Introducon
Why is it important that parents use the breathing monitor?
During their rst year of life, infants are at risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) which is described as
a sudden and unexpected death of an otherwise healthy child.
Children under one year of age have irregular breathing paerns, and may even stop breathing.
The breathing monitor is the only device that is able to connuously monitor the characterisc breathing
movements of your baby whilst he is lying in a cot, crib or pram, and can provide an early warning of a
potenally dangerous situaon. It may then prevent sudden infant death syndrome from occurring. If the
parent detects the suspension of breathing (apnea) in me and is able to respond appropriately and restore
breathing, the baby is likely to be saved.
Using the breathing monitor is the most ecient way of prevenng SIDS. The Baby Control Digital breathing
monitor can save a life, but it is not a life-saving device.
Descripon of funcons of the Baby Control Digital
breathing monitor (BC-200, BC-210, BC-230, BC-220i, BC-230i)
1. The Baby Control Digital connuously monitors the breathing of a baby sleeping in his cot, crib or pram etc.
2. The sensor pad is placed directly on to the base of the cot under the maress and senses the baby’s breathing movements.
Informaon is then passed to the control unit to evaluate the measured values.
3. The Baby Control Digital breathing monitor connuously detects breathing movements, if it is unable to detect breathing
for twelve seconds it triggers an audible alarm. The detecon sensivity threshold can be adjusted (see “Adjusng the
detecon sensivity threshold”)
4. The Baby Control Digital is not able to intervene when it is unable to detect breathing movements but it is designed to
alert you to a possible serious situaon. Only a person who has undergone a dedicated training course is able to give
arcial respiraon and perform resuscitaon. Please ask your doctor for advice.
IMPORTANT: Please regularly check the funconality of your Baby Control Digital breathing monitor.
Please contact your distributor if your device does not appear to be funconing properly.

The Baby Control Digital breathing monitor has no direct contact with your baby. Its use does not interfere with normal
daily life of the family and their baby. It is discreet and easy to use.
2. Uniquely large monitored area
The size of one sensor pad is 300 x 500 mm. Depending on the model, the Baby Control Digital breathing monitors have
either one, two, three or four (twin type) sensor pads. The device with three sensor pads is able to monitor the enre
surface of most baby cots. Concerns that your baby may move outside the monitored areas can be reduced by using
addional sensor pads.
3. Variable placing of sensor pads
You may place the sensor pad in the baby’s temporary bed as well; just take the control unit with it.
4. Lateral sensivity
Even if the baby is not lying directly over the sensor pad, the device is able to detect breathing movements coming from
the side, so do not be concerned about insucient monitoring.
5. It can be used with all maress and cot frame types
The sensor pad of the Baby Control Digital breathing monitor is placed directly on the base of the bed and can be safely
used with any standard maress no maer how thick it is or what material it is made from.

How to use the Baby Control Digital breathing monitor
(BC-200, BC-210, BC-230)
1. Detach the outer plasc cover (4) from the control unit (8). The parts are not screwed together and can be pulled apart
carefully.
2. Insert two alkaline AA baeries (do not use rechargeable baeries) into the baery compartment (5) inside the control unit
(8). Make sure the baeries are in the marked +/– direcon.
3. Subsequently, the condion of baeries and control unit (8) are automacally tested. You will hear an acousc signal from
the speaker (3) twice and the green indicator light (6) ashes once and the red indicator light (7) ashes twice.
4. Aach the outer plasc cover (4) to the control unit (8).
5. Connect the sensor pad cable (11) to the socket (9 or 10) located on the side of the control unit (8). The sensor pad (11) can
be connected to any of the sockets (9 or 10).
6. Place the sensor pad (11) evenly on the base of the cot approximately located underneath where the baby’s chest is likely
to be and place the maress over it. Never bend, fold or roll the sensor pads!
7. Aach the control unit (8) to the baby’s cot using the Velcro straps. The Baby Control Digital cable must be secured so that
the baby cannot pull it. The best way to do this is to wind it around one of the cot bars.
8. The Baby Control Digital breathing monitor is now ready for operaon.
INFORMATION: When one sensor pad is used (BC-200 type), we recommend placing it under the maress
lengthwise for safety reasons; when two and more sensor pads are used (BC-210 and BC-230 types), place them
crosswise. If all three sensor pads are needed (BC-230 type), connect them to the control unit using the
T-connecon (included with the package). If the baby is already able to move around, the use of two or three
sensor pads is advised, even though one sensor pad would t the baby. It may happen that the baby moves o
one sensor pad during sleep and so the other pad can take over the sensing funcon.
Baby Control Digital 6

