Warranty Details
The product is guaranteed to be free from defects in workmanship and
parts for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. Defects that
occur within this warranty period, under normal use and care, will be
repaired, replaced or refunded at our discretion. The benefits conferred
by this warranty are in addition to all rights and remedies in respect
of the product that the consumer has under the Competition and
Consumer Act 2010 and similar state and territory laws.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the
Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund
for a major failure and to compensation for any other reasonably
foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods
repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the
failure does not amount to a major failure.

Read this manual thoroughly before first use, even if you are familiar with this
type of product. The safety precautions enclosed herein reduce the risk of fire,
electric shock and injury when correctly adhered to.
Keep the manual in a safe place for future reference, along with the
completed warranty card, purchase receipt and carton.
• Appropriate usage: Only operate the Solar Panel Kit according to the
instructions in this manual. We assume no responsibility for faulty use or
inappropriate handling.
• Safety Procedures: Observe your battery manufacturer’s safety procedures
when working around batteries and other electrical equipment. Improper
handling of batteries, can result in an explosion!
• Compatibility: The product is designed to be used on 12 volt lead-acid
battery configurations ONLY. Connect only Red(+) to Red(+), and Black(-) to
Black(-).
• Usage: This product will charge only rechargeable batteries.
• Ventilation: The product should be placed in a well ventilated area, free from
flammable gases.
• Secure the Solar Panel: Make sure the Solar Panel is secured in place.
• Stationary use only: The Solar Panel should not be used while your vehicle is
in motion, doing so may cause harm to person and property.
• Protect the solar panel: Do not scrape the surface of the Solar Panel with
any sharp objects.
• Protect from moisture: The Solar Panel is splash proof, however the quick
connect wiring and J-Plugs must be kept dry.
• Cleaning: If required, clean the housing of the device lightly with a dry, lint-free
cloth. Do not use alcohol, thinners, benzene or any other chemical cleaner.
• Repair: This device is a high precision electronic product. It contains no user-
serviceable parts inside. Do not try to dismantle, modify or repair the device
or its accessories yourself. Disassembly by unauthorised persons will void the
warranty. Contact the after sales support for advice on 1300 886 649.
• Indoor Installation: The regulator may not be installed and operated in moist
rooms (e.g. restrooms), or rooms, in which easily flammable materials such as
gasoline mixtures may be present.
IMPORTANT: Keep children away from batteries and acid!
Smoking, fire and naked flames are prohibited when handling batteries.

Before First Use
• Unpack the appliance but keep all packaging materials until you have made
sure your new Solar Panel Kit 40W is undamaged and in good working order.
Plastic wrapping can be a suffocation hazard for babies and young children,
so ensure all packaging materials are out of their reach.
• Before using your new solar panel, ensure the supplied cables are tightly
secured to the controller. Using a small flat blade screw driver (not supplied),
check the cables are completely inserted into the terminal and the screw
is tightly secured.
• Should the cables need to be removed, loosen the screw and removed
the cables. To reconnect, insert the bare side of cable. The red cable
should be connected Positive (+) and black cable should connect to
negative (-). Tighten the screw and check that all connections are tight
and secure.
Getting Started
Step 1. Connecting the Controller to your Car Battery
• In order to use the solar panel, a 12V lead-acid battery must be connected to
the controller using the clamps cable provided.

Step 2. Connecting your Solar Panel to the Controller
• For best performance, ensure the whole solar panel is located in direct
sunlight.
• Ensure the solar panel is secure.
• First connect the Solar Panel to the Controller, using the J-Cable provided in
the pocket of the solar panel.

Charging your Phone
• USB Mode: To charge your USB devices such as mobile phones, connect
your USB device via your device's USB cable (not supplied). 5V mode will be
detected and charging will begin automaticlly.
• Manual changing between modes is still available using the mode button.

Step 3. Charging your Car Battery
• With the Solar Panel and Car Battery connected, your Car Battery will be
charged whenever there is sufficent sunlight.
• 12V Mode: The controller will start in 12V mode by default, enabling you to
connect 12V devices to the 12V terminals.

only with the battery connection and
should not be use on other connections.

Charging your Laptop
• Laptop Mode: In order to charge a laptop, use the “Mode” button to change
the mode to 19V as indicated by the 19V LED indicator on the controller
Module. Then connect your laptop to the 19V terminals using the supplied
cable and correct adapter for your laptop.
NOTE: Check your laptop for compatibility, before connecting it to the controller.
IMPORTANT: 19V mode is designed for laptop use only.

Using Laptop Adapters
1 Select the laptop adapter plug that attaches to your computer.
IMPORTANT: The 10 plugs are compatible with some laptops and notebooks
only.
2 Attach the Laptop Adapter Cable to the J-Cable that comes from 19V
output of the controller module.
3 Join the Laptop Adapter Plug to the Laptop Adapter Cable.
4 Lastly connect the appropriate Laptop Adapter to your Laptop to start
charging.

Goods or Parts Notice
Unfortunately, from time to time, faulty products are manufactured which need to
be returned to the supplier for repair.
Please be aware that if your product is capable of retaining user-generated data
(such as files stored on a computer hard drive, telephone numbers stored on
a mobile telephone, songs stored on a portable media player, games saved on
a games console or files stored on a USB memory stick) during the process of
repair, some or all of your stored data may be lost. We recommend that you save
this data elsewhere prior to sending the product for repair.
You should also be aware that rather than repairing goods, we may replace them
with refurbished goods of the same type or use refurbished parts in the repair
process.
Please be assured though, refurbished parts or replacements are only used
where they meet Tempo’s stringent quality specifications.
