Product Warnings - Electrical
Product Warnings - Chemical
WARNING! Electric shock. The electrical equipment in this system must be
connected to a ground fault interrupting circuit. Failure to do so can cause elec-
trical shock resulting in severe personal injury or property damage.
WARNING! Electrocution. Never stand in water when handling electrical equip-
ment. Water is a conductor of electricity. Standing in water while operating this
equipment can cause electrical shock or electrocution resulting in severe per-
sonal injury.
WARNING! Add acid to water. Do not add water to acid. When refilling the acid
solution tank(s), make sure there is at least 1 gallons [37.8 liters] of water in the
tank before adding the acid. Adding a small amount of water to the concen-
trated acid will cause hot temperatures and possibly spattering of the caustic
liquid.
WARNING! Toxic gas. Do not add acid to the chlorine solution tank. Mixing of
chlorine and acid will produce a toxic chlorine gas that can result in death or
personal injury.
WARNING! Severe personal injury. Bleach causes severe eye and skin irrita-
tion or burns. Bleach is a strong oxidizer. Contacting bleach with other material
may cause fire. Bleach is harmful if swallowed. Keep bleach from contacting
clothing and other combustible materials. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and
clothing. Keep bleach in tightly closed container. Wash thoroughly after han-
dling.
Precautionary Statements: Bleach contact with skin may cause ulcers, local
discoloration, or eczema. Contact with skin or eyes may cause severe irritation
or burns. Ingestion may cause severe burning to mouth and stomach and may
be fatal.
First Aid Procedures: If bleach is swallowed, do not induce vomiting. If con-
scious, give two glasses of water or milk. In case of contact with skin or eyes,
immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing
contaminated clothing and shoes. In all cases, contact a physician. Consult
Material Safety Data Sheet for further health and safety information.

Avidity Science, LLC Puro Range Water Purification System Operation Manual
Introduction 1
Introduction
The Puro water purification system produces Type 3 water (1 to 40 µS) at a rate of 10, 20, 50 or 80 litres
per hour. Type 3 water is stored in an external storage tank where it can be dispensed when required, or be
connected to a distribution system.
All components are assembled around a reservoir chassis and are protected by a plastic housing designed
for bench or wall-mounting. The plastic covers can be removed for access to replaceable components.
All recorded data, warning messages, and dispensing information can be viewed from the controller dis-
play.
Puro Water Purification Models
The content in this manual applies to these models.
Purification Process
In normal operation, feed water enters the system via the inlet solenoid valve (V3), engaging the Reverse
Osmosis Pump (P1). The conductivity of the feed water is measured by the feed water conductivity
sensor (Q1) before it reaches the pump.

2Introduction
The untreated water is pumped through the carbon-based, Pre-treatment Module (TC001) to trap larger
particles that are greater than 20 micron, as well as chemicals such as insecticides, pesticides, herbicides,
and chlorides. The pre-treatment module is essential to protecting the RO membranes and must be
replaced at the stated intervals to retain the integrity of the RO membranes as effectively and efficiently as
possible.
The water then passes through one or more RO membranes (TC006/TC013/TC026). The RO mem-
brane rejects almost all bacteria, viruses, heavy metal compounds and organics, as well as removing 98 per-
cent of the salt content from the water. A percentage of the rejected water, referred to as the concentrate, is
sent to the drain through a Flow Restrictor (R1), while the remaining water re-enters the system to pass
through the RO membrane again, conserving water.
The product water, referred to as permeate, is measured through the Permeate Conductivity
Sensor (Q2) as it leaves the membrane. When the water quality measure is within the set limits, the Per-
meate Solenoid Valve (V4) is opened and the permeate water is fed into a Storage Tank (TANK) where
it is held as Type 3 water. As another option, the water can be dispensed to a distribution system or other
equipment using Type 3 water.
Should the water quality measure outside of the set limits, the system will display a warning for the user to
recycle or flush the water to drain.

Change the RO Membranes
Follow this procedure to change RO membranes.
IMPORTANT: To change the membranes the RO machine must first be removed from the system water flow.
1. Disconnect power to the Puro unit.
2.If the Puro is mounted to the wall, with the assistance of another person, remove the RO machine from
it’s mounting bracket and place the unit on a table.
3.Remove the screws that secure the rear panel and remove the panel.
4.Disconnect the tube fitting from the screw cap at the top of each membrane housing by depressing
the push fitting collars.
5.Remove the threaded screw caps from the RO membrane housing.
6.Remove the RO membrane module from the housing.
7.Insert a new membrane module into the RO membrane housing.
8.Secure the threaded screw caps to the RO membrane housing.
9. Reconnect the tube fitting to the applicable membrane housing.
10.Replace the rear panel and secure the previously removed fittings.
11.If applicable, mount the RO machine to it’s mounting bracket.
12.Reconnect power to the Puro unit and rinse permeate water to drain 2 hours before use.
13. Dispose of the used membranes following your site requirements for disposal.
CAUTION! Personal injury. Use two people to mount the RO machine to the
bracket on the frame. The RO machine weighs approximately 55 lbs [25 kg].
One person is not enough to stabilize and mount the unit. Failure to do so can
result in personal injury and equipment damage.