IMPORTANT: In rare cases, especially with low weight babies or babies lying on their sides, it may occur that
the sensor pad senses poorly and the displayed measured value is oen below the pre-set threshold level of
detecon. A temporary soluon may be to readjust the threshold level of detecon (see “Adjusng the
detecon sensivity”).
Switching ON/OFF your Baby Control Digital breathing monitor
(BC-200, BC-210, BC-230)
1. Press and hold the ON/OFF buon (1) for 2 seconds. The Baby Control Digital breathing monitor will not switch on if held
for a shorter period than 2 seconds.
2. The pre-set sensivity will ash on the display (2) ve mes. The factory seng is “3“.
3. Then the numerical values - “0” = no movement, “1” to “9” = there is any movement - will repeatedly ash on the
display (2).
4. The Baby Control Digital breathing monitor is now switched on and ready for operaon.
5. The green indicator light (6) ashes when the intensity of movements reaches or exceeds the pre-set sensivity level for
detecon.
6. The red indicator light (7) will start to ash following a short audible signal from the speaker (3), if a dangerous situaon
occurs (see “Alarm status of Baby Control Digital breathing monitor”).
7. Aer the alarm signal is acvated, you can stop the alarm by pressing the ON/OFF buon (1) once. The control unit (8) is
switched o.
8. The Baby Control Digital breathing monitor can be switched o by pressing the ON/OFF buon (1) twice in succession. Aer
the rst press the display (2) shows“-” and if you press the ON/OFF buon (1) again within 5 seconds, Baby Control Digital
switches o with two short audible signals. If you do not press the ON/OFF buon again within 5 seconds, the monitor stays
on and returns to normal operaon.
IMPORTANT: The display of the Baby Control Digital may show values 1 – 9 even if there is no movement or
the sensor pads are disconnected. This is not an error, the device is only adjusng to surrounding condions.
INFORMATION: When switched o, the device does not consume any electricity, so it is not necessary to
remove baeries when used daily. If the device is not going to be used for a long period of me, take the alkaline
AA baeries out of the baery compartment (5).
Baby Control Digital 7
Operaon of the Baby Control Digital breathing monitor
(BC-200, BC-210, BC-230)
The numerical display (2) will show the intensity of breathing movements detected by the Baby Control Digital approximately
every 2.5 seconds (9 - the most intensive, 1 - the least intensive, 0 - no movement detected). At the same me the green
indicator light (6) will ash if the intensity of detected movement reaches or exceeds the pre-set threshold value.
It is therefore possible to check even from a distance whether the device has detected a movement that is intensive enough.
An audible warning signal will sound from the speaker (3) and the red indicator light (7) start to ash when the measured
value does not reach the pre-set threshold level four mes in succession (12 seconds). Then the alarm is acvated. If the
measured value is very low or equal to zero, it is likely that the maress placed on the sensor pad is extremely thick or the
baby is lying close to the edge of the sensor pad (11). Please change this to avoid false alarms.

IMPORTANT: For the Baby Control Digital breathing monitor operaon it is very important to adjust the
threshold level of detecon, i.e. the value between 1 and 9 to be aained by the breathing movement of the
baby. Typically, the value 3 is used (factory seng). You may change the seng in certain situaons
(see “Adjusng the detecon sensivity threshold”).
Adjusng the detecon level threshold
(BC-200, BC-210, BC-230, BC-220i, BC-230i)
IMPORTANT: The factory seng for the detecon threshold level is 3. This value is opmal for babies up unl
one year of age. Please only change it if you are jusably required to.
The detecon threshold level of the Baby Control Digital breathing monitor can be set to one of nine threshold levels. It
may be necessary to increase or decrease it according to the individual situaon. Please bear in mind that by decreasing the
detecon threshold level, the Baby Control Digital breathing monitor will become more sensive to false vibraons from
the surroundings, while its increase may make it more dicult to detect weak breathing movements! Therefore tests must
be performed several mes and very carefully aer the threshold level has been adjusted (see “Tesng”). Special aenon
must be paid to appliances eming permanent vibraons, such as air condioning equipment, refrigerators, etc. If another
value than 0 is ashing on the display and the baby is not in the cot, the Baby Control Digital breathing monitor is detecng
vibraons from some source in its surroundings. In such cases do not use it unl the source of vibraons is found and
removed.
The jused case for changing the detecon threshold level is e.g. When the Baby Control Digital breathing monitor without
the baby’s presence shows any value higher than 0 due to vibraons and it is not possible to prevent the vibraons from
occurring (e.g. heavy trac in the street). In such cases please set the detecon threshold level 2 levels above the highest
value caused by such a disturbance. You must be aware that by increasing the detecon threshold level (decreasing the
sensivity) will mean that the Baby Control Digital will not respond to ny breathing movements of the baby which may
increase the probability of false alarms. This is the main problem with low weight babies, whose breathing movements are
weak even under normal condions.
Somemes, it may become necessary to set the detecon threshold to level 2 or 1, especially in the case of premature babies
with low weight; however one should proceed with great care when seng at these levels so that vibraons coming from
the surroundings do not inuence the sensing. This may be checked on the display when the device is switched on and the
baby is not lying in the bed! In the absence of the baby, Baby Control Digital breathing monitor must sound an alarm under
normal condions.
How to readjust the detecon threshold level
1. Switch o the Baby Control Digital breathing monitor using ON/OFF buon (1) and wait for 5 seconds.
2. Then press the ON/OFF buon (1) and hold for 20 seconds. The display (2) will show the actual value of the threshold
detecon level (1 to 9); then the leers “P”– “L”. Wait unl the leers “L” –“E”are displayed.
3. Release the ON/OFF buon (1) when “L”- “E” (LEVEL) has appeared. Numbers “1” to “9” slowly appear on the
display (2) (the sequence is displayed three mes in succession).
4. Press briey the ON/OFF buon (1) when your desired level of detecon threshold appears on the display (2). Thus the
new detecon threshold level is stored. This new value will quickly ash several mes on the display (2) and the device
is restored to normal operaon.
Baby Control Digital 8

