Operating Instructions
Safe Operation of The Klearside® Side Rails
1. The side rails should be operated with the bed in its lowest posi-
tion, this provides the safest position for the occupant of the bed
and the easiest position for the carer to operate the side rails.
2. When raising the side rails, first raise the head end of the rails
by holding the top rail and lifting (see page 6 for details), when
the head end is locked in place proceed to raise the foot end of
the rails using the lifting strap to gain extra purchase and allow-
ing the side to become tensioned.
3. When lowering the side rails repeat point 2 in reverse order.
Having the head end of the rails raised at all times when adjust-
ing the foot end provides additional protection to the occupant of
the bed.
4. Whenever the bed is left occupied and unattended it should be
in its lowest position.
Warning— Both ends of the side rail ust be raised when the bed is
occupied.
Warning— Users are at risk of serious injury if they atte pt to cli b
over the top of the side rails. Always leave the bed in its lowest posi-
tion when occupied and unattended
Warning— The Klearside® is unsafe for use if a tear occurs on the
Klearside.
Warning– Ensure Vinyl is correctly tensioned before use
Safety—Side rails ust only be used after a full risk assess ent has
