Important
Axisdevicessendtheinitiallysetpasswordincleartextoverthenetwork.Toprotectyourdeviceaftertherstlogin,set
upasecureandencryptedHTTPconnectionandthenchangethepassword.
Thedevicepasswordistheprimaryprotectionforyourdataandservices.Axisdevicesdonotimposeapasswordpolicyasthey
maybeusedinvarioustypesofinstallations.
Toprotectyourdatawestronglyrecommendthatyou:
•Useapasswordwithatleast8characters,preferablycreatedbyapasswordgenerator.
•Don’texposethepassword.
•Changethepasswordatarecurringinterval,atleastonceayear.
Adjustthecamerasettings
Note
Thecamerahasbeenpreconguredaccordingtotheinstructionsbelow.Ifyou’vechangedsettingsinthecamera,resetto
defaultbyfollowingtheinstructions.
Toaccessthecamerasettings,goto.
1.Placeavehicleintheregionofinterest.
2.Tomakesurethelicenseplateisbigenoughfortheapplicationtodetectit,gotoSystem>Orientationandselect
thepixelcounter.Checkthatthewidthofthelicenseplateequalsatleast130pixelsforlicenseplateswithonerow
andatleast70pixelsforlicenseplateswithtworows.
3.Gotothecamera’swebpage,selecttheImagetabanddothefollowingadjustments:
-ettheautofocusareaonthelicenseplateandclickAutofocus.Ifthelicenseplateisstillnotinfocus,
ne-tuneusingthemanualfocus.
-TurnoffWidedynamicrange.
-etLocalcontrastto20.Thisreducesnoiseduringnighttime,butstilllightsupthelicenseplatesenoughto
makethemvisible.Ahigherlocalcontrastvaluemakesthelicenseplatesmorevisibleduringnighttime,but
increasesnoise.
-TurnofftheIR-cutlter.
-etMaxshutterto1/500.
-etMaxgainto24dBtooptimizetheblurandnoisetrade-offinmostscenes.Ifthelicenseplategets
overexposed,adjustthemaxgaindownto9dB.
-TurnoffLockaperture.Thissetstheiristoautomaticmode,whichwerecommendespeciallyifthevehicle
facesdirectsunlight.
4.Testtheabovesettingsbyrunningthroughthescenariowithavehicle.Forbestresults,testthesettingsinthedarkest
lightingconditions.Thisway,yougetagoodresultbothduringnighttimeanddaytime.

3.Enterthelicensecodeandtheserialnumber.
4.avethelicensekeyleonthecomputer.BrowsetoselecttheleandthenclickActivate.
