SAFETY PRECAUTIONS CONTENTS
1. The ’Quintro+’ Pro Audio Video
Control operates within 220-240V
AC / 50Hz.
2. If you have to replace the fuse, you
must use a fuse of 250V/ F400 mA
/ 5 x 20 mm and with the safety
approval mark.
Never open the
cabinet or leave
the cabinet open
with the mains
connected.
3. Never put heavy
objects or
containers with
water on top of
the ’Quintro+’.
4 Never insert any
object into the case nor touch the
inside of the ’Quintro+’.
5. Ensure good ventilation. Do not
cover or obstruct the ventilation
slots of the ’Quintro+’.
6. Choose a good location that is
well ventilated,
out of direct
sunlight and
away from
direct
heat, vibration,
high
humidity or excessive dust.
7. It is preferable and safe to leave
the ’Quintro+’ always on.
Power consumption is minimal.
However, when the ’Quintro+’ is to
be out of use for a long period, you
should disconnect it from the
mains.

HOW TO CONNECT
1. Please follow the diagramatic
illustration of “Recommended
Connections” on the opposite page.
2. You Primary VCR should always be
connected to “SCART 1”.
2. Video output on the “TV1” Phono
socket is the same as that on the
“TV” SCART output.
3. Video output on the “TV2” Phono
socket is selectable by the TV2
button on the front panel:
Button released = video same
as that output on SCART “1”.
Button depressed = video
same as that output on “TV”
SCART.
4. Audio output on the “HI-FI”
Sockets is as output on the “TV”
SCART.

5. AUX INPUT
The Scart and Phono sockets on
the front and back panels of Input
“5 -AUX IN” are parallel, hence,
any one of these three inputs can
be used.
However, you can connect equipment
permanently to the Scart or Phono
sockets of Input “5”-AUX IN”, on the
back panel.
You may still use the “AUX IN”front
panel input for temporary attachment
of equipment.
The back panel Input of “5”-AUX IN”
will be disabled automatically
whenever you plug into the front
panel Input.
CONNECTING A SECOND VCR
A second VCR may be connected to
“SCART 2”’. To record video from any
other input, select as follows:
TV2 button released = video
output is the same as that
output on “SCART 1,”
Or,
TV2 button depressed = video
same as that on the “TV1”
Phono output.
CONNECTING TO
RGB or S-VHS EQUIPMENT:
Connect to any of the 5 scart inputs.

“QUINTRO+” will automatically switch
to the front panel AUX input and disable
the back panel AUX input.
If the connection between the TV and
the “QUINTRO+” is from Scart to
Scart, the “QUINTRO+” will also
switch the TV onto the AV Channel.
USING THE “QUINTRO+”
SMART AUTO-SWITCHING:
1. Scart connections:
If connections between the AV equip-
ment, the “QUINTRO+” and the TV are
fully wired Scart Leads, whenever you
switch on the desired AV equipment,
the “QUINTRO+” will automatically
switch to the correct input and switch
the TV onto the AV or RGB channel
in normal 4:3 or wide-screen 16:9
format.
Whenever you switch off the AV
equipment currently on, the
“QUINTRO+” will automatically
switch to the last active input.
If there is no active input,
i.e., all AV equipment
switched off, the
“QUINTRO” will
automatically switch to TV
(standby) and switch the TV to
the TV channel.
2. Front panel AUX input:
Whenever you plug onto the front
panel Video AUX input, the

3. LED Lamp Display:
All lamps will turn off and on in green,
red or orange fully automatically to
show the current video inputs and
outputs clear at a glance:
Round Lamp = Input
Rectangular Lamp = Output
Green output = video from
green input
Red output = video from red
input
Orange output = video from
orange input
MANUAL SWITCHING
1. SELECT -
At each press of the “SELECT”
button, you will cycle through all
inputs in the following order:
CONNECTION OPTIONS
"SCART-TV"
"SCART-3"
"SCART-1" "SCART-2"
"SCART-5" "SCART-4"

