CONGRATULATIONS
on choosing the Ascendo’s CCM5-P or CCM6-P
On Wall & On Ceiling Loudspeakers.
These powerful point source coaxial two-way loudspeakers feature soft dome tweeter diaphragm
technology with strong Neodymium magnet material and are capable of outstanding performance.
Please take a few moments to read this manual. The advice it contains will enable you to get the very
best performance out of your Acoustic Energy loudspeakers.
UNPACKING AND
MAINTENANCE
Your speaker should be treated with the same
care you would treat a piece of furniture. Use
only a piece of soft cloth and a small quantity
of warm soapy water to clean the loudspeakers.
Avoid touching the cone of the bass unit or treble
dome since this may leave a nger mark or even
damage the dome and spoil its performance.
After unpacking, we suggest you retain all
packing material for future transports.
RUNNING-IN PERIOD
The performance of the speaker will change
subtly during the listening period.
Please allow your new speakers to play about 50
hours of music at normal listening level before
doing any critical listening.
ROOM POSITIONING
The performance of a loudspeaker system in a
room varies greatly with its placement. Those
speakers are designed for On Wall or On Ceiling
mount to take advantage of the so-called
boundary gain obtained in the bass notes. The
speakers must be installed hanging on the wall
or ceiling. You will experience the most accurate
sound picture if you listen from a position halfway
between the loudspeakers. This holds also
true using the speakers as object-based Dolby
Atmos® Ceiling or Surround speakers. Objects in
the direct sound path can disturb the coherence
of the sound picture. Try out different positions
before deciding on a nal arrangement.
MOUNTING
The CCM5-P and CCM6-P speakers possess three
mounting options. They have “keyholes” on the
back side to allow hanging them on the wall, they
have two “through” mounting holes, to allow
for at On-Wall or On Ceiling mount and they
possess a “VESA” 100 Mounting option to use a
standard VESA mount. Because the speaker is a
vented design, it must be mounted in a way that
allows a free air ow from the port.
FRONT CLOTH PANEL
The CCM5-P and CCM6-P speaker comes with a
magnetic attached front mounted frame, covered
with acoustic transparent cloth. The covers can
be easily removed by pulling them away.
NOTE!
The CCM5-P and CCM6-P should be installed on a
wall or on a ceiling for best performance. The full
sound performance of these speakers is obtained,
when they are wall/ceiling mounted by taking
advantage of the boundary gain giving them
extended low frequency performance.
Please note: As of September 2020, a new in
Wall Mounting kit becomes available as optional
accessory. Please consult with your ASCENDO
dealer.
CONNECTIONS
Make sure to turn off all ampliers before
connecting your new speaker to your system.
Connect the cable to the terminals. Use the
marking of the cable to ensure that the red or ”+”
mark of the amplier is connected to the ”+” side
of the terminal, also marked with red.
We recommend high quality loudspeaker cables.
Ask your dealer or Installer for the best cables
suiting your needs.
POWER HANDLING
ASCENDO recommends using ampliers with a
high dynamic power range. The most important
thing is, that the amplier has sufcient power
reserves for handling peaks and transients
present in the music signal. The power rating
gure of a loudspeaker depends mostly on the
clean power provided by the amplier. A power
rating of e.g. 100W RMS says only that you can
play a continuous tone of 1kHz at this output.
It does not mean that you can turn the volume
all the way up on a 100W amplier and expect
clear sound and healthy speakers.
The greatest danger to a loudspeaker is
distorted or clipped amplier signals. Distorting
ampliers produce overtones in the entire
spectrum, with a high energy that can easily
damage the speaker units. Because a more
powerful amplier can play without producing
distortion on the output, we have the paradox
here, it is a greater risk to damage speakers by
playing loud with a smaller amplier.
CAUTION!
If you hear distortion when you increase the
volume this is normally a sign of overloading
the amplier or the speaker and you should
immediately reduce the output level to not
damage the speakers permanently. Use
of loudness, bass or treble boost controls
increases the risk of overloading the amplier.
We recommend that you use these controls
with great care.
SERVICE
Shall your ASCENDO loudspeaker system require
service, or if you have difculty in achieving the
rightfully expected ne performance of which
your ASCENDO loudspeaker systems are capable
of, consult your dealer that has the knowledge
required, to provide expert advice and assistance.
In case the ASCENDO dealer is unable to assist
you, you are welcome to contact the ASCENDO