IMPORTANT: Always repeat the tesng aer the readjustment of threshold level of detecon has been carried
out.
Condions for the Baby Control Digital breathing monitor
to Alarm (BC-200, BC-210, BC-230)
1. The breathing movements detected on the sensor pad (11) are four mes in succession lower (12 seconds) than the pre-set
detecon threshold level.
2. The red indicator light (7) starts ashing and simultaneously four warning audible signals sound from the speaker (3).
(If the detecon of breathing movements is restored during this phase, the Baby Control Digital connues its normal
operaon.)
3. The alarm is triggered! The display (2) shows the leers “H”–“E”–“L”–“P”.
4. The alarm sounds unl you press the ON/OFF buon (1). Then the device switches o.
5. The alarm occurs even when the signal from any of sensor pads (11) is received again.
6. In the case of any alarm you must check whether it was false or not (false alarms can be caused by the maress being too
thick or the baby moving outside the sensor pad’s detecon area).
INFORMATION: Consult your baby’s doctor as to how to deal with such situaon. Take part in training where
advice is given together with praccal exercises. This is the only way to acquire the skills that are essenal when
restoraon of breathing is needed.
IMPORTANT: In the case of a true alarm, check immediately whether the airways are not obstructed by any
foreign body or vomit. If so, try to remove the foreign body from the baby’s mouth or nose and call the
emergency services! If you see no foreign body in the airways, immediately start with the restoraon of
breathing based on knowledge gained on a training course. If you have not aended any such training, call a
suitably qualied person who is able to perform rst aid to restore breathing. Do not panic in danger. It is very
important to keep cool, because any hasty acon may lead to irrevocable damage! One must be psychologically
prepared for an occurrence of such an event and know exactly what to do.
Baby Control Digital 9
Event memory of Baby Control Digital breathing monitor
(BC-200, BC-210, BC-230, BC-220i, BC-230i)
The Baby Control Digital breathing monitor features a 9 minute event memory which records the events of last 9 minutes
before the switch-o (both numbers on the display and acousc signals). These recordings may become very useful especially
when an alarm occurs as they may make it possible to gain informaon about whether your baby’s breathing paern before
the alarm was regular or not.

