electricaloutletnotcontrolledbyawall
switch.
Turn system on/off

Operation
Listen to, save & delete messages
• Thesystemautomaticallysavesallincomingmessagesuntilyoudeletethem.Youcanstore
approximately40minutesofmessages,memosandannouncements(uptoamaximumof99
messages).
• Beforeplayingeachmessage,thesystemannouncesthedayandtimethemessagewas
received.IfStore numberisactivated,thesystemalsoannouncesthecaller’stelephone
number(seeStore numberunderFeature setuponpage3).Afterplayingthelastmessage,
thesystemannounces“End of messages.”
• Messagescannotbedeleteduntiltheyhavebeenreviewed;deletedmessagescannotbe
retrieved.

whilesettingtheclock.

Record your announcement
Beforeusingthisansweringsystem,youshould
recordtheoutgoingannouncement(uptothree
minuteslong)thatcallerswillhearwhenthe
systemanswersacall.Ifyouchoosenotto
recordanannouncement,thesystemanswers
withapre-recordedannouncement:”Hello,
please leave a message after the tone.”
1. PressandholdANNC/SKIP.Whenthe
systembeeps,speaktowardthemicrophone
inthelowerrightcorneroftheanswering
system,fromaboutnineinchesaway.While
recording,themessagewindowblinks .
2. Tostoprecording,releaseANNC/SKIP.
Thesystemautomaticallyplaysbackthe
outgoingannouncement.
To review the outgoing announcement,press
ANNC/SKI.
To erase the outgoing announcementand
returntothepre-recordedannouncement,press
DELETEwhiletheannouncementisplaying.
Callerscanskiptheoutgoingannouncement
bypressing#.
Record a memo
Amemocanbeuptothreeminutesandwillbe
storedasanincomingmessage.
1. PressandholdMEMO/REPEATWhenthe
systembeeps,speaktowardthemicrophone
locatedinthelowerrightcornerofthe
answeringsystem.
2. Tostoprecording,releaseMEMO/REPEAT.
3. Toplaythememo,pressPLAY/STOP.
Answer calls
Whenthesystemanswersacall,thecaller
hearstheoutgoingannouncementfollowed
byabeep.Afterthebeep,thesystembegins
recordingthecaller’smessage.Acallercan
leaveamessageofuptothreeminutes.Ifthe
messageislongerthanthreeminutes,orifthe
callerissilentformorethansevenconsecutive
seconds,orifthesystemrunsoutofmemory,
thesystembeepsonceandhangsup.Callers
canskiptheoutgoingannouncementby
pressing#.
Call screening/intercept
Turnontheansweringsystemandsetthe
volumecontrolsoyoucanhearthecaller’s
message.Ifthenumberannouncefeature
ison,thecaller’stelephonenumberwillbe
announced.
NOTE: If you listen to messages or
change feature settings, the volume will
automatically adjust to an audible level. It
will be necessary to reset the volume to the
lowest setting.
Ifyoudecidetospeakwiththecaller,lift
thehandsetofanytelephoneonthesame
line.Thesystemstopsrecordingandyoucan
answercalls.Ifthesystemdoesnotdisconnect
immediately,pressandreleasethetelephone
switchhook.
Caller ID number announce
NOTE:For this feature to work, you must
subscribe to the caller ID service from your
local telephone company. There may be
a fee for this service, and it may not be
available in all areas.
Thissystemcanannouncethetelephone
numberofacallerbetweenthesecondand
thirdring.(SeeFeature setupandFeature
summaryonpages2-3toturnthisfeatureon).

Whenthisfeatureison,thesystemwill
announcethecaller’snumberbeforeplaying
backamessage.
Accept blocked calls
Whenthisfeatureisturnedoff,thesystem
willrespondtoblockedcalls(fromcallers
whohavechosentoblocktheirnumbers
fromidentification)withthepre-recorded
announcement,“We’re sorry, blocked calls to
this number cannot be accepted.”Thesystem
thenhangsupwithoutrecordinganyincoming
messages.Whenthisfeatureisturnedon,itwill
answerandrecordmessagesfromanycaller.
Message window
Themessagewindowdisplaysthetotalnumber
ofmessagesrecorded.Iftherearemorethan
ninemessagesrecorded,themessagewindow
displaysthefirstdigit,seconddigitanddash
alternatively.Ifthemessagewindowdisplays
F,thenthememoryisfullandsomemessages
mustbedeletedbeforenewmessagescanbe
recorded.
New message indicator
TheON/OFFlightblinkswhentherearenew
messages.
Listen to incoming messages
Whenthesystemplaysincomingmessages,the
messagewindowdisplaysthenumberofthe
messageplaying.Beforeplayingeachmessage,
thesystemannouncesthedayandtimethe
messagewasreceived.Iftheclockwasn’tset
whenthemessagewasrecorded,ortherewas
apowerfailureafteritwasset,thesytemwill
announce“Power failure”afterthetimeand
day.Afterplayingthelastmessage,thesystem
announces“End of messages.”Ifyouwantthe
systemtoansweracallwhenyouareplaying
message,pressPLAY/STOPtoendmessage
playback.
Play messages—PressPLAY/STOP.Ifthere
arenewmessages,theywillbeplayed.Ifthere
arenonewmessages,theoldmessageswill
beplayed.Iftherearenomessagesinmemory,
thesystemannounces“No messages.”
Play message at half speed—Pressandhold
MEMO/REPEATwhilethemessageisplaying.
Play message twice as fast—Pressandhold
ANNC/SKIPwhilethemessageisplaying.
Repeat entire message—PressMEMO/
REPEAT.
Repeat previous message—PressMEMO/
REPEATtwice,continuethisprocesstolistento
otherpreviousmessages.
Skip to next message—PressANNC/SKIP.
Stop message playback—PressPLAY/STOP.
Save messages
Thesystemautomaticallysavesallincoming
messagesifyoudonotdeletethem.The
systemcansaveapproximately40minutes
ofmessages,includingtheoutgoing
announcement,foratotalofupto99
messages.Whenthememoryisfull,some
messagesmustbedeletedbeforenew
messagescanberecorded.
Memory monitor
Todeterminethesystem’sremainingrecording
time:
1. Ifthesystemison,pressON/OFFtoturn
thesystemoff.
2. PressON/OFFagaintoturnthesystem
on.Thesystemannouncestheremaining
recordingtimeinminutes.(Iflessthanfive
minutesremain,thesystemannounces“The
machine is on. Less than five minutes to
record.”)

