4. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:
Important:
The adapter is only suitable for vehicles that have 12 Volt DC and
negative ground system. It is forbidden to use it on any other voltage
system.
The adapter only operates on vehicles that have factory fitted head unit
or aftermarket car radio, equipped with a CD changer port.
The installation can differ slightly depending on the model of the car and
the model of the car stereo.
Carefully read the User Manual before the installation. To guarantee the
correct installation and functioning of the adapter it is highly
recommended to have it installed by professional staff.
Some vehicles may require special tools to remove the car stereo. It is
advisable to consult your vehicle’s dealership or car audio professional if
necessary.
NOTE: MP3/CDC Switch Cable is optional and available for some vehicles only.
1. Turn off the car engine and remove the key from ignition.
2. Make sure your car radio doesn´t have a Security Code, otherwise be certain to
have it before unplugging the radio.
3. Extract the radio from the dash to get access to its rear side.
4. Find a CD Changer port at the back of the radio.

5. Plug the wire harness connector into the CD changer port at the back of the
radio. Make sure it has a firm connection.
6. Once the AUX Link car adapter is connected to the radio, you have to test its
performance before re-assembling the dash. Insert USB pen drive or SD card
and switch on the Head Unit. Press the CD (or Disc/Mode/CDC/SOURCE/AUX)
button on the radio once or twice to switch to playback mode of the car adapter,
with the symbol of LED light being on. Depending on the car stereo type CDC,
EX, or CD01 will be displayed on the radio screen. Now the audio adapter will
run normally.
7. Test the performance of the device by playing some of your music files.
8. If the test is successful, insert the car radio back into the dash and put the wire
harness and the adapter unit in a proper place.
9. Put the AUX cable in a convenient place (it can be displayed in the ashtray, glove
box, etc.).
10.The installation is completed. Connect your mobile device or insert USB/SD card
and enjoy your favourite songs with high quality sound.
Important:
If the harness has a BLACK ground wire, please attach it to any metal part of the
head unit body; If the harness has a YELLOW power wire, please attach it to the
power of the car, which connects to the battery; If the harness has a RED ACC
wire, please attach it to the ACC signal of the car. It’s extremely important to attach
these cables to the right place otherwise the AUX Link car adapter will not work!
If the car already has a CD-changer plugged into the jack, the AUX Link adapter
can be connected in parallel through the splitter (Parallel Harness or MP3/CDC
Switch Cable will be provided).
For Fiat, Renault models, there are two black wires with metal ends (male+female)
that come along with CDC connector. If you experience any noise problems when
using the adapter, please make sure to hook up the two grounding wires with each
other.
For Audi factory radio of mini ISO 8 pin, its CDC connector is 20-pin block
connector. In order to install AUX Link, it requires cutting the 8-pin part or
connecting it with our special Audi 20-pin adapter cable.
For Clarion protocol radios (some BUICK and SUZUKI radios), it is important to
totally unplug the wire harness before installation, so that to power off the electric

supply. If not, AUX Link may not work or it can cause radio screen flickering.
It is required to unplug the car radio from the power before installation on CAN-Bus
radios of Renault, Peugeot/Citroen, Mazda (new) and Ford (new). Otherwise, AUX
Link car adapter may work improperly or the car radio may be damaged. As for
Peugeot/Citroen without pre-installed CD Changer, to enable AUX Link to work, the
CD Changer function must be activated by professional tools. Please find out with
the Peugeot/Citroen dealer the information on how to activate the CD Changer
function.
The CD Changer must be completely disconnected before installation on BMW
radios with CD Changer (the 3-pin and the 6-pin connector, that are located in the
trunk, must be disconnected). Otherwise, AUX Link will not be recognized. Besides,
specific AUX Link and extra DSP kit should be used if the BMW radios are with
DSP.

two digits for track number, track number 100 will be displayed as 01, track 101 as
02, track 102 as 03, etc.). Still most OEM radios can only identify 6-10 folders.
5.4 MUSIC FILE SAVING & PLAYING MODE:
AUX Link supports multi-folder playback. To be able to access the music, it is
crucial that the music files have been organized/saved into folders, named CD01,
CD02, CD03...CD99, which will be correspondingly displayed on the radio panel
screen. If there is no folder with the name "CD0X", all folders and songs will be
recognized as only one virtual CD disk. Any other folders or music files, not named
according to the above-mentioned rule, will not be recognized or played.
The naming of the tracks is unrestricted, and the playing order will be in line
with the time that music files were saved on the USB stick or SD card. Make sure
not to save music files in the sub directory folders, otherwise, music files will not be
identified or recognized.
5.5 AUX IN:
AUX IN port can be used to connect auxiliary audio equipment, such as
smartphones, MP3 players, tablets, PSPs, laptops via a 3.5mm audio mini jack.
Make sure to remove USB stick or SD card from the adapter before you use the
AUX IN. Otherwise, the playback will not automatically stop. When in AUX playback
status, the volume can be controlled via the head unit.
5.6 LAST POSITION MEMORY:
Car adapter AUX Link supports memory playback. So once you select
another type of playbacks from CD or AM/FM, or you power off the engine, the
adapter will memorize the disc and track number to MCU. When you return to the
playback status of the car adapter, the music playback will continue from the MCU
memorized point.
NOTE: The playback of music tracks via AUX IN does not support Last
Position Memory.

When you use AUX Link for the first time, you have to press CD (or
DISC/Mode/CDC/SRC/AUX) button once or twice to switch to the CD changer
mode, then AUX Link starts running.
When AUX Link starts working, the LED indicating light is on. It usually takes 3-
10 seconds to load music files before the playback starts. If the car radio is turned
on but it doesn’t work and the LED indicating light is not on, the car radio would
probably not be powered on, or AUX Link car adapter is not connected properly.
Once the Head Unit is OFF or you switch to FM, the LED indicating light would go off
and AUX Link would stop working.
The first track in next folder will start playing automatically, when playback of all
tracks in the current folder is finished.
The operation of AUX Link car adapter is nearly equal to that of the factory fitted
head unit, but some button functions of some factory radios might be altered.
However, this alteration would not affect the functions of the factory head unit or
existing CD changer.
For most vehicles, please press CD button once or twice to switch between
original CD radio and AUX Link car adapter.
The displayed track numbers may change unevenly, if the track up or track down
button is pressed quickly in repetition.
MP3/CDC Switch Cable is provided for existing CD Changer on vehicles except
for VAG cars. Power off your head unit or vehicle and switch between MP3 (AUX
Link) and CDC (Original CD changer). For some vehicles, you may have to restart
the radio for once after operation on MP3/CDC Switch.
Parallel Harness (without MP3/CDC switch) is provided for VAG vehicles. When
you are using AUX Link and want to switch to existing CD Changer, press FM/AM or
other audio playback mode button and then press CD button to switch to existing CD
Changer. And vice versa.
