Asus Chromebit Installation guide

FAQ
How to power on your Chromebit?
There is no button in Chromebit, so there is no need to press any. If you want to power on your
Chromebit, you just need to connect Chromebit to a monitor via HDMI port, and then insert
power supply, Chromebit will power on automatically.
Connecting your Chromebit directly
1. Remove the cap.
2. Plug your Chromebit into an HDMI port.
3. Connect the power adapter into a power source, and then connect the power
connector into your Chromebit.
4. Connect your keyboard and mouse.
How to reconnect Bluetooth devices which were paired with your Chromebit?
To reconnect to your Chrombit's bluetooth device, please remove the original Bluetooth device
and reconnect the new device.
Please refer to the below steps:
Step 1: Click in the right bottom of the screen, and click Bluetooth enabled.
Step 2: Click Manage dvices.
Step 3: Put the mouse upon the device you want to reconnect, and then click to delete this
device.
Step 4: Click Add a device.
Step 5: Choose the exact Bluetooth device you want to reconnect, and then click Connect.
Nothing displayed on the Chromebit , what should I do to improve?
1. First make sure you connected the AC adapter of display correctly (the power connection
should 'snap in' securely and cannot be unplugged with one hand when connected properly)
and you are getting power to all your devices. Confirm whether the other connections are good
too.
2. If you connect Chromebit to a TV, choose "TV inputs" in Input Select from OSD menu on
display. In addition, you can confirm that you are able to get HDMI input on display device
working with a different system.
3. We also suggest you try to test Chromebit with other displays that support 1920x1080
resolution if possible.
If the display with 1920x1080 resolution works while other displays with lower resolutions do
not, please try to update the Chrome OS version before your next test.
Is there any way to prevent the Chromebit from Going to Sleep?
Under some situation such as educational setting , it may be desirable to keep the display ON
after a period of no using, so is it possible to prevent the Chromebit from going to sleep after 8
minutes?
As of March 2016, this appears to be a limitation with the Chrome OS which can occur on other
Chrome OS products too.
If necessary, we can suggest some third party apps to customers such as 'Keep Awake' , the
app they may want to look into more on their own .
What is the suitable environment for using Chromebit?
Please don't use your Chromebit in the outdoor or tough environment if possible.
How to check the Chromebit Chrome OS version?
Please click on the bottom right-hand corner of the desktop, select 'settings', and select 'About
Chrome OS'.
How to use Keyboard & Mouse in Chromebit?
There are only limited USB2.0 ports in Chromebit, if users want to use the keyboard and mouse at the same time, below shows
three methods:
Method one: Connect the wired keyboard and mouse to Chromebit via a USB Hub
Plug the wired keyboard and mouse in the ports in USB Hub and you are able to use both of them together.
Noted: If you plug too many devices into USB Hub, please make sure that your USB Hub is connecting to power supply. If not, it
might lead to the insignificancy of power supply.
Noted: The standard current USB 2.0 supports is about 500mA, if the current of loading is more than 400mA, it's necessary to
connect USB Hub to power supply.
Method two: Connect the wireless keyboard and mouse to Chromebit via a USB Hub
Plug the wireless receiver in the port in USB Hub and turn on the switch in a wireless keyboard and mouse, then you can use them
together.
Noted: The location of the receiver might affect the signal quality if you use wireless devices.
Method three: Using Bluetooth keyboard and mouse
1. Put mouse in the right bottom of the screen and one click in the corner, and then enable Bluetooth function. It will search
for available devices automatically.
2. Select the exact Bluetooth keyboard to pair with Chromebit and enter a passcode into the Bluetooth keyboard according to
the screen.
After a while, Bluetooth keyboard paired with Chromebit successfully.
3. Select the exact Bluetooth mouse to pair with Chromebit and wait for pairing. After a while, Bluetooth mouse paired
with Chromebit successfully.
Connecting your Chromebit with HDMI extension cable
1. Remove the cap, and then connect your HDMI extension cable.
2. Peel off one side of the coverings of the hook and loop sticker set, stick it to the back
of Chromebit, and then connect extension cable to your Chromebit. Plug the other side of
extension cable into an HDMI port of the monitor.
3. Connect the power adapter into a power source, and then connect the power connector
into your Chromebit. Peel off the other side of the coverings of the hook and loop sticker set,
stick it to an appropriate position.
Noted: The hook and loop sticker set might be less sticky due to reuse, so it's better to
measure a place for sticking to avoid the situation that the length of extension cable is less
than the distance between your Chromebit and monitor after you fixed the Chromebit.
4. Connect your keyboard and mouse.

would turn out to be what shows in below screenshot. There is no space between the
power cord housing and the Chromebit.