Operation
Memory is full
Whenthememoryisfull,orwhen99messages
havebeenrecorded,Fflashesinthemessage
window.Youwillthenneedtodeletemessages
tomakeroomfornewones.Whenthememory
isfull,thesystemwillanswercallsafter10
ringsandwillbeeptwicewithoutplayingthe
outgoingannouncement.Enteryourremote
accesscodeanddeletesomeorallmessages.
Delete messages
Delete messages—PressandholdDELETE.
Thesystemannounces“Messagesdeleted”
andpermanentlydeletesallmessages.The
messagewindowdisplays0.Ifthereare
unreviewedmessages,thesystemwillplayan
errortoneandwillnotdeleteanymessages.
Delete selected messages—PressDELETE
whilethedesiredmessageisbeingplayed.The
systemwilldeletethemessageandplaythe
nextmessage.Ifyouwanttoreplayamessage
beforedeletingit,pressMEMO/REPEAT.
Whenthesystemreachestheendofthe
lastmessage,themessagesnotdeletedare
renumberedandthemessagewindowwill
thendisplaythetotalnumberofmessages
remaininginmemory.

ANSWERING SYSTEM OPERATION
Messages are
incomplete
• Thesystemcanacceptmessagesofuptothreeminutes.
• Ifacallerleavesalongmessage,partofitmightbelost
whenthesystemdisconnectsthecallafterthreeminutes.
• Ifthecallerpausesforlongerthansevenseconds,the
systemstopsrecordinganddisconnectsthecall.
• Ifthesystem’smemoryfillsupwhenrecordingamessage,
thesystemstopsanddisconnectsthecall.
System does not answer
after correct number of
rings
• Ifthetollsaverfeatureison,thenumberofringschanges
fromfourtotwo,orsixtofour,whentherearenew
messageswaiting.
• Insomecases,thesystemmightbeaffectedbythe
ringingsystemusedbythelocaltelephonecompany.
• Ifthesystem’smemoryisfullorthesystemisoff,the
systemanswersafter10rings.Ifthesetisinfeaturesetup
modeandacallcomesin,thesetwillnotanswerthe
calluntilyoupressPLAY/STOPorthesetuptimeouthas
elapsed.
System will not record
messages
• Whenthememoryisfull,somesavedmessagesmustbe
deletedbeforenewmessagescanberecorded.
Incoming messages are not
heard during recording
• PressVOLUME untilthedesiredvolumeisreached.

ANSWERING SYSTEM OPERATION
System does not respond to
remote commands
• Makesureyouarecallingfromatouchtonetelephone.
Whendialinganumber,thereshouldbeaudibletones.If
thereareclicksinstead,thetelephoneisnotatouchtone
telephone.
• Theansweringsystemmaynotdetecttheremoteaccess
codewhiletheannouncementisplaying.Trywaitinguntil
theannouncementisoverbeforeenteringthecode.
• Theremaybenoiseinterferenceonthetelephoneline.
Pressthedialbuttonsfirmly.
• Makesuretheremoteaccesscodeisenteredcorrectly.
• Youmightbecallingfromatelephonewhichsendstones
tooshortfortheansweringsystemtodetect.
• Iftherearemanymessagesrecorded,thesystemmaytake
longerthanusualtorespond.
Power failure recovery • IfthesystemisdisconnectedfromtheACpower,it
willnotoperate.Theannouncementandmessagesare
retainedinmemoryduringapowerfailure,butitwillbe
necessarytoresettheclock.Seetheinstructionsatthe
bottomoftheansweringmachine.
• Ifthesystemannounces,“Power failure”afterannouncing
thetimeandday,itmaybenecessarytoresettheclock.
Seetheinstructionsatthebottomoftheunit.
System takes longer than
usual to respond
• Iftherearetoomanymessagesrecorded,thesystemmay
takelongerthanusualtorespond.
Message window is blank • Makesurethepowercordissecurelyconnectedto
boththeansweringsystemandanelectricaloutletnot
controlledbyawallswitch.
• PressON/OFFtomakesurethesystemison.

General product care
Tokeeptheansweringsystemworkingandlookinggood,followtheseguidelines:
• Avoidputtingitnearheatingappliancesanddeviceswhichgenerateelectricalnoise(motors,
fluorescentlights,etc.).
• DONOTexposeittodirectsunlightormoisture.
• Avoiddroppingtheansweringsystemand/orotherroughtreatment.
• Cleanwithasoftcloth.
• Neveruseastrongcleaningagentorabrasivepowderbecausethiswilldamagethefinish.
• Retaintheoriginalpackagingincaseitisnecessarytoshipitatalaterdate.
