WARNINGS
•DO NOT look directly into the laser beam through the disc tray, etc.
Eyesight may be damaged.
•DO NOT place fingers in disc tray when the tray is moving. Tray
may close on fingers causing injury.
•DO NOT attempt to open the cabinet. Refer servicing to qualified
personnel.
•DO NOT place foreign objects into openings. Contact with foreign
objects may result in dangerous voltage or electric shock.
•DO NOT place unit near strong magnetic fields.
•DO NOT place unit near radiators and other heat sources.

CAUTIONS
•DO NOT drop the unit, subject it to heavy impact, or place heavy objects
on the unit.
•DO NOT use this unit other than for its intended purpose. Doing so might
lead to electric shock or injury.
•DO NOT use near water, moisture, or volatile sprays. Do not use any
type of solvent when cleaning (surface damage may occur).
•DO NOT move the unit during playback. Damage to the disc may result.
•DO NOT use in cold, unheated cabin area. Moisture condensation may
damage the internal parts. Wait for the cabin to warm.
•DO NOT expose to sunlight or bright light. Damage to the sensor will
result.

GENERAL CARE
•When playing a disc for the first time, check that there are no burrs stuck in the center
hole of the disc.
•Do not touch the playback side of the disc. Do not apply tape to either side of the disc.
•Do not store discs in hot locations or in areas exposed to direct sunlight. Do not store in
damp moist areas.
•Remove discs from the player and return to their cases after each use. Do not stack loose
discs or prop them against anything.
•To clean dirty discs, wipe gently with a soft cloth. Start from the center of the disc and
move outward in a circular motion. Do not clean with solvents or other chemicals.
•Dust or fingerprints on the disc may cause sound or picture difficulties.
•When cleaning heavy dirt from the unit, soak a soft cloth in a weak detergent solution.
Wring out excess liquid and gently wipe the unit. Dry the unit thoroughly with a soft
cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.

INTRODUCTION
•Before setup or playing a disc, ensure that aircraft power is applied to the player. There
are no on/off controls on the unit. Power controls are located in the cockpit or cabin.
•Activate the monitor and speakers from the appropriate control panel. Audio will be
supplied through headphones or speakers.
•The names and functions of the DVD front panel are as follows:
1. Open/Close Button - To eject or load a disc from the DVD slot.
2. Play Button - To start playback of a disc or CD.
3. Skip (Forward) Button - To fast-forward the tape or to start a forward visual
search
4. Skip (Backward) Button –To reverse the tape or to start a backward visual
search.
5. Pause Button - To temporarily stop the tape during playback or a recording.
6. Stop Button - To stop the disc or CD tape.

INFRARED REMOTE UNIT
To replace the batteries, remove the battery compartment cover on
the back of the unit.
Load four (4) AAA batteries into the unit ensuring the positive (+)
and negative (-) terminals on the battery ends match the markings
inside the remote control unit.
For best results, use the remote control within seven
(7) meters of the remote infrared sensor in the
aircraft cabin.

SET-UP MAIN MENU
•Preferred Language Set-Up:
The DVD Video Player allows the user to select a preferred language for the Set-up menu and
for the on-screen displays.
1. Press the SET-UP button while the DVD is in the stop mode to select a preferred
language. The set-up menu will appear on the video monitor with the following menu
selections:
Screen Displays Angle Icon Subtitle
TV Shape Audio Disc Menu
2. Screen Displays Menu:
a. Press the button or button arrow bar to select the screen displays menu.
b. Press ENTER. The screen displays menu will provide a list of languages.
c. Press the button or button to select the preferred language.

d. Press ENTER button. The set-up menu will then appear in the preferred
language. An abbreviation of the language will appear on the right side of the
screen opposite each menu selection. Refer to the Appendix of this document for
a list of the preferred languages.
e. Press SET UP button again to exit from the menu.
•TV Shape Menu (selecting a picture size):
The DVD will allow the user to customize the default picture size according to the aspect ratio of
the video monitor.
1. To change the picture size
a. Press SET UP to access the set-up menu. Use the arrow bar to move down to
the TV Shape menu.
b. Press ENTER. The TV shape menu will appear on the monitor screen.
c. Use the arrow bar or arrow bar to select either NORMAL or WIDE.

d. Press ENTER.
- If normal mode is selected, the display mode menu will appear. Use the arrow
bar to select either PAN-SCAN (PS) or LETTERBOX (LB). PS trims the
picture to fill the monitor screen; either or both sides of the picture may be
trimmed. LB displays the picture with solid bars above and below the image.
Press ENTER to activate PS or LS. The set-up menu will then appear. Press
SET UP to exit the menu.
- If wide mode is selected, the set-up menu will appear. Press ENTER to exit
the menu. (A video disc recorded in normal mode cannot be changed to wide
mode. Since the picture size is preset on the DVD video disc, the playback
picture size may not conform to the display mode selected) Press the
RETURN button while a menu appears on the screen.

•Angle Icon Menu
The DVD is capable of displaying scenes from up to nine different camera angles if the video
disc was recorded with multiple scenes. The following instructions describe the process to
change the camera angle.
1. To display the angle icon on the monitor screen.
a. Press the SET UP button while the DVD is in the stop mode.
b. Press arrow bar to highlight ANGLE ICON. Press ENTER. The angle icon
menu will appear on the monitor.
c. Use arrow bar or arrow bar to select either ON or OFF. Press ENTER.
The set-up menu will appear on the screen. To exit the set-up menu, press SET
UP. A white angle icon will be displayed in the upper right corner of the video
monitor only while playing back a scene that was recorded from multiple angles.
The angle icon will turn red when the angle setting is displayed.

2. To de-activate the angle icon.
a. Press the SET UP button while the DVD is in stop mode.
b. Press arrow bar to highlight ANGLE ICON. Press ENTER.
c. The Angle Icon menu will appear on the monitor screen. Press arrow bar
to select OFF. Press ENTER.
d. The set-up menu will appear on the screen. To exit the set-up menu, press SET
UP.

•Audio Menu
The DVD automatically plays back a disc in the pre-selected language if that language was
included on the disc by the manufacturer. This menu will allow the default language to be
assigned and includes special output for visually impaired individuals.
1. Press SET UP while the DVD is stopped.
2. Press arrow bar to select the AUDIO menu. Press ENTER. The audio menu lists the
following language selections:
English Spanish German Japanese Korean
French Chinese Italian Dutch Malaysian
3. Utilize the arrow bar to select the preferred default language. Press ENTER. The set-up
menu will re-appear. (Some video discs may not contain the preferred language; the
DVD will automatically play the discs original language setting). If a mistake is made,
press the RETURN button to go back to the previous screen. Refer to step 4 for the
DESCRIPTIVE SERVICE feature for the visually impaired. Press SET UP to exit the
menu.

4. To set special sound output for visually impaired persons:
This setting will describe the actions on-screen and provide special audio output only if
the DVD video disc being played contains the special feature.
a. Before leaving the AUDIO menu, press the AUDIO button on the remote control
unit. This will set the DESCRIPTIVE SERVICE function to the ON position.
b. Press the ENTER button to activate the function. Press SET UP to exit the menu.
5. To select an audio setting during playback
The current audio setting will appear as a one-line display for about three (3) seconds. It
will contain the following information from left to right:
Audio mode, Position #, Language abbreviation, Type of recording system, & Audio channel #
a. The language abbreviation appears in the language indicator. Refer to the
appendix in this publication for a list of the languages.
b. Press the AUDIO button or arrow bar while the audio setting appears on the
video monitor. The audio settings will change each time the button or arrow is
pressed; arrow bar will cycle backwards through the choices.
