buttons simultaneously for approx. 3 seconds the
“C”of the particular memory number starts to flash, in which we want to store or change the
value.
-Use the control console to set the required color.
-By pressing the up button the set color will be stored in the memory.
-By pressing the down button the storing process will be finished.
D. Recalling memory without DMX signal.
-When the DMX address 1 is set then press and hold the down button for approx. 2 seconds
until the display shows the item C.01. Then you can normally scroll through the items (by
holding or by individual pressing of the buttons).

V. Turnable Asterion frames
The individual floodlight battens can be installed in the turnable frames which will enlarge the light
emitting area. Then you can manipulate with such frame as if it is one luminaire. The frame can be
swiveled both horizontally and vertically. The particular Asterion luminaires can be adjusted
individually in the vertical direction. All positions are lockable.
The frames will be custom-made in various designs for 4, 3 and 2 Asterion floodlight luminaires. We
supply to the frame also a transport case, which will reduce the time for assembly and will facilitate
the handling with the frame.
The transport cases can be supplied also for 2, 3 and 4 pcs of Asterion luminaires without frame!
