General use
DMX channels
This 6-channel DMX controller is suitable for simple venues where DMX-controlled lighting is only controlled
with several DMX-channels. The OSO COM 6 is mostly used for controlling RGB LED fixtures, fog machines,
special effects and simple static stage lighting.
Always ma e sure that your connected DMX device requires not more than 6 DMX-channels. When
connecting devices that require more channels, it might be possible that some functions can not be
controlled. It is also possible to give multiple devices the same starting address, or to connect multiple DMX-
controlled devices that require 6 or less channels when adding up the used DMX channels.
Sliders/faders
The unit contains a slider per channel. Each slider provides a signal between 0 and 255 (0-100%). Please
chec the product manual of the connected device which channel and value triggers which function. For
static light (such as parcans, connected to a DMX dimming device), each channel can be controlled between
0 and 100% intensity.
Also ma e sure that the selected starting address of your connected device is set properly. When you select
DMX starting address 2 for a 6-channel device, there is a possibility that not all functions can be triggered.
Master fader
The unit is equipped with a master fader (slider). This unit ma es it possible to control the overall intensity
from 0 to 100% evenly for all channels.
For example, when the value of every channel is set to value 255 (100%), the master fader can control the
group of channels and evenly bring down the intensity. This only wor s for static lighting (intensity values).
When a normal channel is set to 50% intensity, the master slider only increases or decreases the value from
0 to 50% evenly.
When using the master slider in combination with intelligent behavior of DMX-lighting (such as movement,
gobo change, color change, macros or strobe, this function may cause strange response from your
connected DMX-lighting. Please leave the master slider to 100% intensity when you only want to change the
value of the normal channels independently from 0 to 255.
Wor s with the master-slider:
- Static DMX dimmer (e.g. for parcans, spotlights, theatre lights)
- Static DMX RGB LED devices (e.g. LED-parcans, LED-bars, LED-projectors)
- 1-channel fog machines (output 0-100%)
- Special effects (such as DMX controlled confetti shooters)
- DMX switchpac s (which will activate a connected device at 50% intensity or above)
Might not wor properly with the master slider :
- (LED) DMX scanners
- (LED) DMX movingheads
- (LED) DMX lighting effects
- Static DMX RGB LED devices with strobe, master dimmer and macro functions (e.g. LED-parcans, LED-
bars, LED-projectors)
- Any other DMX-controlled device with intelligent behavior (such as movement, gobo change, color change,
macros or strobe)
Power supply
A power supply for direct connection to a wall outlet is provided (230V AC, 50 Hz). Please chec carefully if
your wall outlet is suitable for the voltage requirements of this unit.
The included power supply transforms the currency to a 9V DC voltage.
It is possible to use a 9V battery as a power supply. To connect a 9V battery, please remove the lid on the
rear of the controller with a suitable screwdriver. Behind the lid you will find connection terminals to connect
your battery and to store it safely inside the unit.
Any information and illustrations shown in this user manual are subject to change without further notice.

When the battery is connected and inserted properly, the lid can be placed bac and tightened with the
supplied screws.
NOTE: Please remove the battery when the unit will not be used for a longer period of time.
ON/OFF switch and Power LED
Please note that this device is equipped with an on/off switch. When the unit is activated, the Power LED
indicator on top of the unit will light up.
DMX output
This device uses a female 3-pin XLR connector for the distribution of the DMX signal. Please note that a
small group of devices might not wor proplerly with this device or might have a different connector.
1. Martin protocol: Old lighting effects from the brand Martin might use a different control protocol, where the
data pins of the controller might be inverted. This can be solved by ma ing an adapter cable which switches
the data pins.
2. 5-pin DMX devices: Some modern, high-class intelligent DMX lighting devices might wor with 5-pin XLR
connectors. Adapter cables from 3-pin to 5-pin connectors can be purchased at your local dealer/selling
point.
Mounting brackets
The unit is equipped with mounting brac ets, which ma es proper installation in a des , wall or shelf
possible. Please measure carefully and pay attention to the position of the connectors when installing this
product in such an environment. Use plastic rings to prevent scratches on the unit from screws and/or bolts.
