Beforetransport,turnOFFtheNotebookPCanddisconnectanyexternaldevices,suchasUSBflashdrives,to
preventdamagetotheconnectors.
ClosetheLCDdisplaypanelsecurelytoprotectthekeyboardanddisplaypanel.
UsetheprovidedNotebookcarryingcasetoprotectthePCfromdirt,water,shock,andscratches.
CleaningInstructions
TurntheNotebookPCOFFanddisconnectthepowercordandanyexternaldevicesbeforecleaning.
WipetheNotebookPCoutercasingwithacleancellulosespongeorchamoisclothdampenedwithasolutionof
nonabrasivedetergentandafewdropsofwarmwater.Removeanyextramoisturewithadrycloth.
WipetheLCDdisplaypanelwithasoftcloth.Dampenwithplainwaterifnecessary.ClothshouldNOTcontain
anychemicals.
Strongsolventssuchasthinners,benzene,orotherchemicalsshouldneverbeusedonorneartheNotebookPC.

Thepowercordshouldbeconnectedasfollows:

NotebookPCCarryingCase
A16”CaseLogiccarryingcasewillbeprovidedwitheachNotebookPC.Thiscaseistobeusedfortransportingand
storingtheNotebookPCwhenpoweredoffandnotinuse.Thecaseincludes:

TurningtheNotebookPCOnandOff
PoweringON
TheNotebookPCcanbeusedwiththeAC/DCpoweradapterandcord,oronbatterypower.Thebatterypackhas
alreadybeeninstalledandwillbegintochargeassoonastheNotebookPCisconnectedtoexternalpowerusingthe
powercord.FullychargethebatterypriortousingtheNotebookPCforthefirsttime.TopowerontheNotebookPC,
opentheLCDdisplaypanelandpressthepowerbuttononce.
ThewhitelightonthepowerbuttonwillgoonandtheNotebookPCwillbringupthestandardWindowsCTRL‐ALT‐
DELETEscreen.PressCTRL‐ALT‐DELETEandloginwithyourBSD111usernameandpassword.
PoweringOFF
ClickontheStartbutton,thenclickonthearrownexttoLogOfftoselecttheShutDownoption:
PLEASENOTE:Intheeventthattheoperatingsystemcannotproperlyturnofforrestart,performanemergency
shutdownbyholdingthepowerbuttondownforatleastfour(4)seconds.

UsingtheTouchPad
Thetouchpadallowsyoutouseyourfingerstomovethepointeraroundorselectonscreenitemsinsteadofusinga
standardmouse.Tousethetouchpad,lightlypressortapyourfingeronthetouchpad.
MovingthePointer
Placeyourfingerinthecenterofthetouchpadandslideinadirectiontomovethepointer.
Clicking/Tapping
Thetouchpadbuttonsfunctionastheleftandrightstandardmousebuttons.Withthepointeroveranitem,clickthe
leftbuttonortapthetouchpadoncetoselecttheitem.Eitheractionwillhighlighttheitemshowingthatithasbeen
selected.Alternately,double‐clickingtheleftbuttonortappingthetouchpadtwiceinquicksuccessionwiththepointer
overaniconwillopentheintendedprogram.

Thefunctionkeys(f1throughf12)arelocatedatthetopoftheNotebookkeyboard.Themajorityofthesekeysare
imprintedwithanadditionalicon.Whenthesefunctionkeysareusedincombinationwiththefunctionbutton(fn),they
serveashotkeystoperformaspecificcommand.
HelpfulCommands
Thefollowingkeycombinationsperformtheactionsspecified:
1. fn+f2(RadioTowerIcon)–togglesthewirelessconnectiononandoff.Whenthewirelessisenabled,the
correspondingwirelessindicatorlightonthefrontoftheNotebookwillturngreen.
PLEASENOTE:IfthewirelessindicatorlightisNOTlit,youwillnotbeabletoaccessthedistrictnetworkorthe
internet.
2. fn+f5(SunDownIcon)–decreasesthedisplaybrightness
3. fn+f6(SunUpIcon)–increasesthedisplaybrightness
4. fn+f8(LCD/MonitorIcons)–togglesbetweentheNotebook’sLCDscreenandanexternalmonitor