2. LOCK -
Depress the LOCK button to lock
the selected input to “SCART 1”
and the “TV2” Phono sockets for
uninterrupted recording or watching.
i.e., another TV may be connected
to the “TV2” Phono sockets.
3. TV2-
To select the output video.
Button released = Output
video as that on the Scart
connector “1”.
Button depressed = Output
video as on the Scart
connector “TV”.
LOCK FUNCTION:
To prevent recording or watching on
TV2 from accidental interruption, you
can lock the selected input:
1. Select your desired input, of which
the lamp will turn on in green.
2. Depress once the LOCK key. All
lamps will turn from green to
orange.
3. When the LOCK function is on, you
may select other input. The lamp of
the newly selected input will turn on
in green. The lamps of the locked
input and the VCR output will
change from orange to red.
MANUAL SWITCHING (continued)
Depending on the setting of
the TV2 button, the TV2 lamp
will change from orange to
either red or green.
4. To release the LOCK function or to
select another input for recording:
i. Select the locked input again, all
lamps change to orange.
ii. Depress the LOCK key once and
the LOCK function will be released.
All lamps will change from orange
to green.
iii. To select another input for
recording, select your desired input
and repeat steps 1 and 2.
HOW TO RECORD:
1. On your VCR, select the AV or
RGB channel.
2. Switch on the equipment, from
which, the video is to be recorded.
If digital TV is to be recorded, you
should select your desired channel
on the digital TV receiver.
3. Make sure the correct input on the
“QUINTRO+” is selected.
The lamp of the selected input will
turn on in green.

4. Depress the LOCK key once to turn
on the LOCK function to prevent
recording from interruption. All
lamps will change from green to
orange.
5. Depress the RECORD key on your
VCR and the PLAY key on the
video source equipment. Recording
will start.
RGB or S-video format can
be recorded on “SCART 1”.
To watch the output from another
device while recording?
i You may select another input,
recording will not be interrupted.
ii The lamp of the newly selected
input will turn on in green.
iii The lamps of the locked input and
the VCR output will change from
orange to red.
iv Depending on the setting of the TV2
button, the TV2 lamp will change
from orange to either red or green.
To watch the video being recorded
i Make sure your TV is on the AV
channel and select the locked input
again, i.e., all lamps in orange.
ii If you are watching video on the TV
connected to the “TV2” Phono
socket, skip this step and simply
release the TV2 button, i.e., TV2
lamp is either red or orange.
HOW TO MAKE TWO
DIFFERENT RECORDINGS
AT THE SAME TIME:
1. Connect the two VCR’s respectively
to SCART “1” and SCART “2”.
2. Connect the equipment providing
the video source to either SCART
“3”, SCART “4” or SCART “5”.
3. Select the input your require,
SCART “3”, “4” or “5” and
depress the “LOCK” key once.
Then select one of the remaining
inputs, SCART “3”, “4” or “5”.
4. Make sure the “TV2” button is
depressed, i.e., TV2 lamp in green.
5. Select the AV channel on each
VCR and depress the RECORD key
on each.
6. Depress the PLAY keys on the
equipment providing the video
source.
Two different recordings will start.
IMPORTANT: - You should
not perform any other
switching on the
“QUINTRO+” until
recording has finished.

HOW TO RECORD BETWEEN TWO
VCR’s:
1. Connect two VCR’s respectively to
“SCART 1” and “SCART 2”
sockets. Recording can be done bi-
directionally between two VCR’s.
2. To record from the second VCR
connected to the ”SCART“2” input,
select “2” and press the LOCK key
once.
Output lamps will change to red or
orange.
To record from the primary VCR con-
nected to “SCART 1”, select “1”,
press the LOCK key once and make
sure the TV2 button is released.TV2
and “1” In/Out lamps change to red or
orange.
3. Select the AV channel and depress
the RECORD key on the destination
VCR.
4. Depress the PLAY key on the
source VCR. Recording will start.
HOW TO OBTAIN HI-FI
STEREO SOUND:
Connect a Hi-Fi system to the HI-FI
Output on the rear panel of the
“QUINTRO+”, to obtain excellent Hi-Fi
stereo sound through your Hi-Fi system
from any input.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
1. I cannot release the LOCK
function?
You have to select the locked input
again before you can release the
LOCK function, i.e., all lamps in
orange.
2. I cannot watch terrestrial TV while
recording video from other input?
Make sure your TV is not on the AV
channel. If it is, switch it out of the
AV channel.
3. I want to monitor the recording?
You have to select the input being
recorded from and select the AV
channel on your TV, i.e., all lamps
turn orange.
If you are watching via the Phono
connection on TV2, simply release
the TV2 button on the
“QUINTRO+”.
