propane gasdealerandvisuallyinspectedand re-
qualified ateachfilling.
§Do notstoreaspareLPgastankunderornear
thisappliance.
§Neverfill thetankbeyond 80percent full.Ifthis

deathorseriousinjurymayoccur.
§Alwayskeep LPgastanksinan upright position.

§LPgastanksmust bestored outdoorsinawell-
ventilated area andout of reachofchildren.
Disconnected LPgastanksmust notbe storedin
abuilding,garageoranyotherenclosed area.
§When yourgasgrillisnot inusethe gasmustbe
turned off atthe LPgastank.
§The pressureregulatorandhoseassemblymust
be inspected beforeeachuseof thegrill.Ifthere
isexcessiveabrasion orwearorifthehoseiscut,
it must bereplacedpriortothe grill beingused
again.
§Keep the gaspressureregulatorhoseawayfrom
hot grillsurfacesand dripping grease. Avoid
unnecessary twisting of hose.Visuallyinspectthe
hosepriortoeachuseforcuts, cracks, excessive
wearorotherdamage.Ifthehoseappears
damaged donot usethe gasgrill. Call1-800-648-
5864 forareplacementhose.
§Never lightyourgasgrillwiththelidclosed or
beforechecking toensuretheburnertubesare
fullyseated overthe gasvalveorifices.
§Never allowchildren tooperateyourgrill.
Atankofapproximately12 inchesindiameterby18-1/2
incheshigh isthemaximumsizeLPgastanktouse.
Youmustuse anOPDgastankwhichoffersan
OverfillPreventionDevice.
Thissafetyfeaturepreventsthetankfrombeing
overfilled whichcancausemalfunction oftheLPgas
tank,pressureregulatorand/orgrill.
The LPgastankmust beconstructedandmarkedin
accordancewithspecificationsof theU.S.Dept.of
Transportation (DOT).InCanada,theLPgastankmust
meettheNationalStandardof Canada,CAN/CSA-B339,
Cylinders,spheresand TubesforTransportation of
DangerousGoodsand Commission .
1.The LPgastankmust haveashutoff valve,
terminating inan LPgassupplytankvalveoutlet,thatis
compatiblewithaType1tankconnection device.TheLP
gastankmustalsohaveasafetyrelief devicethathasa
directconnectionwiththe vaporspaceofthetank.
2.The tanksupplysystemmustbe arranged forvapor
withdraw.
3.The LPgastankused must haveacollartoprotectthe
tankvalve.
ProperPlacementand Clearance ofGrill
Never useyourgasgrillinagarage,porch, shed,
breezewayoranyotherenclosed area.Yourgasgrillis
tobeused outdoorsonly, atleast24 inchesfromthe
back andside ofanycombustiblesurface.Yourgasgrill
shouldnotbeused underoverheadcombustible
construction. Donotobstruct the flowofventilationair
around the gasgrillhousing.
§Do notinstallthisoutdoorgasgrill inoron recreational
vehiclesorboats.
§Keep outdoorgasgrillareaclearandfreefrom
combustiblematerials,gasolineandotherflammable
vaporsandliquids.
§Do notobstructtheflowof combustion and ventilation
air.Checkforthiseachtimepriortousing grill.
§Never connect anunregulated LPgastanktoyourgas
grill.The gaspressureregulatorassemblysuppliedwith
yourgasgrillisadjustedtohaveanoutlet pressureof
11”watercolumn(W.C.)forconnectiontoanLPgas
tank.
§Onlyusethe pressureregulatorandthe hoseassembly

§Put out anyflamewithaproperfire

§Get awayfromtheLPgastank.
§Do nottry tofixtheproblemyourself.
§If odorcontinuesoryouhaveafireyoucannot
extinguish,call yourfiredepartment.Do notcall
neartheLPgastankbecauseyourtelephoneis
aformof electricaldeviceandcouldcreatea
spark resultinginfireand/orexplosion.
CAUTION:Spidersandsmall insectsoccasionally
spinwebsormakenestsinthegrillburnertubes
during transitandwarehousing.Thesewebscan lead
togasflowobstructionwhichcouldresultinafirein
and aroundburnertubes.Thistypeoffireisknownas
“FLASH-BACK”andcan causeseriousdamageto
yourgrillandcreatean unsafeoperatingcondition for
theuser.
Althoughanobstructedburnertubeisnot theonly
causeof “FLASH-BACK”,itisthemostcommon
cause.
Toreducethechanceof “FLASH-BACK”, you must
clean theburnertubesbeforeassemblingyourgrill,
and atleastonceamonthinlatesummerorearlyfall
whenspidersaremostactive.Alsoperformthis
burnertubecleaningprocedureifyourgrillhasnot
beenusedforan extendedperiod oftime.

NOTE:Thenormalflowof gasthroughthepressure
regulatorandhoseassemblycan createahumming
noise.Alowvolumeofnoiseisperfectlynormaland
willnot interferewithoperation ofthegrill. Ifhumming
noiseisloudand excessiveyou mayneedtopurge
airfromthegaslineorreset thepressureregulator
excess gasflowdevice.Thispurgingprocedure
shouldbedoneeverytimeanewLPgastankis
connectedtoyourgrill.Forhelpwiththisprocedure
refertopage20,item4of “If Grill Still FailsToLight”,
orcall theGrillInformationCenterat1-800-648-5864.
Visuallychecktheburnerflamespriortoeachuse.The
flamesshouldlooklikepicture, if theydonot, refertothe

Correction: Repositionburnertubesoverorifices.
§Pluggedorifice
Correction: Removeburnersfromgrill,carefully
lifteachburnerup andawayfromgasvalveorifice.
Removetheorificefromgasvalveand gentlyclear
anyobstructionwithafinewire.Thenreinstallall
orifices, burners, andcooking components.
3.If anobstructionissuspected ingrillburnervalves,
pleasecallforrepairserviceat1-800-648-5864.
4.Ifthe grillstilldoesnotlightyoumayneed to
purge airfromthe gasline orresetthe pressure
regulatorexcess gasflowdevice.
Note: Thisprocedureshouldbedoneeverytimea
newLPgastankisconnectedtoyourgrill.
To purgeairfromyourgaslineand/orresetthe
pressureregulatorexcessgasflowdevice:
§TurnallcontrolknobstotheOFFposition.
§Turnoff thegasatthe tankvalve.
§Disconnect pressureregulatorfromLPgastank.
§Let unit standfor5minutes.
§ReconnectpressureregulatortotheLPgastank.
§Turnthe tankvalveon slowlyuntil ¼to ½open.
§Open thegrilllid.
§Pushand turnanycontrolknob toHIGH.
§TurncontrolknobstoHIGHuntilallthe burners
arelit.
§You maystarttousethegrill.
