The Askari Alarm I/O is a
multifunctional receiver/transmitter,
stand-alone alarm system and
Alarm panel I/O Interface
Remote Panic
WhentheArmandDisarmbuttonsontheNanoare
pressedsimultaneously,theAlarm I/Owilltriggerthe
Panicoutputfor2seconds,andwillalsodrivetheSiren
output.
NOTE: The Nano will remain silent for this function and
will not emit a beep.
Stand Alone Siren and LED Outputs
AnAskari NanomustbeprogrammedintotheAlarmI/O.
WhentheArmbuttonispressedontheNanothesiren
outputwillbearmedforallactivezonesandtheStatus
Led(ifconnected)willswitchon.
WhentheArmsignalisreceivedbytheAlarm I/O,
itwillconrmreceipt(theNanowillbeeponce)andallthe
activezoneLED’swillautomaticallyresettosolidlights(ie:
thoseactivezonesthatwereashingduetobeingtrig-
geredwillnowstopashingandburnsolid).
Ifanintrudersignalisreceivedthesirenwillrunfor
30secondsandtheStatusLEDwillstarttoash.
Whilethesirenisrunning,pressingtheDisarmbutton
ontheNanowillresetthesiren,butwillnotdisarmthe
systembutwillresetStatusLEDto‘Armed’(on),andthe
Alarm I/Owillconrmreceiptofthesignal(theNanowill
beeptwice)
Whenthesirenisnotrunning,pressingtheDisarmbutton
ontheNanowilldisarmthesystemandturnotheLED,
andtheAlarm I/Owillconrmreceiptofthesignal(the
Nanowillbeeptwice).
Ifthesystemhasbeentriggered,thedisarmsignal
conrmationwillcausetheNanotobeeptwicewithan
additionalhightonetoalerttheownerthatthesystem
hasbeentriggered.
OnreceiptofthedisarmsignalfromtheNano,theAlarm
I/OwillalsosendthesystemzonestatustotheNano.The
NanoLED’swillnowshowallthe
activeandtriggeredzonesontheAlarm I/O.Thiswillalert
theownerofanyintrusion,andidentifywheretheintru-
siontookplace,allowingtheownertomakeaninformed
decisionaboutre-enteringthe
propertyafteranintrusionhasoccurred.

PROGRAMMING
TheAskari Scout DetectorneedstobeprogrammedintoboththeAskari Alarm I/Oandthe
Askari Nanoforsystemsusingbothdevices.Thesefunctionsneedtobeperformedsepa-
ratelyforeachdevice.IftheAskari NanohasalreadybeenprogrammedwithAskari Scout
Detectors,itcanclonetheinformationtotheAlarm I/O.(SeetheAskari Scoutusermanual
forDetectordatacloning)
Thereare3programmingfunctionsfortheAskari Alarm I/O:

C. ProgrammingAskari Nano
Beforeprogramming,removethecoverfromtheAlarmI/Oandconnectto12voltsatthe
indicatedterminal,thepowerindicatorLEDwillswitchon.
A. Programming Askari Scout detectors
1. RemovethebatterycoverfromtheAskari Scoutyouwishtoprogram(orsetthe
Nanointoclonemode)
2. PressandreleasetheProgramswitchontheAlarmI/O–theProgramming/Deleting
LEDwilllightup
3. AllprogrammedzoneLED’swilllightup(nonewilllightupifnothingis
programmedin)
4. WaitfortheProgramLEDtobrieygooandonagain,allprogrammedzoneLED’s
willswitcho–youarenowinprogrammingmode
5. Pressandreleasetherequiredzonebutton–thezoneLEDwilllightup
6. TriggerthetamperswitchontheAskari Scout(ortriggertherequiredzoneonthe
Nano)
7. TheAlarm I/Owillaccepttheprogramming,returntostandbymode,andall
programmedzoneLED’swillbeon.

Intruder detection
Zonescanbeturnedonandowiththezoneswitches.ActivezoneswillhavelitLED’s
WhenthezoneisactivetheLedwillburnsolid,whenithasbeentriggereditwillash
Whenanintrudersignaltriggersthezoneitwilldrivetheoutputsfor2secondsiftheunit
isarmed
Autotest
Thesystemconductsauto-testevery20minutesandwilltriggerafter3consecutivetest
failures.Theauto-testclockwillresetaftereverysuccessfulintrudersignal.Whenauto-test
failuretriggersthezone,theSensorCheckLEDwillswitchon.TodeterminewhichDetector
hasfailedauto-test,andresettheSensorChecklight,turneachzoneoandon,starting
atzone1,untilthefailedzoneturnstheSensorChecklighto.Asoundwillbeheardifa
speakerisconnected.
Device Tamper
TheAlarm I/Ohasitsowntamperswitchandoutput.Theoutputswilllatchopenwhenthe
coverisremoved.
Askari Scout Detector Tamper
WhenthebatterycoverisremovedfromtheAskariScoutDetectoritwilltransmitaTamper
signaltotheAlarm I/O.
OnReceiptofaTampersignaltheTamperlightwillswitchonandtheTamperoutputwill
triggerfor2seconds.
TodeterminewhichDetectorhastriggeredthetampersignal,
andtoresettheTamperlight,turneachzoneoandon,
startingatzone1,untilthetamperedzoneturnsthe
Tamperlighto.(abeepwillbeheardifthespeaker
isconnected).
