2. To savepowerand prolongthebattery,thescreengetstobeoff,whentheAT570
goesinto idlemode.Andit iseasytoresumeactivity.Justtapthescreenorpress
anykeyonthekeypad.

backlight.

Itistheperiodthatcomputergoeson withoutanyactivityforalong time,butit doesn’t
haveinfluenceondata
YoucansetuptheidlemodeandthePDAwill go intotheidlemodeautomaticallyafterthe
intervalthatyousetgoestotheend.Ithelpsyouprolong yourbatterylife.Ifyouwant to
restartyourAT-570whilethePDAgoesintoidletime,tapanywhereonthescreen.

2.1.4Suspendmode
1. WhenyoudonotuseAT-570 for along time,makeyourAT-570 gointothesuspend
modeforsavingpower.
2. If youwant torestartyour AT-570, press powerkey.
2.2Battery
AT570usesreplaceable4400mAh, Li-ionbatteries.
Ifthebatterycontinuestodropto the “LowBatteryStatus”,thebatterystatusLED
becomesredandblinks.Youneedtorechargethebattery.
2.2.1CheckingBatteryPower
Youcancheckthebatterystatusbyusingthepowerapplet.
TapStart>Settings]>Controlpanel>Power
Thepowercontrolpanelappletdisplaysabatterypower gauge.
2.2.2VeryLowBatteryStatus
Toprevent theAT570frombeingdischargedcompletely,yourAT-570 will besuspended,
whenthebatterycontinuestogetlow. Youneedtorechargeyourbatterybeforethebattery
continuestodrop.
2.3Removingand installing thebattery
2.3.1Removingthebattery
Atfirst, pull outthehandscrapandthenpress thebatterylatchtotheaboveuntilthebattery
isreleasedfromtheAT570,thenliftitout.
2.3.2Installingthebattery
Insertthebottomofbatteryintothesunkenplacelocatedinbatterycompartment,andpress
thebatterylatchtotheaboveuntilthebatteryisinstalledcompletely.
2.4Batterydischarging
Severalfactorsdeterminethelifeofyourbatterysuch asextremetemperatures, inputdevices,
andyour usage, butgenerallyyoucanuseAT-570 for 6~12hours.
IftheAT-570isnotonexternalpowerandbatterypackisremoved,itwill entersuspend
mode.
2.5Rechargingthebattery
Usetheadapter providedfromATID to rechargeyour battery.
Caution
Your AT-570 canbedamaged,incaseofusingtheadapterthat isnotprovidedfromATID.
2.5.1Usingtheadapter
Thecharge/operatingpowercanbeappliedtoAT-570 byusingDCadapter.
1. Connecttheadaptertothepowercord.
2. ConnecttheDCpowerjacktotheAT-570.
3. Whenthebatteryischarging, theLEDbecomesred.

2.6BackupBattery
ThebackupbatteryinthePDAisa200mAhrechargeablebatterythatholdssystem dataat
least2hourswithoutmainbattery.
CAUTION
Ifyouremovethebatteryorthebatterycompletelydischarges,thereisatwo(2)hourwindow
inwhich toinsertachargedbatterybeforethebackupbatterycompletelydischargesandthe
contentsoftheRAMmemoryarelost.Itisagoodideatokeepyour dataandapplicationsin
FlaskDiskforthatreason.Referto “FlashDisk”formoreinformation.
Ifboththebatterypackand thebackupbatteryareallowedtodischargecompletely,you
mustrechargebothbatteriesfor thirteen(13)hours.
Thebackupbatteryischargedoffthebatterypack,soitisimportantto keepthebatterypack
withatleastaminimalchargesotheunitcanmaintaindate, time, data, and othersettings.
2.7Disposalofthespentbattery
Whenthebatteryreachestheendofitsusefullife,thespentbatterymustbedisposedbya
qualifiedrecyclerormaterialhandler

Thissectiondescribesthebasicinformationforsetting yourAT-570.
3.1Power On
Pressthe Power keybrieflytoturnon thePDA. The Backlight comesonautomatically.Press
thiskeyagainbrieflytoturnoffthePDA.Toturnoff the Backlight whilethePDAgoeson,
pressandholdthekeyfor atleastasecond. Thiskeyactstotogglethe Backlight functionoff
andon.
Desktop: Thefigureattherightshowsthe
desktopdisplay,ormainscreen.
3.2Power Off
ToturnthePDAoff, press the Power keyagain.
Thisactionsuspendsthedevice, butdoesnot
actuallyturnitoff.All runningapplicationsremainas
youleftthem untilyoupressthe Power key
againtoresume operationofthedevice.

TheAT-570 manufacturedatthefactorykeeps80%brightness,butbecauseofseveral
reasonssuch asdarkenvironmentoruser’sconditionofeyesight,andaboveall,the
illuminationconsumesmuchpower,sothattheuserswant toadjustthebacklight.

needtobesetupafterpurchasingit.

Thoughtthescreenisalreadycalibrated, butifyou
havefeelingthatyour screenisn’tresponding
properlytoyourtap, youcanrecalibrateit again.

4.Resetting thePDA
WhentheAT-570completelystopsresponding foryour command,oranapplicationislocked
upand doesnot respond,and whenyouwanttoupgradethefirmware,it maybenecessary
toperformareset.
Caution
AlwaysattemptaWarmresetbeforeinitiating aColdreset. Onceyouinitiateacoldreset,all
applicationsareforciblyclosedand working RAMandfilesarecleared.
Itisagoodideato storeimportantdataintheresident(FlashDisk) forthisreason.
Warning
Do notuseforceorasharp objectlikepaper cliptopresstheresetbutton.Usethestylusfor
that purpose.Sharpobjectlikepaper clipcouldpuncturethesealoftheresetkey.
4.1WarmReset
Whenyoushouldperformthewarmreset?
Whenyoucannot turnonoroff aprogram,orexecuteotherprogramsbecauseof
“hang”-thesystem errorthatstopsresponding.The “warmreset”forrecoveringthe
AT-570istopress R/Sbutton onthefrontofAT-570.Thismethod not guarantee that
casheddisk datawill besaved, sotransactionaldatamaybelostduringthereset.
Procedureto WarmReset. To initializewarmreset, press and holdthe <Reset> key.
After WarmReset
•Thesplashscreenwill appearshortly.
•Thedesktopappearswiththeapplicationshortcutsonthescreen.
•Thecustomsettingsintheregistryarepersistent.
•TheRFNetworkPCCardifpresent,connectstothenetworksystem.
4.2Hard Reset(coldreset)
Whenyoushouldperformthecold reset?
Iftheperformedresetmethodfailstorestoresystemoperation,it maybenecessaryto
performahardreset.Thisisabootmethod thatformatstheobjectstoretocleandataand
registryinformation fromtheAT-570system and restoresthemtotheirfactory-defaultstate.
ThiswillerasethememoryintheAT-570,includingallapplicationsanddatafilesfoundinthe
objectstore(user store).
AHardresetisacompleteresetofthePDAinwhich all applicationsareforciblyclosedand
working RAMandfilesarecleared.
Hard ResetProcedure. ToperformaHardreset,simultaneouslypressthe <Reset> keywith
thestyluswhilepressing the <power> key.
After HardReset.
WhenaPDAgoesthroughtheHardresetsequence,itclearstheworkingRAMandinitializes
thefilesystem.
•Thesplashscreenwill appearshortly.
•Youwillbeaskedtorecalibratethetouchscreen.Press the <ESC> keytocircumvent
recalibration.
