SAFETY
General Safety Information
Operating the Vehicle
Before driving this vehicle, locate the
instruments and controls, and become familiar
with their operation. After starting the vehicle
and while driving, always check to make sure
that the instrument readings are normal.
Every vehicle, including heavy-duty vehicles,
has blind spots. The sizes of the blind spots
vary from driver to driver and from situation to
situation. As a skilled professional driver, you
are in the best position to avoid accidents in
turns, lane changes or other maneuvers.
Autocar provides standard equipment (such as
cabs, windshields, window sizes and mirrors),
preferred by most owners and drivers under
most conditions and in most applications.
However, due to differences in the size of
drivers, their seating positions, the way that
they use and operate their vehicles, personal
preferences and other factors, no combination
of mirrors and other visibility enhancement
devices will eliminate all blind spots in every
situation.
The safe operation of this vehicle is up to you.
Because of your special preferences, needs
and circumstances, you may want to add extra
mirrors and/or other visibility enhancement
devices. If so, you should contact an
authorized Autocar service facility to obtain
those parts which best t your own personal
needs and preferences.
WARNING
All items within the cab must be secured
before the vehicle is set in motion. This
includes, but is not limited to: drinks,
clothes, books, tools, etc. In the event of
a collision, loose items could y around
inside the cab. This could cause personal
injury.
DANGER
Never try to operate or work on this
vehicle while under the inuence of
alcohol. Your reexes can be affected by
even a small amount of alcohol. Drinking
and operating this vehicle can lead to an
accident, causing serious personal injury
or death.
CNG Safety Information
Many Autocar vehicles are powered by clean-
burning compressed natural gas (CNG). This
section is designed to give the operator a
basic understanding of the safety procedures
to follow when fueling a CNG vehicle or in the
event of an accident.
CNG Fueling
Fire While Fueling
In the event of a re on or near the vehicle
when fueling:
1. DO NOT disconnect the fueling nozzle
from the vehicle receptacle.
2. Direct any other person(s) present to
evacuate the immediate area.
3. Trigger the Emergency Shutdown Device
(ESD) button (Figure 2 or Figure 3) on
the dispenser or at a remote location and
call the re department and others on the
emergency call list located next to the
remote ESD.
877-973-3486 AWE 00054 Rev. 0024
ACTT Xspotter Operator Manual

4. All equipment involved in the re should
be tagged “Do Not Operate” until it has
been certied as safe to use.
Figure 2
Figure 3
Fuel Nozzles and Hoses
Do not use a damaged fueling nozzle or
hose. Fueling hoses are rated such that
their burst pressure is four times that of the
normal operating pressure. The risk of a hose
bursting is minimal - unless there is damage
to the hose. In the unlikely event of a break,
the hose could whip around wildly and could
cause injury to any person in the vicinity. The
Emergency Shutdown Device (ESD) should be
activated immediately.
Fueling hoses are designed with special
breakaway couplings (Figure 4) designed to
disconnect under severe strain and stop the
gas ow if a vehicle drives away with the hose
attached to the vehicle.
Figure 4
Fuel Nozzle Malfunction
If a fuel nozzle valve on the dispenser does not
perform as expected:
1. Close the ow control valve on the
dispenser or time-ll post.
2. Remount the fuel nozzle to the bracket on
the dispenser or time-ll post and report
the situation to the facility supervisor.
3. The malfunctioning nozzle must not be
used to fuel a vehicle until the situation
has been corrected.
Vehicle Receptacle Malfunction
If a vehicle receptacle allows a small,
continuous amount of blow-by gas after the fuel
nozzle is disconnected:
1. Close the vehicle fuel tank manual
isolation valves.
2. Report the situation to the facility
supervisor IMMEDIATELY.
3. Do not take the vehicle into the vehicle
maintenance facility or near any ignition
sources.
AWE 00054 Rev. 002 5
autocartruck.com
ACTT Xspotter Operator Manual