How to read the event memory
1. Switch o Baby Control Digital breathing monitor using ON/OFF buon (1) and wait for 5 seconds.
2. Then press the ON/OFF buon (1) and hold for 10 seconds unl leers “P” –“L” (PLAY) appear. Release the
ON/OFF buon (1).
3. The display (2) shows the minutes passed “1P”, “2P”to“9P” (max. 9 minutes). Choose how many last minutes you
want to replay.
4. When you see the required minute, press the ON/OFF buon (1). The values, which have been recorded during
this minute, will be replayed (both numbers on the display and audible signals). Replay takes place in real me,
which means that recorded values follow each other in the same way and same me as they happened while the
device had been used.
5. You may stop replaying at any me by pressing the ON/OFF buon (1). Pressing the buon once will switch Baby
Control Digital to normal mode, pressing it twice will switch it o.
6. Aer the whole recording has been played, its end is marked with a long tone and the device switches to normal
mode.
Low baery voltage of Baby Control Digital breathing monitor
(BC-200, BC-210, BC-230, BC-220i, BC-230i)
Aer the Baby Control Digital is switched on by the ON/OFF buon (1) and aer the pre-set detecon threshold level ashes
ve mes on the display (2), the leer “E” will constantly ash on the display accompanied by an acousc signal. This means
that the baery voltage is low. Any voltage drop to 2.7V (1.35V per one baery) may endanger the reliable operaon of Baby
Control Digital breathing monitor. In such case do not use the device. The Baby Control Digital cannot be switched o unl
baeries are replaced. Always keep a spare set of alkaline AA baeries at home in order to ensure uninterrupted operaon.
The baery life is about 2-3 months, depending on the baery type and number of hours of operaon.
IMPORTANT: If there is a short acousc signal aer the device has been switched on and “E” ashes once on
the display, the baery will soon be depleted. The Baby Control Digital breathing monitor may be safely used for
another 12 hours, however you should replace the baeries as soon as possible! The baery condion is tested
automacally every me the device is switched on.
Baby Control Digital breathing monitor must not be used with rechargeable AA baeries, because their
combined rated voltage is only 2.4V!
Tesng the Baby Control Digital breathing monitor
(BC-200, BC-210, BC-230, BC-220i, BC-230i)
To test the Baby Control Digital baby monitor perform the following tests.
Remove the baby from the cot and allow the bed and surroundings to sele for a few minutes. Switch the device on, the
pre-set threshold (default is 3) will ash on the display several mes. Then every 2.5 seconds the detected value will be
displayed on the display, with no movement this should be 0 or 1. Then gently touch the maress with your ngers and
observe the number on the display increasing. Then remove your hand and the numbers on the display will decrease back
down to 0 or 1. Once it has reached 0 or 1, wait a further 14 seconds and you will hear an audible pre alarm signal 4 mes.
If no movement is detected the alarm will sound aer 20 seconds. Test your Baby Control Digital breathing monitor at least
once or twice a week.
Baby Control Digital 10

IMPORTANT: The Baby Control Digital breathing monitor is sensive to even ny mechanical vibraons coming
from the surroundings and its operaon may be inuenced by external eects (venlator, draught, nearby
refrigerator, TV, toy of baby’s elder brother or sister, dynamic walk near the cot, etc.). We recommend that you
eliminate these eects as much as possible not only for the sake of the baby’s undisturbed sleep, but also to
avoid the malfuncon of the device. If these eects cannot be completely eliminated, then perform the
tesng with increased cauon. In case of need you may decrease the sensivity of Baby Control Digital
breathing monitor so that the threshold level of detecon is adjusted in the manner described above
(see “Adjusng the detecon level threshold”).
Baby Control Digital breathing monitor – TWIN MODE
(BC-220i, BC-230i)
Characterisc features
If the appropriate condions are met, Baby Control Digital breathing monitors BC-220i and BC-230i are able to monitor the
breathing of twin (two) babies at the same me and alarm if suspension of breathing occurs in either of them. BC-220i and
BC-230i only dier in the number of sensor pads they come with (BC-220i – 2 sensor pads, BC-230i – 4 sensor pads).
BC-220i BC-230i
Baby Control Digital 11
To ensure the proper use of twin mode, each baby must be in placed in his/her own cots. These Cots should be placed as far
away from each other as the cables of the sensor pads will allow, but at least 40 cm. This ensures that the movements of each
baby will not interfere with the other’s sensor pads. You may test whether the cots are at an adequate distance by taking
one baby out of the cot. The sensor pad placed in his/her cot then must display no movement and the Baby Control Digital
breathing monitor will trigger an alarm. Then the test should also be carried out with the second baby. At least 2 sensor pads
are needed for twins, one pad under each baby.

Pung Baby Control Digital breathing monitor –

7. Aer the audible alarm signal is acvated, you can only stop the alarm by pressing the ON/OFF buon (1) once.
The control unit (8) is switched o.
8. The Baby Control Digital breathing monitor can be switched o by pressing the ON/OFF buon (1) twice in succession.
Aer the rst press the display (2) shows “-” and if you press the ON/OFF buon (1) again within 5 seconds, the device
switches o with two short audible signals. If you do not press the ON/OFF buon again within 5 seconds, the monitor
stays on and returns to normal operaon.
Operaon of the Baby Control Digital breathing monitor –
TWIN MODE (BC-220i, BC-230i)
The numerical display (2) will show the intensity of breathing movements detected by the Baby Control Digital approximately
every 2.5 seconds (9 - the most intensive, 1 - the least intensive, 0 - no movement detected). At rst, the value coming from
the le socket (9) is displayed – breathing movements of the baby lying on the sensor pad to the le. Then the value coming
from the right socket (10) is displayed - breathing movements of the baby lying on the sensor pad to the right.
Baby Control Digital 12

