1Introduction
Note: This manual describes the functionalities of the DCX.Server Version V2.x and DCX.Client
V2.x.
1.1 Scope
The DCX software combination DCX.Server and DCX.Client allows an easy Wi-Fi remote
control of your Behringer Ultradrive Pro DCX2496 loudspeaker management system via your
mobile phone, tablet computer or PC.
1.2 How does it work?
The system is divided in two software products. First, the
DCX.Client software. It provides the user interface, like gain
volume slider or mute switches. The client will be installed at
your mobile phone, tablet computer or laptop.
Secondly, the DCX.Server software. The software is installed
at a PC or Laptop. The server receives via Wi-Fi commands
from the Client and controls the DCX 2496 via a USB-RS232
interface
1.3 Good to know
1.3.1 Which operating systems are supported?
The DCX.Client is available for MS-Windows (PC), macOS, iOS and Android
devices. You get it from the app stores and the MS-Windows version from our
download area.
The DCX.Server needs a MS-Windows or Linux incl. WINE computer. Alternative a stand-alone
controller can build with Linux and the Atomic Pi PC. Download from our homepage.
1.3.2 Is it possible to copy the DCX2496 settings like X-Over, EQ, Dyn EQ… to
another DCX2496 device?
Yes. Read the settings from the source device and store via the preset function. Copy
DCX2496 the settings from the source device and copy the preset data to the target device.
Further you can easily reload stored settings, e.g. for different music halls.
1.3.3 Which DCX2496 functionalities are supported?

1.3.4 Can I use the DCX.Client on multiple devices (e.g. computer and tablet)?
Yes. But you should avoid parallel controlling from two or more clients.
1.3.5 Does DCX.Server run on a Wi-Fi connected computer?
No, the DCX.Server software has to be executed on a computer with a wired LAN
connection. A connection via powerline network adapter or network switch is sufficient. The
DCX.Client can be executed on an extra Wi-Fi or LAN wired computer, mobile phone or
tablet computer.
1.3.6 Is it allowed to install the DCX.Server and DCX.Client at the same PC?
Yes, you can install the MS-Windows version of the client at the same PC.

2Quick Start
2.1 Program screens

Note: Some details of the screens for iOS, Android, macOS and MS-Windows can be different.
2.2 DCX.Server 2 (Trial / Full version)
Without a valid license the DCX.Server software runs as a trial version. In combination with the
free DCX.Client version, your DCX2496 device and a USB-RS232 interface you can easily
check the proper work of the system before you buy it. After the successful test, the trial can
be upgraded to the full version via the ordering of the license in our web shop, without any
re-installation.
Trial limits: Control the gain & mute of the inputs A, B and C.
2.2.1 Download DCX.Server
Use the software “GetSoftware”to download your software version. You find the software in
the download area from our homepage.
•Select a file
•Press “Download”
•Choose a target folder for the download
•The download begins
•Execute the file to start the setup
PC Firewall: Permit the network access for the download!
2.2.2 Operating system blocks the execution
If your operating system blocks the execution of “GetSoftware”after the download, press in
the viewed SmartScreen warning at first “more info” and finally “Run anyway”.

Note: DCX.Client 2 required the DCX.Server version 2.
2.3.1 macOS
Load the app from the Apple macOS app store and follow the
displayed messages from the setup screen. App store: Search for
“DCX.Client 2”.
2.3.2 MS-Windows
Download the setup file from out homepage via the software “GetSoftware”, see chapter
2.2.2
2.3.3 Android
Install the app via the Google Play store. Search for “DCX.Client 2”.
2.3.4 iOS
Install the app via the iTunes App store. Search for “DCX.Client 2”.
2.4 First steps
2.4.1 Prepare your DCX2496 device
•Press the “SETUP” button from the DCX2496 device
•Choose the page “SETUP ➔Miscellaneous”
oSelect “Port” and set “PC (RS232)” via the DCX2496 data
wheel to control a single DCX2496 device
oSettings for a DCX2496 device cluster see chapter 4
•Press the “SETUP” button to store the changes
2.4.2 Firewall/network communication
Important: Allow the network communication between the
software DCX.Server and DCX.Client via the firewall from the
DCX.Server PC.
During the operation the firewall recognize the new network
traffic and ask how to proceed. For a
proper work allow the software
communication.

2.4.3 DCX.Server software
•Install the DCX.Server software at your MS-Windows computer (see chapter 2.2)
•Connect a USB-RS232 interface (min. 38400 baud) to your computer and the Behringer
DCX2496 device
•Switch on your DCX2496 device
•Open the DCX.Server program
oPress the button “Change COM port…”.
oSelect a COM port and press “OK”. The COM led shines green
•Check the displayed “Server IP” address
oIs it a valid IP of your local network? E.g. 192.168.178.23
2.4.4 DCX.Client software
Note: Devices with DCX.Client and DCX.Server must be in the same network!
•Install the DCX.Client software at your computer or tablet/mobile phone (see chapter
2.2)
•Open the program DCX.Client (DCX.Server should already started)
oFor the first start wait 20-30 seconds. The client searches for the DCX.Server
Note: Via the button “Find DCX.Server” from the “Settings/Network” tab you check the
network connection to the DCX.Server.
2.4.5 Control your DCX2496 device
•Follow the chapter “First steps”
•Power on your DCX2496 device
•Open the DCX.Server software
•Open the DCX.Client software
o“Home” tab: Select the device ID of your
DCX2496 (default= 1)
▪Alternative press “Find DCX devices…”to scan for DCX2496 devices
oWait until the button is enabled “highlighted”
oPress the button “Connect/Read” to connect the client with a DCX2496
▪The progress bar in footer displays the status of the data import (not
Android)
oThe software is ready to control the DCX2496
•E.g., select the tab “A B C Sum”. Change the dB gain of “In A”
•Check the level at the Behringer DCX2496

Important notes:
➢To use the software without the DEMO limits you must order a DCX.Server software
license from our online store
➢Do not connect or disconnect the USB-RS232 interface when the DCX.Server is
running!
➢Do not quit the DCX.Server software or switch off the DCX.Server computer during an
ongoing data transfer to the DCX2496device!
3.1 DCX.Server 2.x
The DCX.Server software is the data handler between the DCX2496 device(s) and the
DCX.Client software.
3.1.1 User interface styles
The software provides 3 styles. You change the style via a mouse click into the screen (empty
space).

Establish the connection to the DCX2496 device and read the settings. Plus DCX2496 preset
memory.

“Find DCX devices…”
Press the button to start the scan for
connected DCX2496 devices. The
function scans the DCX device Id’s
from 1..16. The result is entered into the
device Id list (star 2).
Note: The scan takes approx. 30
seconds. After the scan the footer
shows how many devices are found

DCX2496 Id list. Select a DCX device Id
and press “Connect/Read DCX…” to
control the DCX2496 with the selected
Id.
Note: The latest Id is set for the next
program start.

Preset A:
Press “To Disk” to save the current DCX
settings on your client computer
Press “To DCX” to transmit the stored
setting to the DCX2496 device
Preset File:
Press “To Disk” to save the current DCX
settings on your client computer in a
file. Enter first a file name.
Press “To DCX” to transmit the stored
setting from a file into the DCX2496
device. The file dialog is displayed (see
3.2.7).
Note: The software switch automatically to the “Home” tab until the data is read from the
DCX2496.
