1 Introduction
The WMC01 Wall Mount Controller provides control of audio source selection and broadcast level within a VIPEDIA-12
system.
The WMC01 is typically installed in restaurants, meeting rooms and hotel lobbies to allow users to select from a list of
different music channels and to adjust the volume.
Connections to the VIPEDIA-12 can be made over either Ethernet or serial RS485/analogue audio. Power is sourced
from a PoE supply in Ethernet mode or a 24 V DC supply in serial mode.
A standard 3.5 mm socket allows an audio device such as phone or music player to be connected locally. This local
music input can be added to the list of audio sources by configuration.
The WMC01 includes a flush back box for simple installation and is available in either black, white or gold finishes.

This equipment must not be installed in an area that is subject to a corrosive atmosphere.
This product should not be exposed to dripping or splashing nor have objects filled with liquids placed upon it.
Installation
The back box must be securely attached to the wall in accordance with the installation instructions.
Electrical Safety
Ensure power supply cabling is adequately rated.
Always replace blown fuses in the supply to this equipment with the correct type and rating.
EMC
The signal to noise ratio of this product may be reduced:

4 Preparation
1. Read and observe the safety instructions and guidelines in Section “2 Safety and Precautions” (page 3).
Failure to follow these instructions and guidelines may cause personal injury and/or damage to the
product
.
2.
Gather the following documentation and tools:
•The system design documentation of the specific location
•Suitable cable glands/conduit fixings (Ø 27 mm cable entry hole)
•A small flat-blade screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver (M3)
•Suitable fixings (M4 fixing holes) and tools for wall mounting
•Sealant
3. Gather the product (in its original packing).
5 Unpacking and Handling
1. Observe any markings or warnings on the package prior to handling and opening.
2.
Check the product package for signs of damage during transport. Report problems to the carrier or supplier.
3. Unpack the product in a dry area handling the equipment with care.
4.
Check the equipment package contents for completeness. Report any missing items immediately.
WMC01 package contents:
•1 x WMC01
•4 x M3 black Phillips screws (7.5 mm) (inside the back box)
•1 x Installation Guide
5.
It is advisable to retain the original equipment packing (containers and materials) in the event that the product
ever needs returning for service.
6.
If the packing is not to be retained, the packing materials should be either recycled or disposed of according to
local regulations.
7.
Ensure that the name and address of the Authorised Distributor from whom you purchased the product is
recorded on the “Service and Warranty” page of this document for future reference.
8. Repacking instructions are provided in Section “10 Packing for Return” below.
6 Storage and Preservation
This product should be packed for storage in the original packing as described in the Section “10 Packing for Return”
below and stored in the following environmental conditions:
•Away from harsh environmental conditions, such as areas that are subject to corrosive atmosphere, excessive
moisture or may allow water or other liquids to come into contact with the unit or its external connections.
•In a heated and humidity controlled storage area where the temperature and humidity are within the equipment
specification.
7 Packing for Return
If a product is being returned for servicing, try to use the containers and materials of the original packaging. Attach a tag
indicating the type of service required, return address, equipment type and full serial number.
If the original packing can no longer be used, the following general instructions should be used for repacking with
commercially available materials:
•All electronics assemblies must be properly packed in ESD protective packing for transport, to prevent physical and
ESD damage.
•The filler material used for packing must be antistatic or static dissipative, as this may come into contact with
exposed connectors, wiring, or PCB assemblies. The use of non-conductive filler material may cause damage to the
electronic assemblies reducing their operational life, or even destroying them.
•Use a sturdy cardboard box that will support the weight and size of the equipment.
•Attach a tag indicating the type of service required, return address, equipment type and full serial number.
•Completely wrap the equipment in bubble wrap (all sides must be protected) and secure the wrap in place with tape.
•Place the wrapped equipment inside the box surrounded by filler material, ensuring that there is no room for
movement.
•Seal the box securely with packing tape.

9 Commissioning and Troubleshooting
1) Configure the WMC01 in the PAVA System Configuration Tool (PAVA SCT).
For IP connected units, enter the unit’s MAC address in the PAVA SCT so that all required IP settings are
automatically set by the host VIPEDIA-12 during configuration load.
2) Serially connected WMC01 (RS485):
a) Check ROUTER 2 port is connected to the correct port of the host VIPEDIA-12 unit.
b) If the WMC01 displays “HOST COMMS LOST”, connect ROUTER 1 port to the correct port of the host
VIPEDIA-12 unit.
3) IP connected WMC01 (Ethernet):
a) Check the WMC01 unit is in the same network as the host VIPEDIA-12.
b) Avoid direct connection to ETH1/ETH2 ports of a VIPEDIA-12/V2000 unit.
4) Load the configuration into the host VIPEDIA-12 unit.
5) The WMC01 will update and reboot.
6) If serial connection, change connection to ROUTER 2 port (if not already using ROUTER 2 port).
7) The WMC01 will display the source selection menu.
WMC01 stuck in “Please wait”:
1) Check connections as described above.
2) If still no comms, re-load configuration into host VIPEDIA-12 unit.
3) Power cycle the WMC01 unit and clear faults on the VIPEDIA-12 unit.
4) If still no comms, reset the WMC01 configuration and re-commission the unit.
To reset the WMC01 configuration:
a) Set DIP switch 2 up; see “Installation” (page 6)
b) Press the button.
c) Use keys to navigate to the MISC SETTINGS tab.