IMPORTANT: In the twin mode, at rst the status of the sensor pad connected to the socket on the le-hand side
ashes on the display, then the status of the sensor pad on the right-hand side.
IMPORTANT: For the Baby Control Digital breathing monitor operaon it is very important to adjust the
threshold level of detecon, i.e. the value between 1 and 9 to be aained by the breathing movement of the
baby. Typically, the value 3 is used (factory seng). You may change the seng in jused cases (see “Adjusng
the threshold level of detecon”).
Alarm status of Baby Control Digital breathing monitor –
TWIN MODE (BC-220i, BC-230i)
1. The detected value of breathing movements coming from the le or right sensor pad (11) is lower four mes in succession
(12 seconds) than the pre-set detecon threshold level.
2. The indicator light (6 – baby lying to the le or 7 – baby lying to the right) above the appropriate socket starts ashing red
and simultaneously four audible warning signals sound from the speaker (3).
(If detecon of breathing movements is restored in this phase, Baby Control Digital connues its normal operaon.)
3. The alarm is triggered! The display (2) shows the leers “H” – “E” – “L” – “P”.
4. The alarm sounds unl you press the ON/OFF buon (1). Then the device switches o.
5. The alarm is not silenced even when the signal from any of sensor pads (11) is transmied again.
6. In case of any alarm you must check whether it is not false (a false alarm can be caused by a maress being too thick or
baby moving outside the sensor pad).
IMPORTANT: When you use more than one sensor pad under one baby in the twin mode, you may connect
maximally 2-2 sensor pads to Baby Control Digital breathing monitor using the T-connecon (included in
package). Take special care that the two sensor pads connected using T-connecon are placed under the same
baby! Otherwise the device is not able to dierenate between the movements of two babies.
Baby Control Digital 13
At the same me the indicator light (6) above the socket (9) and the indicator light (7) above the socket (10) ash green if
the intensity of detected movements reaches or exceeds the pre-set threshold level. Thus it is possible to check even from
a distance whether the device has detected movements that are intensive enough. An acousc warning signal will sound
from the speaker (3) and the indicator light (6 or 7) will start to ash red when the measured value does not reach the preset
detecon threshold level four mes in succession (12 seconds). Then the alarm is acvated. If the measured value is very low
or equal to zero, it is likely that the maress placed on the sensor pad is extremely thick or the baby is lying close to the edge
of the sensor pad (11). Please change this state to avoid false alarms.

Temporary/permanent suspension of TWIN MODE
(BC-220i, BC-230i)
The Baby Control Digital breathing monitor BC-220i and BC-230i for twins may also be used for only one baby. The device
must be switched from the twin mode into one-baby mode. This means a permanent switching from one mode to another -
not to be confused with a temporary suspension of the twin mode!
1. When switched o, press the ON/OFF buon (1) and hold for approximately 30 seconds unl leers “S” –“E” appear.
Release the ON/OFF buon (1).
2. The display shows alternang values “1” and“2”.
3. If you press the ON/OFF buon (1) while “1” is displayed, the Baby Control Digital breathing monitor will be set to the
one-baby mode and should be operated according to the instrucons described above.
4. If you press the ON/OFF buon (1) while “2” is displayed, the twin mode is set.
Temporary suspension of TWIN MODE
The Baby Control Digital breathing monitor oers you the opon of temporary suspension of the twin mode e.g. in the case
that one baby is sll sleeping, but the other had to be taken out of the cot for any reason.
1. For temporary suspension of the twin mode briey press the ON/OFF buon (1) once. This will cause the temporary change
to the one-baby mode.
2. The red ashing indicator light (6 or 7) on the side where the baby is not present warns you not to forget to change the
device back to the twin mode aer the second baby is returned to the cot on the sensor pad (11) connected into an
appropriate socket (9 or 10).
3. The twin mode is restored by shortly pressing the ON/OFF buon (1) again.
IMPORTANT: The Baby Control Digital breathing monitor is wholly independent of 230V network and operates
exclusively at low voltage. An electric shock is praccally impossible! The device does not generate or emit any
electromagnec or other radiaon. The use of the device is perfectly safe.
IF YOU SUSPECT THERE MAY BE A FAULT, DO NOT USE THE DEVICE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
