Change Loom Name
1. AVLDrive Options tab
2. Type in a name in the ‘Loom Name’ field
3. Press Enter on keyboard, or click outside the ‘Loom Name’ field if using a tablet.
Change or Set Wireless Network
Changing Network settings is done in the ‘Network’ tab in AVLDrive. If unable to connect
wirelessly to change settings, connect using the USB cable.
Change from LoomDirect to WiFi/Router
1. Check the ‘Enable Router Connection’ option
2. Select an available WiFi network from the ‘Name’ field
3. Type the password for the selected WiFi network in the ‘Password’ field
4. Click ‘Restart Network’
5. Set your computer/device’s network to the selected WiFi network
6. Open AVLDrive using the loom name: http://<loomName>.local where
<loomName> is the name of the loom (default is NewLoom),
OR:
Connect to AVLDrive via USB cable to view the IP address of the CD5 in the
Network tab, under ‘Get Address Automatically’. Use the IP address to connect
to AVLDrive wirelessly (without the USB cable).
Change from WiFi/Router to LoomDirect
1. Uncheck the ‘Enable Router Connection’ option
2. Click ‘Restart Network’
3. Change your computer/device’s network to the LoomDirect network (“AVL_…”)
a. Use password: CompuDobby5
4. In address bar of browser type in: 192.168.16.2
5. Press Enter.
Close AVLDrive
To exit/logout from AVLDrive either:
1. Close the browser tab that AVLDrive is on or
2. Close the browser window.
Connect to AVLDrive
Connect via LoomDirect
1. Connect your computer/device to the LoomDirect network (“AVL_…”)
2. Open a browser on your computer/device
3. Enter the LoomDirect IP address in the address bar: 192.168.16.2

Connect via USB cable
1. Connect the supplied USB cable to the CD5 and your computer/device.
2. Open a browser on your computer/device.
3. Enter the correct USB IP address for your computer (Mac/Windows).
Connect via WiFi/Router
1. Connect your computer/device to the same WiFi network as your CD5
2. Open a browser on your computer/device
3. Enter the loom name address into the address bar: http://LoomName.local
or
Enter the IP address for the CD5 into the address bar (may initially require
connecting to AVLDrive by USB to retrieve the IP address)

WiFi/Router (Wireless)
This IP is assigned to the CD5 by the router when the CD5 has
successfully connected to that router/WiFi network. The IP
address is labeled as ‘Network Address’ in the Network tab.

Options tab of AVLDrive (“NewLoom” by default)

POWER
Yellow/Orange: Standby Mode
Red: Power is ON
NETWORK
Red: CD5 is connected to a WiFi network
Green: CD5 is broadcasting its own network (LoomDirect)
COM
Off: There is no computer/device connected to the CD5
On: A computer/device is connected to the CD5
ERROR
Off: Normal operation
On/Blink: A loom error was detected
SHED
Red: shed is closed
Green: shed is open
Off: In between shed open & shed closed

Power On/Off the CD5
Power On:
1. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet or power supply
2. Wait for the CD5 LEDs to stabilize (Power: yellow, Network: red/green, all others
are off)
3. Ready to connect to AVLDrive
Power Off:
1. In AVLDrive, go to the Utilities tab.
2. Select “Shutdown”
3. Wait for the CD5 to shut down completely (all LEDs will turn off)
4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet or power supply.
Standby & Weaving Modes
“Standby” Mode:
The CD5 is in ‘standby’ mode when the power cord is plugged in but a file has
not yet been opened for weaving (or the ‘Power’ button on the Weaving tab has
not been clicked). The Power LED will be yellow/orange in color, and AVLDrive
is ready for the weaver to login and select a file for weaving.
“Weaving” Mode:
The CD5 is in Weaving mode when a file has been opened for weaving. The
Power LED on the CD5 is Red.
Supervisor commands
These commands are typed into the address bar of the browser. The IP address/loom name will
vary based on the type of connection (USB/WiFi/LoomDirect).
Logout all active AVLDrive sessions
http://192.168.7.2/logout or

Restart the CD5/AVLDrive program

Reboot the CD5 system

Supervisor commands are intended for troubleshooting and/or when trying to return the CD5 to
a normal operating state. These commands are typed into the address bar of the browser.
NOTE: if typing a command into the address bar of a browser tab that has AVLDrive open, the
AVLDrive session will end.
Weaving
Open a file for weaving
1. Go to the Files tab in AVLDrive
2. Select a file
3. Click ‘Open for Weaving’
Enable Automatic Cloth Advance
Check the box for ‘Enable Auto Advance’ in the Cloth Advance section in the left-hand
side of AVLDrive.
Stop weaving and exit AVLDrive
1. On the Weaving tab, click the Power button to return the CD5 to standby mode.
2. Close the browser tab or browser window to exit AVLDrive.
Set Warp Tension
1. In Weaving mode, click the small arrows next to the value for the desired beam (if more
than one) in the ‘Warp Tension’ section on the left-hand side of AVLDrive.
Set Warpbeam Tension to Locked
1. Click the padlock icon in the ‘Warp Tension’ section of AVLDrive
2. Click the padlock icon once again to return the beam to the ‘normal’ position.
Set Warpbeam Tension to Free
3. Click the circle-arrow icon in the ‘Warp Tension’ section of AVLDrive
4. Click the circle-arrow icon once again to return the beam to the ‘normal’ position.

WIF files - upload, delete, rename
Upload a file to AVLDrive
1. Go to the Files tab in AVLDrive
2. Click ‘Upload to Loom’
3. Select the desired WIF file from your computer/device
Delete a file from AVLDrive
1. Go to the Files tab in AVLDrive
2. Select the desired file
3. Click ‘Delete’
Rename a file in AVLDrive
1. Go to the Files tab in AVLDrive
2. Select the desired file
3. Click ‘Rename’
4. Type the desired name, then click OK.
a. Note: you do not need to include “.wif” at the end of the name. AVLDrive will
include this automatically