Gas Release During Fueling
If gas escapes from the fuel nozzle during
fueling, and no re condition exists:
1. Close the fuel nozzle valve. If this stops
the ow of escaping gas, then there could
be a problem with the fueling equipment.
Disconnect the fuel nozzle and remount it
to the mounting bracket on the dispenser
or time-ll post, tag the fueling equipment
“Do Not Operate,” and report the situation
to the facility supervisor.
If closing the fuel nozzle valve does not
stop the ow of escaping gas, proceed to
Step 2.
2. Turn the dispenser emergency shut-off
valve to the OFF position. The valve is
located on the side of the dispenser or the
time-ll post and requires a quarter-turn
clockwise to place it in the off position. If
this stops the ow of escaping gas, then
there could be a problem with the fueling
equipment. Disconnect the fuel nozzle
and remount it to the mounting bracket
on the dispenser or time-ll post, tag the
fueling equipment “Do Not Operate,”
and report the situation to the facility
supervisor.
If turning the dispenser emergency shut-
off valve to the OFF position does not
stop the ow of escaping gas, proceed to
Step 3.
3. Close the manual shut-off valves located
on the vehicle fuel tanks to stop the ow
of gas from the vehicle fuel storage tanks.
Disconnect the fuel nozzle and remount it
to the mounting bracket on the dispenser
or time-ll post. Notify the appropriate
persons to diagnose the potential problem
with the vehicle or vehicle fuel storage
tanks.
CNG Vehicle Accidents
CNG fuel tanks are resistant to damage, but
the high pressure lines which connect them
to the vehicle could be vulnerable in a trafc
accident. The risk of ignition is no greater than
for diesel or gasoline fuels, but because of
the high pressure, a re can spread quickly.
Natural gas is lighter than air and will not
collect in a puddle on the ground, but instead
rise up and dissipate into the air.
Normal vehicle accident procedures should
be followed, with the following special
considerations for CNG powered vehicles:
• Immediately shut off the engine and remove
the key from the ignition.
• Listen for leaks.
• Check for the characteristic odor of natural
gas.
• If safe to do so, turn off all the vehicle fuel
shut-off valves.
• If fuel shut-off is not possible, or if the leak

CNG Fire Extinguishers
Fire extinguishers on CNG vehicles should
have a minimum rating of 20B:C and be readily
accessible to the operator. Fire extinguishers
at the fueling facility must be located not
more than 50 feet (15.24 meters) from any
dispenser or compressor skid. The re
extinguisher should be mounted so that the top
is approximately 44 inches (1.1 meters) above
ground.
Fire Extinguisher Types
According to the National Fire Protection
Association (NFPA) Guide, natural gas
res should be extinguished using CO2, dry
chemical or Purple K re extinguishers.

Fire Extinguishing Procedures
Quickly Assess the Situation
In the event of a CNG re, the most practical
way to extinguish the re is to shut off the gas
supply. Where it is impractical to shut off the
gas supply, then consider extinguishing the re,
or call the re department.
Using a Fire Extinguisher on a CNG Fire
If the re is small, and does not present
personal danger, use a re extinguisher.
Be aware that some extinguishers are not
as effective on a natural gas re as others.
Extinguishing a natural gas re with a re
extinguisher should be attempted only after
proper training.
Extinguishing the re may be undesirable
because of the possibility of re-ignition.
If the re is anything but small and easily
controllable, CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.
DANGER
If the ame is extinguished without either
stopping the ow of gas or extinguishing
any nearby ames, re-ignition can occur.
Further, additional re hazards can occur
if natural gas is allowed to collect in an
area. Call the re department and do not
re-enter the area until the area is cleared
by the re department.
Fire Involving Trash or Other Debris
If a small incidental re occurs near any natural
gas fueling equipment, and the re does not
involve the natural gas, attempt to extinguish
the re with one of the re extinguishers
provided at the site if it is safe to do so.
If the re is very near a natural gas dispenser
hose, compressor skid or high pressure
storage vessel(s) and of such a nature that
the fueling hose, skid equipment or storage
vessel(s) could be damaged, do not attempt
to extinguish the re. Evacuate of the area,
activate the ESD button and call the re
department.
Excessive Inhalation of Natural Gas
Inhaling large quantities of natural gas in a
conned area could lead to suffocation.
Treatment for excessive inhalation of natural
gas includes:
• Provide the victim with fresh air or oxygen
• Perform CPR, if required
• Call 911

Do Not Overload the Vehicle
This vehicle has been designed and
assembled for a maximum gross vehicle weight
rating (GVWR) as well as a maximum:
• Front axle weight rating (FAWR)
• Rear axle weight rating (RAWR)
The actual rating for this vehicle can be found
on the label attached to the door frame on
the driver’s side (Figure 5). If any of these
ratings are exceeded and overloading occurs,
instability, poor handling, failure of parts and
accelerated wear can occur.
DANGER
Under no circumstances should the
published GVWR, FAWR, RAWR, and/
or Tag or Pusher Axle (if equipped)
ratings be exceeded. Failure to observe
these precautions can lead to the loss
of vehicle control, resulting in a crash,
causing serious personal injury or death.

DANGER
Never exceed the load rating of the tires
or the vehicle weight ratings. Overloading
may result in tire failure causing loss of
vehicle control, which may lead to an
accident, resulting in severe personal
injury or death.
